About Dogs, it was more of an introduction to his real series which is on going at the moment, Dogs: Bullets & Carnage, not much of it is out yet, so if you don't like to wait for releases, I suggest you stay away from it for some years.

I started Death Note from where the anime is now personally I like the anime but the story is pretty good. I just got to the part about Near and Mello pretty interesting.

You have to read the manga from start.
You cant jump over the best part of the manga just cause of the anime version. Light vs L is the best thing in the manga.
I have only seen the first eps of the anime and its clear its not as well done as the manga.
Who would you wanna tell you the story? The mangaka with her own manga or some anime people with toned down anime.

The manga got ruined after L's death I think. L vs Light is actually the best part of the manga too, its deceiving to see the story going dumber at the end, he was doing so much better with almost nothing to start with.
Near did way too much talking compared to L going more to the point. And the talking wasn't making him look more intelligent, just more boring.
Anyway, this to say, if you start from where it gets bad, you might find the manga less appealing then the anime.

Exactly it isnt fair to the manga to start from after L.
I agree completely about Near, he wasnt nearly as interesting or as smart as L that they had dumb down Light for Near to look good.
If Near had been as well done as L, the manga would have been much better.

Your probably right I should read the begining of the manga, but from where I am now its going to be hard... maybe after I get to the current release of the series.
Is still like the manga with L,M,N but you are also right about the dumbing down of light and the excessive talking with Near but you also have to remember that Near is only ?? 15 or so and he has to explain everything to the US gut where L has working alone... most of the time
I wonder if there is an O or a P out there

Has anybody ever read King of Wolves or Japan by Miura and Buronson? I was thinking of checking them out, but I wanted to see if they were worth buying.

Japan is pretty bad, Ourou is quite decent.

Currently besides reading Berserk, I am reading Bleach and D.Gray-man.
I really love the Bleach manga. It is just a thrill ride IMO. Recommend it highly to anyone who enjoys Shounen.

Recently I started reading Flame of Recca for the first time, my appreciation is below average for now.
Read Emerald, which is a oneshot from the BOTI author, its a 15 mins read, but I enjoyed those 15 minutes.
Also finished reading Flag Fighters... What can I say, dont read it, it's the worst I've read in the last year.
Apart from that, whats new is Ubel Blatt and XS which are awesome. CAT seems to be continuated, hope to see more of it.

First manga I ever read was Ah! My Goddess in 6th grade. I made the incredibly ignorant 6th grader's deduction that all manga must be equally lame (no offense to any AMG fans out there). That being said, I discovered the Berserk anime in college and then later the manga and have been following it ever since. The other mangas I'm actively reading right now are Naruto, Bleach and my newest discovery, CLAYMORE! I love this manga. I haven't been this excited about or absorbed with a manga since Berserk. It seems to borrow quite a bit from Berserk, in terms of setting, theme and style, and that's a good thing for sure. Is anyone else reading Claymore on this forum? I wish a scanslating group would pick up this underrated series since Inane abandoned it after ch.7, hopefully the new anime will make it more popular.
P.S. Nice forum you have here!

Inane didn't 'abandon' it, it was licensed by Viz. It was dropped it because they don't do licensed mangas.
Viz has released up to volume 8. It doesn't make sense for any other manga scanlation team to pick it up. The only other way for you to read it is to purchase it and support the mangaka.
I don't read any mangas but Berserk is the only must read for me. And also, the mangas this group scanlates, but mostly because of obligation.

Yes their are other people reading Claymore around here.
Are you familiar with this site:
http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=1037
If you are, you should know Manga-Sketchbook scanned the volumes up to v07.
And just recently an anime of the manga as been coming out too.

Yeah, it seems that manga-sketchbook has started to scan it. I wouldn't know since I don't read other mangas anymore, hence I am not as connected to the scanlation scene as I'm used to. Doesn't make sense for me to check other scanlation groups out if I'm not reading their work.
But yeah, by all means, download it. Otherwise, buy it so you can have it in the book format glory. Many people are introduced to the manga by the anime format, so this may be why there is many people beginning to notice this relatively obscure gem.

For the first time in all my 7 years of reading manga i have totaly lost interest mostly cause the groups that scanlated my mangas stopped or took huge breaks or something.
I only have one manga i love and who comes out regulary its Hajime No Ippo.
Berserk is great but i dont feel as much for it right now i dont know why.

I'm aware that Viz is actively translating and releasing English-language volumes of Claymore, and that volumes 1 -7 are already out, because I purchased them all. But as far as not scanlating licensed manga, what about Naruto? It's also licensed yet they (Inane) scanlate chapters/volumes that haven't been printed in North America yet, right? And correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression volume 8 of Claymore would not be released in the U.S. by Viz until June. So in that sense, Viz did sort of abandon Claymore in a way, because they chose not to continue scanlating the later and current chapters that haven't been published stateside yet, the way they do with Naruto. I just wish Inane or some other scanlating group would scanlate into English the newer chapters an impatient, Japanese-impaired Claymore fan like myself would have no other way of reading prior to Viz's 2-month volume releases.

It is really up to the group, scanlation/fansubs are relatively prosecution free but is definiently not 'grey area' as far as the law is concerned.
The laws (Bernes Convention) is very specific that if one country holds the copyright, then the other nations much also uphold the copy right. So even if it was 'unlicensed' in the US for example, the act of scanlation/fansubbing is illegal by International Law.
So, it all comes down level of comfort and what you 'feel' is the most responsible way keeping yourself and fans of the anime/manga happy, but always remember that what we do is illegal.

Bah, there is not even enough groups to cover every manga that aren't licensed, so its even more when it comes to those licensed. Simple as that, if you like it that much, get a translator + raws and start a group.

I have offered to do cleaning/editing/proofreading for Claymore but alas, finding a willing translator is the hardest part.

I just love it when those things happen, makes you remember old times when EG did a bunch of GANTZ, but in way less of course.
If you still want to help, you could always try to contact them and see if you can help.
