And just what was stupid about that scene?

Honestly, I'm worn out from defending this movie on other boards, and I don't feel like retyping it all. Copy/paste wouldn't quite work either.

All I know is I feel the majority of people who've seen this movie love it. I also know that this movie was extremely differant from what everyone seems to have expected it to be, and sometimes wanted it to be. I have my theories as to why some people didn't seem to *get* this movie, but it's complicated and I don't want to start a flame-war (which people on this board are *so* prone to do.)

In other words, I'm tired of defending myself, which is the only reason I'm not going to defend my views on this movie. Simply accept that there are plenty of decent people who loved it, and decent people who hated it, but in the end nobody is right or wrong.

I absolutely friggin loved it, and hope to see it again.

What's there to "get" about a superhero movie?

You won't defend it simply because you can't.

The movie is full of weak plot points, an unconvincing cast and unfaithfulness to it's source material, among other things.

It was a letdown.

Not my problem if you absolutely friggin' love shitty movies.

I have seriously studied film and I do have strange taste. I love both high-quality masterpieces and absolute crap.
But most people who know what my tastes in films are seem to think my tastes in film arn't bad.

Look, I've successfully defended every argument against this film already, just not to you guys, and it can't be easily summed up or rewritten. I don't take this board seriously enough to bother wasting my effort trying to change your minds.
In fact, my initial review that I posted was copy/pasted from the other board.

Isn't it even remotely possible that a person can have good taste in films, yet not like the same ones you do?

Oh, and although I don't see a review by him, it looks as if Quest loved the movie too :D

And on another note, I couldn't care less if the Superman movie sucks, I don't like Superman to begin with and never really liked him that much to begin With.

WOW, i just got back from Superman Returns, and shit i wasted my fucking money. It wasnt even worth my 10 bucks. hell fucking Fast and the Furious 3: Tokyo Drift was more exciting then this POS 250 million dollar movie.

Seriously, producer Jon Peters had a much better idea of Superman. No tights and fucking giant spider, now that would have been freaking awesome to watch then fucking Kumar kicking superman. Fucking Kumar didnt even have a line in the movie.

This movie was a total disappointment.

the thing about Jon Peters is from Kevin Smith's talk to some college, a great video to watch.

and once again im gonna say it, this truly was a shitty movie, it was fucking boring, over 2 hours of superman vs, what? a giant fucking island, lame i say lame. where the fuck is darkseid or doomsday or bizzaro?? this movie was a waste of money. 250 fucking million dollars, hope to god this tells WB not to do shitty movies.

I liked Superman. BUT I would say that it isn't the best superhero movie I've seen at all. If you want to compare it to Batman Returns, it's obviously less good. I tought the CGI was well done. I liked how they don't focus too much on action but rather on the story of Superman returning to earth and having to deal with Lois Lane being with another man and stuff like that. Lex's evil Plan is not really Amazing but it's allright. The movie remembers me of the old movies, Youth makes a Superman that is, maybe not like the comic book superman but rather like Christopher Reeves.

The scene with the bullet in the eye wasn't something special.

It's a soso movie that I enjoy because I love superman. I think it's maybe.... on the same level than Fantastic Four in term of quality.

All this fuss for a movie about a flying fag in tights   Now that I think about it, makes me want to see it

I agree Mournful (although I still thought the bullet thing really kicked ass. It's not that I was suprised to know that bullets don't effect superman, it's just the badass-ness of the idea.)
I agree that if you're not originally a fan of Superman, and not out of sheer ignorance (like myself,) then you probably wouldn't like it. It's not like the comics. It's not like the earlier movies (well...it's not like Reeve anyway). Really, it's not trying to be like any other Superman incarnation. It's just trying to show him from a modern, differant perspective.
People who are strictly attached to one view of how Superman should look/act/etc won't like this movie.
People who realize that a 70+ year old character needs to evolve to survive might appreciate it.

I've said all this before....but I'm just glad to hear more people who liked it. While working today, at my store in the mall with a big movie theater, I met a lot of people who loved the movie just as much as I did.
I even heard so far it's getting very nice ticket sales.

OH SNAP! give this guy a fucking klondike bar!!

btw, Click had a much more powerful story. yah its the same family crap story, but then ending at least was delightful. Adam owning that the next store neighbor's kid with the cigar was just ownage.

I forgot to add, but there was one part in superman that i liked. The kids camera phone shot of superman lowering the car, is a homage to the first action comics cover of superman. other then that, it was no comic movie, which ruined it.

I didn't care that much except I met this b!tch the other day who really got on my nerves about the movie. She absolultely refused to see it because to her if it's not Reeve it's not Superman, and she was sure the movie was awful. Without seeing it.
And she wouldn't acknowledge that there ever was anyone else who ever played Superman, or that he fictionally existed in any valid other form.
She was a real b!tch.

and to half: heh, I thought I was the only one who spotted that moment.
I supose it was too iconic to miss.
