It seems that both sides will fight for unofficial ownership of Guts. o_O
What I'm waiting for is the character development of the Dragon Slayer. It bugs me that we still don't know how that thing managed to take care of the dragon, since no one could wield it. It's always been bugging me that there is almost nothing known about the Dragon Slayer besides the fact that:
A) Godo forged it to make a point.
B) It did some badass shit that no one knows.
C) Whatever the hell happened caused a big-as-hell uproar in the kingdom.
I truly believe that Miura has something incredible in store for it. o_o

Wait, did I miss something about the DragonSlayer? I thought Godo made it ridiculously huge so that no man could wield it because dragons dont exist. I dont recall anything about it slaying a dragon, and it only causes an uproar because its so big. Of course it is special since Gutts started using to slay demons and apostles. But what kind of character development can you do for a sword? Seriously.

Volume 14, Chapter 93.
Goto explains why he built the dragon slayer.

oh, I stand corrected. Wonder why I thought that. Interesting.

Um, I've explained this before, but there was no dragon. The dragon is a metaphor. The sword itself represents the dragon, and since no one could use it, then no one could slay the dragon. Godo was exiled for making a sword that none of the kings men could use.
Volume 13, chapter 3, page 19 (Right after he kills the apostle)
Femto wrote:What I hope happens in the next few chapters: An all-out war between The Apostle army and Ganishka's or something similar (it's been long overdue after so many chapters of nothing/build-up).
That's probably what's going to happen dude. Miura isn't like Kishimoto (Mangaka of Naruto). He understands the essentials of story telling, and I doubt he's going to go all anti-climactic on us. I'm not saying Ganishka is going to be defeated here, but I'm definitely expecting an awesome fight to rage throughout the city.

What the hell are you talking about? I've never heard anything about this. Much like Zodd actually turns into a giant furry monster, I'm pretty sure that Ganishka actually turns into a massive thunder cloud or whatever.
I do love you!!

Have you thought about the possibility that Guts gets so emotional now when he sees all the apostles rounded up with Griffith that he accepts the emperors proposition? Because he needs an army to even get near Griffith

I think there's no possibility whatsoever of Gatts joining Ganishka. He's another apostle to him, and that, in the end, makes all the difference.
Oh, and thanks a lot EG!

@Istvan: You got the point. I think the only way an army of monsters can be perceived as a savior is by having the pope sort of endorse them. He probably did that already.
To me the greatest thing about this chapter is getting to see Guts in his trademark badass mode once again. He sure knows how to talk! And any chapter with GUTS & A LOT OF APOSTLES rocks - guess I'll be very happy with the next one

true indeed. one thing we've seen from the past dealings w/ Mozgus & his disciples is that the people will be willing to accept even the most barbaric and weird looking "saviors" if their lives are in danger. the fact that these individuals claim to act in the name of a god only gives the people an excuse to believe in them. it also gives them a way to explain the weirdness and barbarism as god's will that the average human isn't supposed to understand.

Ah read Naruto as well?
You've probably read chapter 306.
Ugh, Miura needs a better way to build up suspense then to draw a dozen fucking portait's.
Cant wait untill the next release.
I keep thinking up ideas for good fan art but I'm just too lazy to draw them >>

WTF!!!

Dude he has been building suspense for over a year man this is the beginning of the climax of this Arc, get your head out your ass and pay attention

Oh yeah, those fucking portrait's are what sets Miura apart from all the rest (that and many other things too

)

I think he meant Kishimoto and his Sai "character development"

I don't think that Ganishka and Gutts will ever join forces but it is quite possible that the shaman (whatever his name is) who's constantly being bolted aside from his beloved emperor may defect and join Gatts.
I mean, afterall, he just found out that Gatts himself is a branded human and I would think the two share more similarities than the shaman does with his king. Then again, maybe the shaman's power only comes from the king making him useless without the King.
Oh well, another pointless theory but with the shaman on Gatt's side, the apostles may have much less of a power difference over Gatts.

yeah 15 panels of pictures hanging on a wall.. poorly drawn pictures at that...
The only saving grace is that its an "every week" manga...
Bleach is so far doing so much better story wise than Naruto though... Bleach's author Kubo is alot like Miura in that something barely mentioned 200 chapters ago is suddenly the focus of a major plot point... something you should have remembered or maybe did.... Also occasionally doing things that make you re-examine the entire series to that point.
In any case yeah this was an awesome chapter.
Think though about what all Guts has done on the "day" that the manga is on... its still the same day as the fight with serpico, the tigers in the ball room, ect...
He's had a HELL of a day... and its not over yet.
I'm kind of hoping that we get Guts and crew leaving the city... and as they sail off to Elfheim we see the city engulfed in a raging battle of which we won't know how the hawks won or if they did until much later on.
Its been a long long time since the beach... and its high time they actually reached their destination.

He already has Schierke to fulfill that role, and the shamen doesn't seem to be all that impressive without that magical creature to boost his abilities. As a magic user, he doesn't seem all that impressive on his own, and I can't see him joining them, especially since his dream was to "found a magical empire" and I can't see any way to accomplish that by working with Guts (Guts has no desire to conquer) while he might achieve it by working under the Kushan Emperor.
On another note, I'm really hoping that Guts and Co. take this opportunity to leave the city, since given what Guts has endured so far, I would really have trouble believing that even he can keep fighting for all that much longer without dieing.

This was a good read. Thanks EG.
I honestly was getting tired of the old monk. It looks like there will soon be a big fight. Can't wait.

Thanks again, guys.
Great release, gave me goosebumps again

looks like hell is breaking out on earth and looks similar to the pictures once shown when the princess told the story about the fallen kingdom in that tower where griffith was held.
And today Brasil : Croatia .... be sure to cheer on the right team

A great chapter and i dont for Ganishka i hope for the fated final battle beteween Guts and Zodd.
For a sec i thought Guts was foolish for saying no to Kushan king cause he could use the army to destroy neo hawks.
But Guts hate for Apostle is too strong for that plus he woulndt be able to work with them since they kill and have killed so many humans.

I guess the clash between the two armies will be the opportunity for Guts and his friends to try and retreat, but I think the appearance of Griffith should cause some complications

I wonder if they will get a chance to retreat beteween in the middle of the kushan king and Griffith's apostles.
Guts might have to do something to give them a chance to flee.

I think Guts will try to beat a hasty retreat for now. He'll probably hijack one of those flying creatures, but unlikely though. Somehow I think Schierke will play an important role in the next chapter. Hm.

i wouldnt want them to retreat. its an epic clash and withdrawing the main characters from the story is anti-climatic.
this new arc will last a long time i think.

I don't think it's anti-climatic. Roderick and Manifico (sp?) will surely die, and almost everyone. What I think we're going to see is Gatts and co. going to Elfhelm, and then two other chapters showing the fight - just like the one when Griffith saved Charlotte...
