Poor Neo..... may she rest in peace. Now I can understand calling the Neo CD a failure.......

Or the Hyper Neo-Geo 64.

:kekeke:

For the record though, Gaiseric is right. The X-Box is not a failure like those other systems he mentioned (Neo-geo is the best console ever though). If I sounded that harsh then I apologize for it, it's not what I meant. They did better than Nintendo here in the US and that says a lot, even if I do think the Gamecube has much better games.

I still think the 360 will put Microsoft out of the gaming race though.

I hear ya, the GameCube is a better system IMO as well. But that is the way the ball bounces I guess.

But when you talk about the few games that are worth playing on the XBox, you never mentioned Panzer Dragoon Orta. That game owns. Did you ever get a chance to play it??

Unfortunately, no.

There's so little on the X-Box that I don't think buying one is worth it, so I'll probably never get to play it.

No friends own an Xbox that you could snag for a little while. The game is simply awesome man. If you can some how manage a way to play it, I reccomend it.

And sneak in Phantom Dust too.

Hyper Neogeo 64 has to be the board with the shortest life ever.

Ah, I see you feel the same way about the Neo-Geo as I feel about about the Dreamcast(hence it not being on the list of failures). I dont think the 360 will put MS out of the race though. The way I see it, it will be like the old days between Nintendo and Sega, but with Sony and MS. I would love to see those two really go at it and fight for first. With an obvious winner, there is no pressure to make truly great games. So I am hoping 360 does really well and gives the PS3 a run for its money.

I am not counting out the Revolution though. Nintendo is kind of off on its own, doing its thing. Nintendo has always made solid games and have shown that they can support themselves. They have kind of taken a side-step in gaming and I am very interested in seeing what they will do. If they make a Samba de Amigo game and the controller recognition is as accurate as they say it is, I am sold.

Femto, I have two xboxes(my brother is on a mission and his stuff has become my stuff ), so if you ever visit Utah, you can borrow one with Panzer Dragoon Orta. Maybe I was wrong about you being a fanboy. If I was: keep on trollin.

I am gonna be picking up a Revolution. The thing is going to cost under 200 bucks, beat that.

Unless Nintendo decides to focus harder on getting better games, it is going to flop. I know the new controller is innovative but if it only has games like the GameCube did, they are out of the run.

People are starting to realise that just because Mario's face is on it doesn't mean its good.

As for the neo, I'm probably really biased towards that console, but you can't deny all the good stuff it did. Back then, consoles were having a hard time keeping up with its arcade couterparts and the neo was the first one to bring the true arcade experience at home. It was a groundbreaking console in that sense.

Did it sell millions upon millions of copies? No.

Did they release thousands of games? No, barely over 200 actually.

However, people supported the neo for well over a decade and kept playing and buying games for it and its MVS brother has always been popular in the arcades. It depends on how you measure success I guess, but it has one of the strongest fanbases any console has ever had.

And for the record, SNK didn't go bankrupt because of lack of support or something, it was because of a lawsuit against Aruze for I don't remember what reasons. They didn't win and SNK was forced to close doors and split up. The case was re-opened or something a few years later, they won and that's when a bunch of companies by ex-SNK employees merged back together and formed SNKP. They've been doing well financially so far, but the damage was done and it hasn't been the same ever since. The move to Atomiswave and away from the neo was not for any other reason than piracy also. At least that's what SNKP says.

Neo-Geo 4 life!

Neo Geo was a success in my eyes. You and Darken said it, 15 years, longest life span of a video game system evar. Goes to show ya how far ahead they were when they made the thing and just how powerful the system is when you see games like Last Blade 2. It is unfortunate that they had to move to the Atomis, but it is better than no SNKP games right? Man, I would love to get a hold of a MVS some time and a copy of Pulstar and Viewpoint.

Yes, they should. It is going to hurt them overall. It is unfortunate that the Xbox 360 seems to be doing as well in Japan as the Saturn did in America. I say it is because of the history of the previous Xbox not having enough games for the Japanese market. I was hoping that the system would do better in Japan, but what can be done.

I think Microsoft will be losing Team Ninja support this time around.

I mean, everybody knows Itagaki is a graphics whore and the 360's poor sales in Japan, combined with being able to compete directly against his much hated Tekken, leads me to believe he'll be moving his team to work on the PS3 in the future.

Notice how vague he's been regarding which console he plans to develop for.

Makes sense to me. Itagaki is definitely a huge graphics whore. I remember him saying once Xbox was out that some one would have to put a gun to his head for him to produce for the PS2.

Kojima says it's technically possible to port MGS4 to the 360, albeit with a few losses here and there.

Again, if Microsoft hadn't rushed to get the 360 out the door, maybe we wouldn't have gotten such underwhelming graphics at launch.

Not one launch title uses multi-threading I believe.

I do think they rushed it way too fast, especially in Japan. They needed to wait for more of there Japanese support before going into there.

Moore getting ripped by Dan Hsu.

Dan came out and threw some hard shots at Moore, but the part where he asks him to pick a game was a complete ownage move.

That ripping in comic form:

Being a gamer and an english student, it's interesting how game magazines have been doing lately. And PA is right, besides Hsu's move, most of them have pretty much been sucking the wang of every big company they can. If I ever worked for one, I'd be sure to keep it real (Of course, then a lot of them wouldn't hire me :? )

god damn i knew i should have posted the PA strip...

just saw this part too..
EGM: What games due out in the next six months are you most excited for, besides Oblivion?

PM: I'm looking forward to Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. I think Tomb Raider is showing some real progress, and I'm hopeful that Lara [Croft] gets reborn with this latest iteration of this great franchise. What else...at some point I think you're going to see Fight Night, and from the little peek under the tent that I've seen recently, that thing now looks truly next generational. And I'm a big fan of the franchise anyway, so there's that. Splinter Cell at some point in 2006 will be out—we always look forward to Ubisoft [games] because they make great use of the Xbox Live service....

All those games he mentioned are all bound to come out to all systems and PC. Cant wait to play some of those games on my pc...

I thought that was a good read, ass kissing isn't EXTREME!! I hope shoe does that with many more developers. I have a word or two to throw at SNK, square-enix, nintendo, rare, the moon, etc.
