I think it's just Google and not a member, (insert some technical shit here) but I think search results for this site display via Google because of that or something. Yahoo was there a moment ago as well. I don't know the details, but I think that's the reason.

Or maybe there's an hacker afoot.

Thats cause he/she is Google, and google is far to complex for most people to understand.

Or the person who made it doesn't want people to figure out that they are pretending to be the one and only Google.

I don't know, that would be way to evil. I know some evil people but nobody that evil, however this is supported by Evil_Genius, so who really knows.

I think its just cause we got them google ads at the bottom.

I added that in last night, basically it is just to let people know who is actually 'viewing' other than it just showing 'guest'.

So far it should have google, yahoo, and msn. As I see or care about more bots, I'll keep people informed.

This helps me verify that bots are raiding the site, and not some unknown person wasting bandwidth.

It has nothing to do with google ads, matter of fact I'm hopefully going to remove the ads soon (for both here, and on EG).

what does it mean when it shows 'Google' instead of 'Yahoo' or "MSN" then?

All it does it let me (and you) know that they are crawling the forums.

For example, if you see 3 google's that means 3 different IPs from Google's network are crawling the forum.

Same can happen with MSN or Yahoo's bots. It is just an FYI, they have always been there, I'm just making it more noticeable.
