I made this pic which represents the network of a firm. But due to me being foolish, I saved it as *.jpg ... Now the pic has become "dirty". I tried removing the dirt with eraser but it kept coming back. Since some of you are editors, perhaps you can help me out by telling me how to remove it?
B/c I have a presentation and it's not pretty showing such a pic :).

Is this forum for mindwerks related stuff only, or is stuff like this acceptable too?

I think it's the former, but I want to know for sure before I start bitching.

why bitching?

I help out my classmates with non-uni related stuff too, especially when it doesn't really cost me an effort.

I'm sure that I wasn't the one addressed here, just my opinion.

Classmates? Uni? What are you talking about?

I asked a question to know if this thread was in the right place to prevent it from happening in the future if it isn't.

Doesn't mean he can't ask somewhere else.

Get that sand out of your vagina.

Ooookey.

Well I guess it says support...don't see a better place to put it.

That's why I asked the question.

If this thread has no place here, then a name change for this forum might be in order because it can lead to confusion, as evidenced by this thread.

"Mindwerks News and Support" or something, though it does seem kind of redundant.

*shrugs*

Can anybody out there answer either question?

1. I'm assuming this is a Paint job... Just erase the dirt, and save it as a BMP.
2. Get Photoshop.

That "dirt" is called "artifacts." JPEG is a lossy format, so the JPEG is never identical to the original, always lower in quality. However, this is offset by a JPEG often being smaller than a lossless version. Noticeable artifacts, such as in your "dirty" picture, are when you heavily compress a picture.

After looking at the original, I would save it as a PNG. PNG is a lossless format in addition to it working extremely well with pictures such as the one you have.

THX, PNG is much better than JPG or BMP. I made a new picture, and there are no "artifacts" at all on it.

I'm late and haven't looked at the image since I'm too lazy to copy and paste but I agree with arke. .png is better to use because it can match the size of the .jpg while keeping a better quality. Also, you'll probably want to fix your BBcode.
