Re: Superhero comics and other comics.
The Kyle going evil thing was just speculated by readers, there was a description for one of the issues that Kyle was going to side with Parallax. Not sure if it's going to be true.

Re: Superhero comics and other comics.
Fuck DC, man.
Their solution to the Flash books was ultimately to just kill off Bart Allen and pretend like their poor editorial decisions never happened instead of trying to make it work.
Wasn't Guggenheim doing a good job with the book?
Fuck DC and fuck Dan DiDio.

I really hate Didio not cause what happened to Bart but cause i really like DCU and these days he is ruining everything. 52 was alright but it do any good.
Making Renee the Question lame, making Black Adam uber super villian that cant be stopped even more lame,LesBat Woman is even worse....
Eldo: i know where that story will happenen. I heard about Sinestro corps, pharalax etc Kyle might become depowered or evil but atleast he is safe. They cant kill him after just killing Bart.
I also despised WWIII totaly useless. Waste of paper. I actually thought for a sec they would add something to the story.

Guggenheim was doing a spectacular job with Bart. If he had done the launch instead, it would have been great.Femto wrote:Fuck DC, man.

Bart had a lot of potential, and also had the capacity to be the best Flash. He had photographic memory, he WAS the Speed Force (untapped potential and all that), and he also had humour. But no...they killed him off. Wally's back with Linda and the twins (in their teenage years), and Wally and Linda doesn't seem to have aged, despite having two teenage son and daughter. Hm. I blame DiDio for making poor decisions. I know he loves comics, but this is like a bad soccer coach who can't manage his team properly despite his fierce passion for the sport.

I just read the Sinestro Corps Special.

I wasn't too happy about the way Kyle was portrayed. He was treated like a lightweight. It's like Geoff Johns hate Kyle because he replaced his hero Hal from eons ago and is deliberately trying to ruin him. Anyway, it was a solid issue, nothing mind blowing for me.

Re: Superhero comics and other comics.
Kyle a lightweight?
He took on the entire Sinestro Corps all by himself.
What did you expect to happen?
His "change" felt more natural than what I expected, not that it's something I liked, mind you.
I really liked the issue in general though.
The embodiment of willpower makes too much sense, as does the "color spectrum of emotions."
And the artwork was just mindblowing.

Re: Superhero comics and other comics.
What I meant was when Sinestro 'tore' the 'Ion' out of him. I thought it was done too easily, which meant anybody could have done it. And Ion being an entity effectively retconned the blend of magic and science as the source of his powers. Having enjoyed the Ion miniseries, I didn't really like this change.

Re: Superhero comics and other comics.
Geoff Johns is retconning a lot of stuff in the Green Lantern books but I'd say most of them are good changes.
I mean, I think that Hal leaving himself open to fear only to be possessed by Parallax is a far better explanation than him just going batshit crazy for no reason.
I'm not really familiar with the Ion book and I don't really like that Kyle is the new host of Parallax but Ion being the embodiment of willpower makes too much sense.
I mean, fear has Parallax what about willpower?
Or avarice and compassion and love?
I dunno.
I really like where this is headed.
That and the fact that the Sinestro Corps has some ridiculous members in their ranks.

It wasn't really for no reason, his home town and all it's inhabitants got destroyed and as far as he saw it no one seemed to care. I haven't read any of the ret-conn, but to insinuate that "Fear" would take a person over at that point sounds a little dumb.Femto wrote: I mean, I think that Hal leaving himself open to fear only to be possessed by Parallax is a far better explanation than him just going batshit crazy for no reason.

And I'm well aware of what happened to Coast City.
It's just a trite and boring excuse for what happened to Hal Jordan.
People weren't pissed off at that for no reason.

Who the heck is Terry Moore?? I hate Ramos art as much as i do Jim mr generic Lee......
I have started reading The Sandman cause my brothers friend borrowed him the first trade. So far its pretty good and great art specially for an 80's comic. Loved seeing Constantine in it too.
Also have The Crow trade from the same guy.

Currently reading the new series of "Spirit", released by DC. It's not as good as the Eisner classic volumes back in the time reading comics fell really good, but it has fresh funny dialogs with a bit childish art (not that it is bad).
Eisner would like this.

Re: Superhero comics and other comics.
I got a new job. wich means I've ordered a few hardcover trades to celebrate the increase in weekly money gains. I've ordered ULTIMATE FF, the 4 first hardcover trades. Also, the first 3 WALKING DEAD hc trades. And the complete GIRLS hc trade.
I also ordered BLACK GAS from Warren Ellis but really that was a boild move since I don't know anything about that book. Just wanted more zombie books.Anyone read that and can give an honest appreciation of it ?
Anyone aggrees that Robert Kirkman is best in Walking Dead than on other series ? I mean. I've looked at Antman and it seems a bit silly. Worth a read for the humor but really, on a character development and richness of story, nothing comes close to The walking Dead. Invincible is good too but again....really the fast paced change of bad guys is really retro (as in «this remembers me of 1970 comics where bad guys were beaten in a single issue»)

Re: Superhero comics and other comics.
I'm confident that the Sinestro Corps War will be the best superhero story this year.
I've only read the one-shot though (probably the finest book I've read all year as I've mentioned before).
Waiting for the trades/hardcovers.

Re: Superhero comics and other comics.
Countdown is a huge mess. I hate how things that play down in Countdown is influencing EVERYTHING. At first, Countdown was announced as a supplement to the other titles, then became the 'backbone' to another 'major event'. Not to mention that it has some pretty bad writing. Maybe I'm comparing this to 52, but Countdown is pretty stinky. I hate Jim Olsen. Mary Marvel doesn't seem to have much depth except being 'a bad girl'. I really hate how Jason Todd 'plays hero', when previous writers establish him as a drug dealer, villain 'badboy'. I don't care much for it, to be honest. Didn't like the first issue, but had how hopes of it of building up, and still nothing.
I have to say I enjoy World War Hulk though. It's like a major summer blockbuster, I can overlook the flaws and look forward to being entertained. Sentry being the Deus Ex Machina seems to be quite predictable. I hope that this plot device isn't used for everything.
And also: JLA/Hitman. It's been a good day.

Re: Superhero comics and other comics.
Well, I had pretty much given up on single issues for a few months now and planned on sticking to trades and hardcovers only but I just got back from my local comic book store with a stack of Green Lantern/Green Lantern Corps issues.
I just couldn't fucking wait to read the Sinestro Corps War.
Bless Geoff Johns.
Impressions later.

I'm a bit underwhelmed with Kyle's treatment in the DC universe. I'm a big Kyle fan, so I'm not really happy to see him in books that I don't read (Countdown) or care about.
For me, it sucks to see him rise up to the top as Ion, and demoted back to regular GL. It seems Hal is now the main and only Lantern that people should care about, while Kyle is the guy who follows Hal around and is pushed away into the multiverse in multiple futile attempts to find Ray Palmer. He's part of a supporting cast that I can't seem to care about along with the bad writing in Countdown and the tie-ins. I think Kyle deserves more than this.
While I enjoyed Sinestro Corps, I didn't like the fact that Kyle seemed like he couldn't do anything without Hal, and how his status quo in the DC universe changes throughout the books.

Re: Superhero comics and other comics.
Kyle does kinda suck though.
Hal Jordan is a badass.
For the record, I do think Annihilation was a better story than Sinestro Corps War.
The first four minis were hit or miss (Silver Surfer and Nova were great, the other two not so much) but the proper Annihilation series was really tightly woven.
Sinestro Corps War kinda dragged a bit.

Re: Superhero comics and other comics.
I just read Silent War. Pretty decent, if only for the fact that it's a good depiction of a superpowered Cold War.
Also, the irony of an American suicide bomber was hilarious.
Also I felt it pertinent that someone here mention that Joe Quesada is a fucking retard and One More Day isn't worth wiping your ass with. It makes me sad that a decent writer like Straczynski had to be stuck with this abortion of a story. Apparently he didn't even want his name on it because all he got to actually write was some of the dialoug, with Joe Q making pretty much all the story decisions. I think it should read "Writer: Micheal Straczynski (But this was all Joe Quesada's idea so blame him)" on the issue.
