Different would be an understatement, whats your guys take on it? Is it just too different to be an Rpg? Is 12 the number it took for Final Fantasy to die, or is it going to appeal to America? Also anyone know how good it did in Japan?

It's not out in Japan yet...and Final Fantasy XII reminds me of Final Fantasy XI. I think they did good changing the system to play like XI. Some of the monsters even look like they were taken straight out of XI.

How is being able to run around different from being an rpg? I mean look at The Vampire series on PC. I'll think it'll do just fine in america like the others, especially since it's making a change. Square knew that had to do something to move the series forward because 10 was a big step backwards and in the wrong direction at that.
How it do in Japan? The game doesn't come out till march 16th, the demo didn't come with dragon quest 8 there(they all brought it anyway).
edit: I like the mandragora's and how one fell over after the mission on 12 was funny. It was also cool how they ran away from the monster like it was going to eat them, cool scripting/AI.

I liked the graphics and stuff. Wish I could have seen a little bit of the leveling up system though. The monsters on the screen take a little getting used to but once you do its not that different, it just doesn't have the whoosh effect when you go into a battle. Also, on the demo the monsters never spawned back for me but I guess thats because they didn't have the leveling system working yet and ideally if the monsters spawned back you would eventually be able to level up. But yea, the T-Rex was a little much but it was nice to think I was thrown into a Final Jurassic Park Fantasy ^_^

sorry but they took all that was good out of FF and made it crappy.
I'll stick with DragonQuest 8.

Dragon Quest seems like it will be the superior game. I didn't lay the demo that long because I wanted to get back to playing DQVIII. But I'm going to play through the demo when I'm done.

Out fo the Final Fantasy's I have only played 1,2,7,9,and 10. So no...I don't remember the T-Rex. But if it was in the other ones then cool....I thought it was a new thing. Or a temporary thing for the demo.

God, you are missing so much, go out and find FF IV and VI by any means neccessary. You'll thank me later. I've heard that V is really good, but I have yet to play it.

V is good. Reminds me of tactics with the job classes.

Or if you are hardcore like me, you have the original SNES cartridges for both.

Don't feel bad ... I only have the roms too.
I will say fast forward leveling up makes the game way more fun, especially since you have to make use of EVERYONE .... in ff VI anyway.
---Edit I won't be playing this demo till Snake eater is done. I really want to play Dragon Quest more though.

They should rename this game to Final Fantasy XI Deluxe: Single Player Edition.
It plays just like FFXI. I personally don't see anything wrong with the battle system...I guess because I played the hell out of the MMO. I like the fact the the camera is now fully controllable.
Summons are similar to FFXI but all your othe party members leave except the summoner and you can't seem to control it.
All this is from Vans demo. I'll check out the girl's later.'
Overall this demo is no where near as impressive as previous Final Fantasy demos.

Well with the way Square-Enix is going, FF XIII will prolly get to us before FF XII!

The demo wasn't bad.
It... wasn't bad at all.
It was quite alright.
But it was nowhere near the
z0MGOOD end of the scale.
It is no Final Fantasy, it is a Massively Singleplayer Offline Role-Playing Game.
Ugly, too.
