The Action Comics #1 pose was nothing but a cocktease.

It's like Singer put it in and said "Here, this is what this character is based on, but we're giving you a movie that has nothing to do with him."

The Spider-Man movies integrated the imagery and storylines from the comic far better.

The more I think about Superman Returns, the more I dislike it. As I said, it would've been a much better film if Singer had actually tried to make a Superman movie, as opposed to a Richard Donner Superman movie.

PS: I thought fatty was done defending her favorite movie of the year.

What, just because I'm female means calling me fat will piss me off? I know I'm fat, and proud :D

Anyhow, I said since other people said they liked it I decided to get back on it.

Explain to me how this movie is so differant from the comic and therefore bad, yet Superman 1 and 2 were also far from the comic yet great? Besides, the comic has been running for many decades, just what part of the Superman comic Should the movie have been based on? The part where Superman single-handedly killed Nazis and Japanese? Or the part where Superman was a Dick?
http://www.superdickery.com/dick/1.html

The Superman comic had good moments and a WHOLE lot of bad moments too.

And the Batman TV show was MILES away from the comic, yet plenty of people still love that stuff :D ...like me.
For that matter, I always think of the Batman movies as "Tim Burton's Batman." Nothing wrong with putting a new spin on an old idea.
When it comes to Superman at least, I don't think there is such a thing as canon.

They should have casted Seagal as Superman

I was wondering when you would say that

Canon? What the hell are you babbling about?

The movie was BAD.

That pacing was terrible, too many scenes dragged, many of the plot points were dull and not fleshed out properly, the CG was average, the casting was bad, it's not very true to the comic, etc, etc, etc.

There is no secret to a good Superman story: as with most superheroes, you just have to pit them against something that is really beyond their abilities. In the first Superman it was the death of Lois Lane and in the second one it was three Kryptonians with his exact powers. Heck, Superman: Peace on Earth is about Supes trying to stop world hunger and that could've arguably been and excellent starting point for a feature film. Instead we get a kryptonite continent. Whoop-dee-fucking-doo.

So the early Superman comics were nothing but war propaganda, that's not fucking news to me. I posted a link to that site on this very forum over a year ago. You're not saying anything that half the world doesn't know already and I don't see what the point was in bringing it up.

Superman Returns is not "a new spin on an old idea," it's a bad movie based on a comic book character that has withstood the test of time like no other.

Please stop posting.

Look, I'm not going to stop posting. Why, because you don't like my opinions means I'm not worthy of voicing them? I simply found nothing wrong with the movie, and I happen to not be an idiot. Does that boggle your mind, that a person could like something you don't, without them being stupid?
I don't mind debating the quality of the film, or the fact that you disagree. I am just sick of the cowardly personal insults which add nothing to the discussion but hostility.

And for that reason alone, I won't bother to explain why I disagree with your opinion, because I honestly don't think you're willing to argue this rationally.

lets just forget about superman returns. we all have movies that we enjoy and dont. this supes movie had no brainiac, no darksied, or doomsday, so it was lame as hell.

as for now, Tokyo Drift> superman returns. Fucking awesome drifting up the parking lot= a fucking klondike bar.

I lost respect for singer, he sucks even more now. John Peter's idea of superman vs a giant spider without tights would have been more exciting then supes vs a giant fucking island.

Wow, anyone who likes crap like Tokyo Drift automatically looses my respect as a film critic :D Nothing personal, we just clearly have extremely differant tastes.
I normally don't like action films, and superhero films are rarely an exception. But I like any movie that is good, no matter the genre. I supose Superman made a shitty action movie, but for me, in terms of just a plain ol' movie, it was great.
For me.
Did I mention that the only reason I saw it was because I had to see a movie with some one and that was the only one we could agree on that couldn't suck that badly? I didn't see it because I actually had an interest in Superman, but now I do.

[edit] Nice, a homophobic too. Yup, I really respect your opinion. Next you'll tell me The Wizard of Oz was an unimaginative pipe dream.

first, i never said tokyo drift was good, its a crappy summer blockbuster movie, that gave me cool drifting scenes.

second, im not homophobic. too each his/her team, just dont hit on me.

3rd, the best movie has come yet so dont claim supes yet. Im pretty sure ddem1 is gonna be first in line to see Snakes on a Plane, i know that movie is gonna entertain me.

Yup, that's his job on this board after all.
What an admirable position to fill. Sure makes what he has to say easy to take seriously.
I don't know if Superman Returns is the best of the year, in fact I highly doubt it (and hope not.) But it could be the best superhero film of the year, which matters enough to me.
It easily beat X-men 3 for me.

Thats why i wanna see it too cause of the drifting. As Initial D fan, i am all about drifting.

It was only about time hollywood would see drifting is popular and make a movie about it.

Its a shame though that instead someone like Vince Diesel there is Lil Bow wow.....
