i previously use bittornado as my BT client.

just like firefox, this new discovery of uTorrent is awesome.
the wonder of it is that its just a 160kb executable.
there is no installation required.

edit: actually i just wanted to highlight uTorrent as a great BT client. the poll was a side quest.

I use Shareaza.

I don't think it's very obscure but I could always be wrong...

I use torrentstorm. It takes too much memory to my taste but I never really checked out for anything better. I just downloaded Utorrent, I'll give it a try.

I like utorrent for quick jobs, however I'm an Azureus fan because it is all the tools I need to get EG's releases out and help seed.

Almost all the torrents on the Mindwerks Tracker where created using Azureus, the earlier ones where by hand using the official bit-torrent software.

For awhile I used bittornado, but it has been rendered dead to me thanks to Azureus and it's plugins (Peer Guardian, to keep mpaa,riaa,policia out) and other neat stuff.

i never use azureus.
but its the swiss-army knife of bittorrent. all the best tools and tweaks are in it.

i love utorrent for its minimalism yet feels more powerful than bittornado.

psi introduced me to utorrent, and I use that in combination with BitLord, another BT client that I can't be bothered to change to a better option.

Azureus.

I used Bitlord for a while and it was pretty good but I went back to Azureus eventually.

I still don't like how it allocates the space for the download on your hard drive before it even starts downloading. Sometimes I might want one file or two from a 30GB torrent and I might not have that kind of space in my hard drive. I'm not sure if there's an option to get rid of that.

Bitlord was better in the sense that it let you choose what you wanted to get before the download started.

I am also an Azureus man.

I use bittornado. I just like the simple click and download things. Sure it might be slower but I leave em on while I'm sleeping anyways.

There are options you can select (Advanced) that changes how files are created either all at once to reserve the space, or to only write when you get the data, and another option.

I like the Bittorrent now you can have more then three downloads with a status bar and it seems faster to me, but maybe its just the new location I have been DLing

Azureus is the best and i like how you can download only parts of an a torrent.

Thats important to me cause i do that often when i download a hole season torrent of tv show or anime or something and i only need some eps not the hole season.

Is Utorrent faster than Azureus? Azureus i think could be faster.

uTorrent is smaller and consumes less resources, but as for 'faster' that is all dependant on seeders and your internet connection no matter your software of choice.

Some clients i have seen has it easier to connect to seeders and peers thats what i mean by faster.

faster is very subjective, glad you clarified. depending on the software used, it will differ a bit on how it can connect. For example, newer bit-torrent clients use UPnP to poke holes in your Router/Firewalls (Linksys, netgear etc) to allow people to connect to you, and in turn giving you more access to seeders and hence a faster download.

The price for these (and more) techniques is the size of the program used (it gets bigger, consumes more resources).

Up to you to figure out which one is best for your needs.

ya, i dont know y, but azureus tends to give me better results. i seem to connect to better peers when using it, for example, y was dl/ing some games using utorrent for days, and i got a few kilobytes a second most of the time, so i switched to azureus and got much better speeds, like 200 times better to be precise

i think comparing one client over another in terms of which will give you more speed is pretty hard to pinpoint.
because a myriad of other factors like seeds and location also play important roles.

i may spend some time to look at azureus.
for now i love utorrent for its compactness, efficiency and "to the point"-ness.

I was using azureus but I lost the point when I didn't use all the extra features and plugins ect.

I can not use Bit Torrent, but that will only be for the summer then I will be free from the oppression of the dorms network.

Bittornado, just the simplest to get, install, to use and to understand for me and got all the options I need too.
Speed is the same as bitcomet and bittorrent to me.

bitcomit is the evil, bottom line.

It does not respect standards and abuses trackers, and is banned by some trackers and if I see heavy abuse on my tracker then I will ban bitcomet as well.

If you use it, I'm sorry, we can't help you. Switch to Azureus, it has more features and sucks less.

Azureus. I first tried the original bit torrent client, but it just didn't work out for me.
