So I just joined this board and so far things arn't going very well. Now this is certainly not the first board I've ever gone to, nor is it the only one I'm going to now, but techniquely I'm a n00b.
Let me give this a second chance. I joined this board because I love Berserk and thought this place did an incredable job scanlating it. I'm a pretty big anime fan in general, not so much in manga. My name (Sarah of Borg) is one I've used across the internet for ages, and refers to my past obsession with Star Trek.
I really don't want to go over why I have such a bad impression from this board, I could write a book. But nonetheless I really want to join, more out of practicality than anything else. Hopefully my first impressions are really, really wrong. It's really hard to join any new board and to fit in at all.
I hope all my effort to join wasn't wasted.

If what gives you a bad impression about this board is that you don't receive enough good comments in the fan art thread then your impression might be premature don't you think so ?. I'm a noob too and so far I think that people get along fine here.

Just so you know, you don't have to read Finito's posts. They tend to be fairly incomprehensible even to regulars.

This is kind of a tough board, the people here dont exactly welcome outsiders with open arms. If they think you are an idiot, they will tell you. I have been on here since the beginning and these guys are pretty cool for the most part, but I have seen them rip people apart. I guess you just need to avoid Femto during that time of the month. But they do keep the board from getting over run by inane garbage. Just accept them as they are and dont let them offend you. Roll with the punches and you'll be fine.

First off, everyone that contributes is awesome in my book.

However, we are not about to blow sun-shine up your ass because you spent a long time and end result being nominal.

I like the picture, as it was drawn by miura. The coloring was pretty good, but no ogar. For an avatar, it looks pretty darn sweet.

That being said, I think you can relax because the more you hyper-ventilate the more people are going to be cynical towards you. Meaning, chill out and enjoy yourself. If people notice your work, great. If not, then move on.

Best you can do is accept any criticisms, internalize, and continue to do better if you choose to.

Now, is that what you wanted to read or is there more to your post? Anyway, welcome aboard... again.

As always, if people have problems, contact a mod or myself.

Well, like I said I'd rather hear that it sucks rather than pretty much not getting anything. I think my issue wasn't simply that I want people to "blow sunshine" anywhere, but that after a lot of work, acknowledging it's either good or bad is all I ask.
And I definitly don't like being compared to others, since I'm a firm believer in style over skill.

Still, if I really stick around I'll make a better avatar (or try to anyway.)

Just relax, if they say its great, good for you; if they say it sucks, you know you need to work on it some more; if they say nothing at all, then you know how they feel; indifferent. Take it how you want, either not good enough for praise or not bad enough for criticism. But dont bitch about it.

I know I have been a dick about forum rules and shit, so I kinda feel bad about it, but like every body said, you will get used to us and how we operate and all of us don't wish any thing bad upon you. Your coloring job is good, much better than what I could do, it is just I have this nasty habit of seeing the bad before good.

Don't take the internet so seriously, I used to when I first joined the forums. And there was a clash or two between me and another forum regular back in the day, but every thing is pretty much cool now, just relax and take it easy.

Joining new forms is never easy. Currently I've been posting at adultswim.com for 3 years, so it's been a while since I had to do it.

So I took those photos, I figure I'll make them into their own special thread in the Berserk forum since they don't count as fan art.
I took 103, maybe 30 were in focus (hard to do with bad lighting and small objects.) Still narrowing down the best, and I'll probably photoshop the heck out of em.

Don't worry about being here. Being a female in a forum already gets you all the advantages and upperhand you need. Yes, that's true.

Just read the rules and listen to what people have to say, but most of the time you'll have to ignore Buzkashi. Oh, if you did something wrong, blame Femto for it.
