I believe it's from Metroid or something, not too certain on that.

It became famous because of horrible translation, which was common in the early days of games coming from overseas, companies didn't have the linguists, or didn't care enough to properly translate things.
Example, a screen from the ending of "Blazing Star" on the Neo-Geo:
