Did you mean "WHICH was pure garbage?" As in you agree Xmen 3 was bad? So why not compare them? All I said is that it's really been the only other superhero movie out this year so far and Superman was certainly better than that, in my opinion.
And to the guy who says "I'm a much better film critic than you." What, did you get a degree in film criticism? I've taken a few classes on the subject, but I normally have more humility than to act like that means my opinion is more valid.
Nobody is a bad film critic. There's no such thing. There are people who like differant kinds of movies than you, but that doesn't mean they are idiots.
And I'm definintly not the type to like Tokyo Drift. You'd have to hold a gun to my head to make me see that. It's the perfect representation of the kind of film I hate. Therefore, I'm not interested in the opinion of a fan of that movie.

Also dont take these guys that post to you too seriously.

Superman was good, Routh actually sounds similar to Christopher Reeves, and I thought this movie had probably the best Lois and definetly the best Jimmy. It was very well done with a lot of continuity between the first two films which was surprising. Even the title graphics are done like the original film.
I won't spoil anything, but there was one plot point I wasn't crazy about. But I guess it makes for an interesting film rather than faithful adaptation of the comics.
She's only 23 (in real life) and we're to believe she's a start reporter with a pulitzer prize and a 5 year old kid?
Did she fuck Superman while she was still underage?
That makes the whole scenario far less believable.
She's not very attractive either.
The movie had some terrible casting.
Kevin Spacey was probably the best of the bunch but his role was ruined by campy dialogue and a dumb plot.
Routh was better than I thought he'd be, but again, he might've been better if he'd tried to play Superman as opposed to playing Christopher Reeve playing Superman.
He lacked charisma and didn't look the part either.
He's also way too young.
EDIT: I'm kinda starting to get pissed about Spidey's black costume being just a monochrome Spider-Man suit but hey, a cried about organic web shooters forever but I've learned to live with it.

The fact that you took classes on film shows that you know nothing.
A true film critic doesnt refuse to see any movie. Its a joke that you pass judgement on Tokyo Drift without even seeing it, then you turn around and get all pissy because some woman refuses to see Superman Returns. See the fucking movie, then you can talk, but dont get upset when we call you a moron, cause... we will.

I don't have all the time in the world to watch stuff I know is crap. I don't plan to make a career out of film watching, I just figure it's a hobby that adds to my life.
I could probably find something good about even the crappiest movie, but I don't need to waste my time. I mean, I'm sure the movie has really pretty cars *rollseyes*
Not my cup of tea. Doesn't mean I know nothing.
To the guy who says not to take it seriously, it sure is hard. But every good review is a relief.
Superman is not Citzen Kane, hell they even existed at the same time with no comparison. It's just what I'm really really into for the moment.
Honestly, I think I'm becoming a real Superman fan because of this film. I'm still a complete n00b, but every fan has to start somewhere.

Welcome to the club about the black suit.
About Boshworth, she as Lois Lane is one of the things that made me lose all the hope i had for this movie being a really good Supes movie.
Cause Lois Lane is suppose to strong mature woman not a teenager....
Teri Hatcher as Lois Lane was perfect. Not only the age(30+),she was also able to become Lois.

Oh, banana pwned!
Seriously, you can't give a proper review of a movie without seeing it first, duh! Someone obviously fell asleep in class that day. Btw, a criticism class, oh my fucking god! What a n00b.
There are movies I don't watch because I know they aren't my type, but that doesn't mean they're bad. For example, I have no interest in "Brokeback Mountain", however, from what I heard there are people who nut themselves over this movie. I haven't seen it, so I have no idea whether it's good or bad. I doubt I'd like it, but there's a big difference between the quality of something, and personal preference.
But there certainly is such a thing as a crappy movie, and you don't always have to see it to know it.
You *know* Garfeild 2 is crap. Without the need to see it. Just what significant milestone in film is Garfeild 2 going to be?
And I already replied to his message, saying I don't have time to watch movies I know are bad, even if there's something remotely good about them somewhere. It's not usually worth it.
Is it possible I could see Tokyo Drift and like it? Honestly, no. Not unless the film had nothing to do with cars drifting. I mean, that's just a premise I don't think should be good enough to be made into a movie.
It's only good to those who don't care about the quality of a film, but love to see cars.

I saw that preview and am totally stoked. My lil brothers (8 & 9) are like "who is venom?", hehehehhee.... *evil grin*. Indeed, wait till I tell you about Carnage.
There's a differance between a film that's bad but enjoyable and a film that's good. Superman wasn't nessecarily a good movie, just one I really enjoyed, and any flaws it had didn't mean much to my enjoyment of it.
Then there are great films that are not automatically enjoyable, rather it makes you think and see things differantly than before you saw the film. Maybe it's boring as hell, but it can be damed good anyway.
The best films of all are not only intelligent but also entertaining. Anyone can love those, not just a specific niche of people.
And that's the kind of thing I learned in the film criticism classes. There is in fact such a thing as a bad movie.

Thats where you fail at life.
And knowing that the first Garfield movie was complete garbage, maybe they made the second to redeem themselves and it will totally rock. Who knows.

Bullshit. Most people that I know cant stand Kurosawa's films. Clearly, they are morons, because Kurosawa is god. So great films are not films that all be can enjoy.

I don't know those people.
It all depends on what people value in a movie, and the people whose tastes I relate to would all love Kurosawa, and if a whole lot of people didn't love Kurosawa than few would see him to be as great as he is.
Popularity often is a decent indication of a well-made film. It just depends on what kind of people it's popular with.
And I don't fail at life. You fail at a good argument, which is why you resort to personal insults. Which is why it's hard to take you seriously.
