Digital animation or cel animation?

by Femto
The problem with this thread, aside from the fact that it's a spam thread in it's purest forms, is that the same questions are being asked over and over. I'm pretty sure I asked 2D or 3D a while ago, and a lot of the recent questions seem familiar too.

Digital animation does not mean 3D animation. .___.

Well, if you really get into it, yes it does. The term digital animation implies that whatever it is you are animating is done so digitally. It's doesn't need to necessarily be 3D, it can be Flash based or whatever but, if it's animated entirely inside the computer, it's digital animation. On the other hand, you could create 2D hand-drawn animation, cels even, and paint it digitally but it wouldn't be digital animation. The term digital animation is too broad and can easily lead to confusion, specially now that so little is done without a computer. If you were talking about coloring techniques only, then a better way to pose this question would've been "painted cels vs. digital paint." Trust me on this one.

Regardless, drawn animation/painted cels vs. 3D animation/digital ink and paint, it's a very similar question, and whoever picks one side will stick with it, no matter how many variations you can come up with (analog/digital, 2D games/3D games, paintings/pre-rendered images, etc). My point is that this thread is pointless, boring and repetitive and it should be locked. It was started by Buzkashi after all, the king of spam around these places, so that should tell you something about this thread's ambitions.

You forgot text based games. :P

JK, I know it doesn't fit with the discussion, but sadly I agree with you about lockiing this thread. I liked it when I first started posting, used ti alot to get my post count up, but now I am tried of it, and I generally try to post in better threads. I still like the song game one, and the what are you listening too, maybe because htey are more themed adn require some thinking, but still don't post in either of those that often.

The only reason I see keeping this open is its a goo place for newbies to post instead of starting stupid threads and becoming n00bs. It is a helpful way to get your posts up so you don't feel as intimidated posting, as you would wiht a low post count. Though you really shouldn't I think some people do.

Well either way I don't care now I guess, though still leaining towards lock, since post count really means nothing. I just find it funny that I have passed Buz, again. I like to think I spam less than him, but maybe not.
