We had a good flow going till people became bitches about rules. We had four guys, and two of them switched off being the DM. So we had some pretty cool times. One of my favorite dungeons was one in the legendary vault of some rich dea monarch. when you steped on a certain square on the floor below one of his vaults, the ceiling gave way and gold rained from the skies and possibly killed you. :)

Tempest: easy solution, the DM has final say no matter what. That is reinforced, if they argued they were dead or the their character kept alive like Shiavo while the rest of the group played beat the vegatable and stole their loot. D&D is about having fun, if an argument isn't settled in 1 minute, then the DM should step in and give judgement... fuck the rule book, I just want to have fun and as DM I want the group to have fun. Having to many rules to go by (this is why I hate D&D 3rd and 3.5 editions so much) causes more problems and basically sucks the fun out of just RPing.

See, that would work with logical people, but they are (were) the type to just up and leave if shit like that went down. Whiney little bitches. They should be glad that I never DMed. "OK, and while you are bickering... uh... a herd of wild giant flesh-eating zerba-unicorns comes charging round the corner to kill you. Don't even bother rolling for saves, you will fail. Oh, and pass the Mountain Dew!" :twisted:

Tempest: It is very hard to have friends with that kind of personality, if they seriously wanted to play and have fun, they have to trust their DM. If they are like that, then they shouldn't evening being playing in the first place. Just refuse to play with them again, it will either cause them to straighten out or hopefully, they no longer are willing to be your friend which more than likely is a good thing. You shouldn't have friends you can't trust.

Besides, just ask Southpaw or Pyro (aka Mr.Hippie) how we role when we play. :P

WEll, I stopped talking to both of those guys like months ago, so it aint no thang. So then, how do you guys role play? With big broadswords made out of cardboard? :lol:

That's right, the DM is god. That's all there is to it. It just makes things so much easier. Besides, I like being in control, heh. :P

I play with a baggy of dice and my 15 year old books (just in case I get a rule nazi who wants to argue with me, then again they don't win because i'm DM... hah).

Whenever I get lip, i role my 30 sided die. There is an audiable hush that befalls the room as I scribble nonesense into a spiral notebook.

Gaming equipment:
* spiral notebook
* bag of dice (3 sets of 1d4, 1d6, 1d10, 1d12, 1d20, 1d30, 1d100)
* 24 cans of Coke
* 16oz Rum
* DM guide (optional)

Rules:
* DM makes shits up on the fly
* Try to start all characters out at 0 level and buid them up
* Each time a character fails a saving throw, I take a shot of rum
* Each time a character tries to pick up a hooker, I take a shot of rum
* Each time a character tries to fondle of the guide who happens to be the goddess Mystra... they die, again... and again... and again.

^_^

Dude, if you were to play with some noobs, you'd be drunk as hell and they'd be deader than a door knob, heh.

I would think the rum and coke would only add to the confusion, not make it less. Although I have never given thought to playing D&D whilest hammered. Sounds like fun.

Anyway, with the dice, we had some like fickle deals with dice. We had one set that we are convinced was cursed. No one ever wanted to play them, so we all got our own sets. The one thing I always wanted to get but failed was a chain-mailish dice bag at the local Card/Tabletop gaming store. It was soooo cool. But it was like $30, and it was just about the time I stopped playing D&D and got into another money-draining, nerd game, Magic: The Gathering. Oh man, I must have subconsiously hated money for like 5-6 years of my life, switching from Warhammer to D&D to Magic, although D&D was the least money consuming.

Yes, the more I drink.. the more tolerating I become. However, my anguish factor decreases... helps me deal with newbies. I'm what some people would consider a story telling drunk... "listen to 'ol man psi29a... "

Mmmm.. magic, my family is quite dangerous in playing MTG. We are VERY cut-throat and I'm just mean, I'm not there to win.. I'm there to make YOU quit first. :P

Oh I've played some Magic Bastards before, believe you me, they said fuck it to new crazy cards, and lived in the past, with their old wacky broken cards. Using like cards in Ice Age that were most definately broken. They also liked to make a rule in their like tournies that once a person won, they made up new rules that applied for the rest of the tournament (Like a permanent Mana Flare). And these would just pile on one another.

Kjeldorian Frost Beast+Lure+Fog = Your opponent starts hitting you over the head for using such an old broken combo. I remember having a deck of newer cards, I must have had about a dozen creatures out, damn guy with that old combo wipes out all but one of them in one turn. :evil:

Never under estimate a channel+streamoflife, specially when the target accepts the life and you false cure 'em. It feels soooo good when they cry.

/me is one of those old farts that started playing when the Dark was released back in 1994. Damn, has it really been 11 years?

I have learned not to underestimate any cards, since I've been playing with Ayanami. He makes some sick decks. He helped one guy with a deck using elvish channeler and Day of the Dragons to turn puny little 1/1 Green elves into flying 5/5 Red Dragons, by like 5 turns in or something like that. Crazy.

/I started playing big time about Oddessy block.

Well, I'm going to catch some Zzzs. However, feel free to start up a Magic, D&D, or other threads over at the Gamage section (it just isn't limited to computer/console gaming). I really don't want this thread to degrade down into a pit of Magic ravings... I typically like to keep that int he realm of StarCityGames or the Vortex.

I remember when I first started playing magic. I was in 5th grade. I remember every-other-day I walked home from elementary school I would stop by the comic shop and get one or 2 packs. I stopped playing in my Sophomore year in highschool. I still have a full set of unlimited and a shit load of cards from beta all the way up to... I think it was Oddessy, because I have new multicolored cards. But I'm planning on selling everything when I get out of college to have money to fall back on while looking for a job...or maybe to just get a new car. That is if Black Lotuses don't drop below go up in value from their $200 price. I got some Moxes too, but their only worth about $50 to $75 last time I checked.

I'm gonna have to pull out my folders. I'm gonna do it right now and search all the ones on starcitygames.com. Thanks for the website by the way. I'm pretty sure I had 3 Lotuses from beta and 4 from unlimited. This was back in the day when you could have more than 4 of the same card in a deck. And I remember having a shit load of moxes...at least 2 to 3 of each from beta and 2-3 of each from unlimited. but i'll give you the exact numbers later tonight. Right now I'm gonna check the Arabian Nights set to see if it has gone up in price any. ; ;

Yes Arabian Nights has gone up a shitload. Your welcome for the website. I'm going to put up a short list of 100 dollar plus cards to help thine quest for cash.

Mana Drain
Time Walk
Time Twister
Ancestral Recall
Library of Alexandria
Juzam Djinn
Moat
The Abyss
Illusionary Mask

Also dual lands go for 20 bucks each for unlimited and 150 dollas for
beta's.

Also if you have any considerable amount of beta cards you should price them out, they are worth an assload. Example Shivan Dragon = $150

Update: First set I started out with was Alliances. I knew I would be disappointed but damn that set is almost 10 or 11 years old and not one card in there is over $3.

I'm going to leave my Beta/Unlimited folder for last. I'm going to start with Arabian Nights and go all the way down to Exodus. Because I'm pretty sure that cards from the Urza block all the way up to Odyssey haven't changed that much in price.

Edit: I'm skipping class and I'm not going to work today. LOL!
