Well, no Guts. That's a downer.

Short chapter too, yet I can't help but think how tired one would be after drawing that chapter. I wonder how much digital editing/composition goes into berserk.

Well, I think it's amazing how much detail Miura draws in. You can feel how massive the scale of the Kushan army is, the overwhelming numbers and stuff.

And also, I dedicate these releases to Steve Irwin...well, no, not really. Miura should have the sense to have some last minute insertions for some Kushan crocodiles. I'll miss him though.

He doesn't do it by himself, you know.

He does layouts and compositions and shit but has other people draw the details for him.

That's the infamous Studio Gaga, I'd assume.

I think Miura said so in an interview somewhere.

Whatever.

It was a pretty lame chapter.

PS: Thanks for the release as always.

Well, this was a short chapter....although the Kushan army was friggin epic, probably the biggest he ever drew.
Seems the emperor has lost his patience with this war, pretty cool scar he has on his face.

Thanks for the release EG.

Yeah, heh. Mangakas have assistants that take care of backgrounds, lines, etc. Stuff that they don't want to do and hire assistants for.

I thought it was a pretty good chapter, it sets the scene to tell us how huge the Kushan army is, and how helpless the Vatican are. I would like to see how the Hawks will handle an army of this size. I know Griffith has faced some impossible odds back in the pre-eclipse days, and this will be interesting to read.

How are you going to say that when you don't even really like BERSERK anymore?

Hey smart guy, maybe I said that because I don't like Berserk anymore?

I'm just seeing it to the end out of habit.

Or to get some sense of closure out of something I spent so much time on.

Or because I have hopes of the series regaining it's former greatness.

Or because I've grown attached to some of the characters.

Or because I've grown attached to this place.

Or just because I have nothing better to do.

Maybe all of the above, maybe none.

I don't really know but here I am!

Quite opinionative, but I hate to say it, no one is out to specifically please you, especially if you're only going to support 40% of the series. Secondly, I get real sick of the bickering over some non-existant "Downward spiral", everybody focuses WAY too much on the Golden Arc. Some of my favorite volumes don't even -belong- in the golden arc. Most people pay way too much attention to the Eclipse, which is what made the golden arc so prevailent, everything added up to that one point. Mind you, it was something that was meant to be the most major fucking catalyst for the entire manga, and just because it's not repeted every 5 volumes, somebody has to have a hernia over it and act as if there is a decline in quality. There isn't.

Great release EG on 279. Was a good chapter, Kushan will pwn.

Let's just hope Guts doesn't end up quadrapledic and blind.

I'm pretty sure the behelit will be a major factor. This was pointed out during his meeting with the "witches".

"If it's meant to come to you, it will. Hope that if it leaves you that you never find it again."

It hasn't left, so we can only hope for the worst (BEST!)

EG for teh win!!

Thanks for the release, guys.

Have to say, though, this chapter is a classical diversion. It doesn't show us what we want to see at all.

Agreed, tricky Miura. Goes on for another one of his big breaks only to make a diversion. You knew it was going to happen the second they got on the boat :P

I think Miura is doing a pretty big and stupid mistake by letting other people draw his comic , it's very stupid see how the drawing is improved at a time and at the other drawn like shit.I hate studio GAGA.

Do keep in mind mangaka -need- staff. Studio GAGA isn't doing "Everything", they're just helping release Miura's work on time by again, adding in detail etc. Sometime the results vary, but 278 was more than evident they can do great work when they try. This chapter was much the same, just really short and again, an evident "distraction" while Miura works on other elements.

Thanks for the release guys! :)

I really like the details of the kushan army. I'd say the level of detail is very high again after the previous two chapters.

I hoped to see Guts and others on the ship, but that's got to wait. I've read the previous 31 volumes non-stop, now it seems I'll need A LOT of patience.

I believe it's from another count who had daughter Theresia.
