I want to believe that SFIV is happening, I really do. Image

I'm pretty sure Capcom would use their own guys though, despite the fact that I heard that they had trouble getting Ingrid's sprite together in CFJ because of the lack of sprite artists over there.

As I said, 2D is dead. SNKP is sailing that ship pretty much alone.

"I heard that they had trouble getting Ingrid's sprite together in CFJ because of the lack of sprite artists over there..." due to them using all their man power on SFIV.

I hope.

Well... anyway. I'm guessing that we are going to get some solid information on Gai, Adelheid, and Sho Hayate in about 3 weeks. This week they SNKP will reveal another team. Leaving them with only 2 more to go.

Quoted for truth. KOF needs this more than any game. I also agree with ya Femto about KOF 99, when I got that for my Dreamcast, I didn't think KOF could look so pretty. It was actually one of my fav KOFs now that I think about it, I played that one a lot.

And I never knew that about Ingrid's sprite, I guess Capcom has pretty much given up on 2D fighting....

I do hope that SFIV does happen though, like the rest of us here.

Street Fighter's 20th anniversary is in 2007 I believe. Maybe Capcom will have something special for us by that time.

Anyway, back to Gai. If they add him to the storyline in some way I hope they do it like this: He see's these KOF pansies fighting each other and he jumps in to interrupt their match to show them how a real man fights (that's why he's a solo entry in the video). The host of KOF allows him to fight the two teams who were in a confontation before Gai stepped in. Thus, Gai hands down a huge ass kickin on both sides, leaving the Ambercrombie KOF boys and girls sprawled out on the ground.

Then he sees Ash trying to act all cool and calm and splurting out one liners. He walks up to Ash and man-slaps the gay smile off his face, making him whimper like a gay dog. Then SNK would allow Gai to stay in while Ash did his thing to finish up the saga with a shattered jaw and his braces missing...since Gai slapped him so hard they flew out of his mouth.

Afterwards SNK let's Gai continue in the KOF arena as a fighter trying to prove he's the strongest. No drama. No "secret powers". No "I don't like to fight, but I'm fighting in a tournament anywavs." Gai would be an awesome character to have as a hero. There wouldn't be any questions like "Why is he fighting in KOF this year?" Why? Because he's there to kick some ass and prove he's the best. Short and simple.

Has anyone noticed that the sprites they use for the character endings in 2003 are really CLEAN in the PS2 version. I wish that they would use those throughout the whole game. Just beat the game and look at how clean the character's standing sprites are when Mukai is speaking. It looks like what they did for KOF 94 Rebout. Now all they have to do is at least add 3 frames of animation per move and stances and we'll be set. I hope that's a taste of what's in store for us.

I remember a long time ago, back in a EGM magazine around '97 or '98 I believe, where they compared the Alpha 3 hadoken animation to the SFIII hadoken animation. The Alpha animation had 6-8 frames I believe where the SFIII version has 13 or 14. I don't remember which. But they had each frame printed out for the people to see. It looked so awesome.

I can't say I remember a difference in the PS2 version but it has been a long time since I played.

Any who about this EGM thing. The Alpha 3 hadokens look like shit compared to the SFIII hadokens, it is really no contest. But that is still pretty sweet that they actually showed the frames of animation. Must have been back in the day when EGM did not suck complete ass. Now a days they put games like Ico and Nights on the most overrated games list. God damn retards.

Go play it real fast and see. I didn't notice it at first because I never pay attention to the character standing sprites in KOF endings. But just look at how clean they are...you'll be pissed that they don't do it for the whole game.

I noticed it and I didn't care for them.

Truth is, I like pixels. The neo's resolution is a bit too low, but 3rd Strike has the perfect resolution for sprites IMO. GGXX and its resolution just looks weak overall, it's not bold enough. I dunno...

Besides, if they're going high res I'd rather have them start from scratch than having them keep recycling the same old stuff.

I don't even want to start thinking about KOF with SF resolution and animation...it will make me sad. It's also the least SNKP could do by cleaning up all the sprites since it doesn't look like they'll be giving them a rehaul anytime soon.

Well I better save up 70 bucks to import NGBC. I'm going to predict that KOFXI will be released by March along with Samurai Shodown Tenka.

Ok so im in my crappy night lecture class and we started to take a break so i busted out my psp and started to watch some 3s and cvs2 videos. My friend and i were talking about how they were able to do the combos and w/e then my friend mentioned this CvS2 video where the game glitches if both people tech throw then do a super. Low and behold the guy who made the movie was SITTING RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! he was all like yah dood, i made that video. Ohayo is his player name. He placed 7th this year in Evo.

Evo 2k5 results.

Capcom vs SNK 2:

1st - BAS - [Japan]
2nd - Mago
3rd - Kindebu
4th - Combofiend
5th - RF / Ohnuki
7th - Justin Wong / Ohayo

Now at anytime i want to get my ass beat in CvS2, he is always up to play. Too bad he doesnt play 3s, but i got my friend to play with in that game.

just my little story that had to do with fighters.

I remember when Capcom Vs. SNK was announced... I screamed like a little Japanese school girl. Capcom vs. SNK 2 was a really awesome game. It could have used more work, but man, it was a dream for fighting game fans. I really wish Batsu would have been put in the game instead of Kyosuke. That was one of my main gripes about the game.

I remember in highschool when Capcom vs. SNK was announced how alot of the gamers said "man They need to do Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat for once." I just wanted to pile them in a room together with me in there also with a chainsaw.

At least your class mates knew what CVS was, no one knew in my school that such a thing was happening, hell most of them have nver heard of a Neo Geo or SNK.

Does KOF not have a Hero Team for this installment? Ash's team is just called the Ash Team. I guess he's pretty much a bad guy. I can't see Ash as really being a hero due to his KOF ending with his team and the Sacred Team. Bah! The KOF storyline stopped making sense for me after the Orochi Saga.

Here's some REAL KOF artwork.

I was just about to post that picture.

I've said it before but I'll say it again, thank god for Hiroaki on KOF. It was about damn time. Looks like he's been looking at Shinkiro's awesome use of colors in his group illustrations.

Anyways, here's an Adelheid scan for what I'm guessing is Arcadia:

Adelheid looks way more menacing than Falcoon's rendition of him. Damn he looks soo much cooler and not pansy-like. He looks to have gained a fireball technique also. Looks like a Kaiser Wave.

From the looks of that scan it seems they have the date set for Oct. 2005?

This may have been already asked, but is Adelheid in any way related to Rugal? The move he is doing in the screen on the bottom right looks the same as Rugal's f,d,d+f +K.

His whole name is Adelheid Burstein. From most of the things mentioned in the KOF story, it's pretty much Rugal's son who is also trying to become the strongest fighter in the world. But he's actually a good guy. Rose, his sister, is the crazy one. Adelheid is not really a part of Ash's saga. He's just in KOF to beat some ass. He has nothing to do with this awakening of the Orochi I believe.

I can't wait to see Hiroaki's new rendition of Gai. I mean Gai has REALLY bulked up in this game. I wonder if Hiroaki will draw him in that manner.

Also I wonder if people have figured out the KOF is it's own universe and that the chronological order of events in other series has nothing to do with what happens in KOF. I mean sure KOF uses some of the same ideas as other series do, but just because an event happens in one series doesn't mean it has to happen in KOF. I mean Geese is still alive in KOF 2003 for crying out loud. In Mark of the Wolves it proves that Geese pretty much was never really heard from again when his ass died at the hospital after falling off of a skyscraper. But he's in KOF 96 alive and well. Even in KOF 2003 after he beat Billy Kain he makes a remark that he's coming for his boss. I just laugh when people on other message boards try to fit the pieces together from other series into KOF. It just doesn't

The art looks simply fantastic. Glad to see the change in art from mediocre to great. Elizabeth looks so awesome IMO. So does Oswald for that matter. I can't wait to see some art for all the other characters.

Isn't Hiroaki the character designer of most of the Buriki One characters? I really wish that they would have added Adelheid as a toned down version of his 2003 self. I don't like the fact that he's still an over powered boss.

I've also found out that one of the mid bosses is Shion? Or some name like that. The other is Magaki? I'm not sure. But in total there are 3 end bosses from what I've gathered. It may be false information, but we'll see.
Gai walks up to Iori.

Iori rips his throat out.

LOL!!
Who know the age of Orochi will Return....maybe vice come back too....in KOF 06? (i wish next episode the boss is Rugal)
Gai,not much of style from a guy who wares underware....but dont he look much fatter than usual..
Man I swear. People sound so ignorant sometimes. I got this off of other boards just to show the awesomeness of fanboys and fangirls. The grammar has not been alteredd in any way.

Yes, I know I'm being a little fanboyish towards Gai. From the second quote it seems that now you have to have "STYLE" to be able to join a fighting tounament. Yes Gai looks like a typical cage fighter...but how many typical cage fighters do you see in KOF?

NGBC is being released on Dec. 22. I wonder if that gives SNK enough time to add in some extra characters. There are 40 characters in the game (41 if you count the 2 King Lions.) I would love it if they would add in about 5 more characters...I got them right here too

Gai Tendou (Buriki One) New sprites so it would be easy.
Sho Hayate (Kizuna Encounter) New sprites too.
Syo Kirishima (King of Fighters) Original hero design of KOF. Replaced by Kyo.
Alfred (RB: Fatal Fury 2) Super Secret Boss. Awesome ass character design.
Rick Strowd (RB: Fatal Fury 2)

or just take Rick out of the picture and add

Setsuna (Last Blade 2) I don't know about this one...too many sword users in the game as it is...

I would at least like to see some of these character in NGBC2. Especially Alfred.

I could go for some more MoTW Characters myself. Like maybe Kain, or Kevin.
