I'm not entirely pleased with these, but eh ~_~
I'm kinda dissapointed in myself for using the same technique to do a background on the Casca image but it doesn't look terrible so I don't mind that much.

I like the tone in Guts's face good job, but Caska's tone is just a little on the olive side and whats up with the blush??

It was a quickie, and the colors changed drastically after I added some blending. It also added in the texture. The blush stood out a bit more than I intended, meant for it to be very very subtle. For a rush job out of boredom it works though.

EvilD,
That picture of Caska is a good example of what I was trying to point out earlier in the thread.
Her face looks grainy and the colours are dulled due to that.

I've been getting an overwhelming response from the artwork by Ogar. If you're still there man, how would you like to colour stuff of Berserk for EG for an artwork release each chapter? There has been some calls by people to retain or maximise the resolution of the pic, most people wants it have like a wallpaper resolution or something. Hell, I want a higher res images as well, heh.

Heh, like I said before. The higher the resolution, the more obvious the mistakes.

Aye.. my avatar looks a whole lot better than the larger coloring does for sure, and the Casca image would as well.
Working without a tablet is a pain but if I could find a really good page to do I would like to try and really put some time into one instead of just throwing something together in an hour like I have been. The linework is really important when choosing something to color.. Ogar picked out some of the really nice ones - finding pages that are clear enough and lack the subtle things that don't translate well is a lot of the difficulty. I am considering rereading all of Berserk again and copying over pages which I think are suitable as I read, then I could go through them one by one and really put some time into them. I'm sure I can do better with a bit of time, and WoW servers go down every Tuesday for a number of hours leaving me with little to do.

Hello! I haven't had much time for coloring and stuff like that... cause i've been going to parties like a madman.

Last schoolday was friday the 9th. I might have some time this week. Otherwise... i'll take some time.
Dmitri, that's exactly what i did. I reread the whole series and wrote down some pages i would like to color. Problem is, i don't know where i wrote it...

How's this? I made the colors more dense where needed, and made it smaller to make the line art not look so bad.
Applied some similar things to an image I wasn't too pleased with from before and made it a bit better as well:
Still nothin great. but certainly improved a bit.

Ogar, you do it man, seriously, i made a poster last week of the Berserker helmet you colored some time ago, it kicks some serious ass and it´s a damn great addition to the EG Berserk releases.

btw Genius is spelled incorrectly in your sig
I need to do more with tones for sure, but it's annoying without a Tablet and takes a long time. One of these days if I find the motivation i'll spend a day or two on a piece instead of just an hour and see what I can come up with.

Well let me help you.
Be sure to color a picture from volume 16, page 023a (it is marked as such in Hawks' scans). There is fire all over the place (I think Guts set himself on fire to protect himself from poison, but I am not sure), tons of blood and gore and Guts is more angry than ever. Page 026 from the same volume is also pretty good.

Do this and you'll be worshiped forever

Ahahaha. I once had the same thing happen to me when I made an animated sig.

Not every page can be turned into something that looks great with coloring. The reason it's hard to pick a page isn't a matter of finding one that would look cool, its a matter of finding a page that would really
work with the coloring. The density of hte line art among other things is among the factors in choosing a good one. Ogarr has picked out some of the most "colorable" pages which have clearer contrasts and are more easily manipulated. I'm looking at the page you are refering to and I just don't see it happening =\. Generally, the more white the better. I would like to reread all of Berserk and find an exceptional page that has yet to be colored and put a good amount of time into it. I do like Chapter 16

Sandman, this one is very good!
Please don't feel offended, but I didn't like your other drawings. Maybe it's because of the high constrast colors - I like something more...sober. But this one is "simple", meaning few colors, and more attention on detail
Do you know a master named Brom? His drawings are the exactly definition of perfect (yet wicked) drawing. He uses dark colors, and his anatomy is just perfect. Take a look at some of his drawings to get 'color inspiration'...
Of course, I'm a cynic, since I can't paint as good as you!
EDIT:
Take a look at his colorings...and that is not his best work

That's not too shabby at all, Sandman. A big improvement over your other colorings, at least to my eye.
NOTICE TO ALL COLORISTS:
With another chapter release looming over us, we will be looking through this thread for artwork to include in the chapter. If you have anything you've been working on and manage to finish it up and post it before a good raw comes out (maybe between the end of Thursday and sometime Friday), it will be considered for inclusion! We at EG look forward to showing off your stuff to fans worldwide!

Heh, yeah, we'll decide if they're any good for inclusion. If you can't have it completed by the time of our release, we will include it in our next release (at around July 28th). It's always a pleasure looking at the coloring that you guys have done.
