KOFXI released in Hong Kong today.

Saw the double assaults earlier today...they were all right.
Yuki and Ai's Double Assault were pretty cool. Most of the others were pretty much "cut and paste", but were good nonetheless.

Everyone has Double Assaults, but only special partners can do Special Double Assaults.

My GOD the music KICKS ASS!

Also Femto... I really wish you were around SNK-Capcom and Cyberfanatix boards just so you could see the "Man KOF has Guilty Gear quality animation" posts.

Also, for all the people who watched all this... does Terry's sprite look better to you... I think they chaned it... but I'm not too sure. Need someone else's input.

It looks pretty good. The music so far is the best we've had since '00, but it seems very un-KOF'ish to me.

I'm positive it's the same shitty Terry sprite also.

But yeah, those boards suck because most people can't tell their hands from their asses. The ng.com boards is where the truly knowledgeable people are, at least as far as fighting games are concerned.

What do you think about the Boss? Alot of people are complaining about how ugly he looks... I think it's a pretty good design. He's moves creepily and he looks decrepid. I guess alot of KOF fans are too used to having pretty people in their game.

From the video he looks like he's going to be one of the hardest KOF bosses so far. He sure as hell owned Shion/Scion (whatever her name is).

You're right about the Terry thing.

I finally heard Momoko's voice in the Sega trailer...she needs to be shot.

I try to take things with a huge grain of salt after watching videos like these.

I mean, how much can you tell from shitty videos like those? I'd rather wait until I see the game and actually play it before I pass judgement on stuff.

That being said, the boss doesn't look too bad. Shion or whatever her name is looks pretty good, though I've never been fond of weapons in KOF games.

...

Except for Billy Kane of course.

Femto...Is rotoscoped a method of trying to draw over live action footage... I think I heard it mentioned in one of my classes.

Hey...look at this...can you say Kizuna team.

Jyazu...the boss from Kizuna Encounter....is now in the game...It absolutely makes no sesne now. Maybe Jyazu can live for a long time...and that's just Sho Hayate's dad or grandpa.

Anyway...if Jyazu can pop up...how about Rob Python

Yeah.

It's pretty lame and it takes out all the fun from animating.

Look at the gif you posted, it definitely looks rotoscoped.

; ;. It was still an all right game though.

KOF XI: I think we should all send Hiroaki Thank You letters...after we see how they handle the stories for the Kizuna characters...because that's kind of bothering me.

My only problem with Kizuna characters is that they look out of place in a KOF game. Why not just put them in NGBC? They'd fit a lot better in a game like that.

Gai was a great choice, but a guy with a giant boomerang is not KOF material.

EDIT: This thread is too much, I say we make separate topic for every game. That way members won't have to browse through 5 games they don't care about to read info on one of them.

What do you think?

That's cool as long as I can take my recent news reports and put them in a KOF XI thread. Then close this one out...this thread had a good run; ;

Done.

I'll change the title of the other thread to let people know what's going on if you don't mind.

It might piss some people off because they'll have more threads to go into, but it'll be better in the long run because we can keep things more specific. It's not fair if people want to talk about Soul Calibur 3 and they can't do so because KOF XI is whoring all the attention.

Seems like Iori has lost his powers now >.>. He's either:
A) Not going to reappear in XII
or
B) Will reappear, but with new abilities

According to the endings you mean?

Good.

Iori is one of the characters in KOF that's been long overdue for a change in his moveset.

EDIT: Oswald's stance is fucking awesome. He's probably the best new character I've seen in KOF for years.

1st Video Thoughts

....I guess the stages don't have their own theme songs, because this stage was shown with having different music in the other match vid. I wonder what determines the music then. Anyway...I like it.

You get to see Momoko in action BIG TIME. Pretty decent character from what I've seen in the video. I still don't like the fact that she's a 10 year old chipmunk. Didn't really see anything new with the other characters. Music in this video was pretty damn good.

2nd Video thoughts

Shen Woo's new punch is killer. Makes him seem way more in your face. It was also pretty cool to see him swat a fireball out of the air. The pause for when you finish an opponent off with a super causes the atmosphere to be very dramatic. The music was very good also. It shows that KOF XI has a diversity in music. >.> Athena's LDM is freaking crazy.

:headbang:

EDIT: I take back my comment of the music being un-KOF'ish. The song that plays in most of the videos out there (the one that is very upbeat) is probably from K's team, and if it is, it goes hand in hand with KD-0097 and KD-0084, the team's music in '99 and '00 respectively.

EDIT2: The more I listen to the music the more I want to get the soundtrack. So far it seems right on par with '98 and '99, though I'd have to hear all of the tracks with better quality to make a definite decision.

The more I learn about this game, the more it reminds me of the stuff the old SNK used to put out.

:headbang: is what I'm trying to say.

I might have to invest in a supergun + Atomiswave setup next year.

I have to hand it to SNK. I think this is the best KOF EVAR. Played it in the Ogelthorpe Mall in Savannah. Probably spent a good 3 hours playing it with some friends and other players. Had a constant stream of people around the machine. The lowest it got was 6 people and the most around it was about 13.

The only thing people were griping about though is the fact that the sprites aren't hi-res yet. I wanted to lay the wrath of Femto upon them, but I shrugged it off. There were also the usual fanboys complaining about the loss of their favorites characters, but if fanboys had their way with KOF games or any games for that matter it would probably end up being pretty trashy. The enhancement to the tag system is really polished and I'm sure on the next KOF they'll have it perfect.

In the area of music, everything was excellent...except for that cutesy platformer type song...that needs to go, or be changed for the AST. Everyone chuckles when the song comes up though.

Also, the load time is better than NGBC, but...it should be non-existant in both games; I just don't understand why there is loading time.

Teams I used today were

Kim/Shingo/Terry
Shingo/Shen Woo/Ryo
Ryo/Kim/Terry
Terry/Shingo/Kensou
Shingo/Shen Woo/Vanessa

Venessa controls awesome in this game by the way. I have to get used to Kim and Shen Woo a little.

Ryo has his old move from AOF 2 or 3... I don't remember, but the move has a slash sound effect to it. I don't remember the motion to it. I didn't DC with his LDM since I believe it's better to LDM first and then do his ranbu DM. Other than that Ryo plays almost exactly the same for me.

SNK should have just made Gai a normal character. I so wanted to see him, but I couldn't get the machine to myself at all.

All the voice acting was good. The intro between Kyo and Iori is foooking awesome; they still need to take a back seat though. I even liked Momoko's oompa loompa chipmunked voice...kinda grew on me...I still hate her though.

I used the save feature at least one time every match. It works great for when you don't want to get busted with a combo'd DM.

The quick tag I used about three or four times...I'm not used to continuing a combo with a different character yet though. I tried to string together Terry's Strong Punch to Power Charge (HCF+K, F+K, F+K) into Shingos Strong Punch to 202 Shiki Kototsuki Mikansei (HCB+K). It worked pretty good most of the time. I think It was about an 8 hit combo.

Gai Tendo Video http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CQUJS19K Awesome quality for only 2 megs.

I've never seen him in action before. His animation count seems decently high. Anyway, he's cool as hell. Just like I imagined. From the comment about the video the guy said that those were not nearly all of his moves. The CPU just kept spamming the same thing over and over.

Most of his moves from Buriki ONE are in there. Watch his throw near the mid point of this video....it's just awesome. THATS how you take someone down. It's kind of like one of Goro Daimon's throws, but faster.

The motherfucker is HUGE!!! His sprite and animation are great. He looks to be the biggest male character in the game...aside from Magaki and Jyazu.

I wouldn't give a shit if they left Joe out of KOF forever now.

Video credit goes to ColdShoulder at SNK-Capcom.

But......it's.......Joe...C'mon!

*EDIT* - Just finished watching the video. It's some pretty impressive stuff from Gai. And yeah, his sprite is HUGE. I'd like to see him and Maxima standing together.

Damn I forgot about Maxima...uhhh...uhh...He doesn't count. He's a robot.

At least Gai has the same voice actor.
