It already IS a religion. There is a high enough percentage of them in certain countries that it is actually an option on information sections of tests/censuses/whatnot.

On my census form, I filled my religion as Jedi Knight, despite the fact that I'm atheist.
Someone told me that if enough people wrote it as their religion, it'll become recognised as one. And instead of Jewish holidays, I'll have Jedi training holidays or whatever that gets me out of work for religious reasons.
