Thor working with SHIELD surprised me. I thought he would work for the other side because he respects brave warriors saving people out of altruism rather than working within the system. I have to think that the human side is in control, rather than Thor himself.

I am so glad that the run of one of the best writers in comics has started in my fav comic. Before i could only dream about Grant Morrison writing Batman.

I don't think Tom Cruise will play Tony Stark, just a gut feeling of mine.
Marvel don't really choose any Hollywood superstars like his status (however famous or infamous) as their lead roles.

his movies recently havent even been very successful have they? war of the worlds maybe...I dont think cruise draws the fans in like big execs may think he does.
Haha you must be joking. MI3 was uber hit in the rest of the world. It topped 99% of the countries in the world It sure didnt do bad in US iether.
Cruise is great cause he pick roles he is good at like Collateral which he was cool in.
He is prolly the most famous male actor in the world right now cause he attracts from fangirls to people like me who likes his movies for the genre they are.
Pitt and the rest are way behind.
His wierd vibe right now might hurt him alittle but people has short memories noone will remember in a couple of years.
Back to comics.
I just read Fables up to issue 50. Its so unique comic. Have started to read Hellblazer too.

Ever since coming home I've been goingto Borders and reading a few comic series each time I go in there. I pick some stuff up, get a soda, and sit in a big comfy chair, relishing in my geekdom. It's mostly been Marvel because I'm more familiar with the stuff, but I'm trying to branch out. So far I've been able to read:
House of M
Avengers Disassembled
1602
Infinity Gauntlet (I never got to see the last two issues)
The Ultimates Vol 1 and 2
Parts 1 and 2 of Ultimate Galactus
Ultimate X-Men Vol 1
I've looked at a number of titles they have there and will soon be reading:
Red Son
Batman Yer One
Any Hellboy I can get my grubby hands on.
My point were in top 100 its only superheroes which is sad cause that means they will stop making comics like 100 Bullets who are needed more than a tenth Batman ongoing comic or a crappy comic like Black Panther.
I enjoy Vertigo comics like 100 Bullets,Fables,Y the last man more than 90% of the supes i read. Cause they give you what supes can never give.
I read just today a great column by Erik larsen that people should buy the comics type they want instead of buying a comic like Black Panther where all the fans compare how it sucks but they still buy it and Marvel will keep making comics like that.
Which is why i dumped Nightwing from my pull list despite it was one of my comics before the new writer. Which was good cause it seems alot of other fans stopped buying NW too and voilà they put a new great writer on the series.

I don't think DC expects to have the same amount of sales with Vertigo titles that they do with franchises that have been firmly established for over 60 years.
I agree that 100 Bullets should be appreciated by a wider audience but I wouldn't worry about DC pulling the plug on them.
It's won many awards and is critically acclaimed, they'll never give that up.
Same with Fables.
EDIT: Link me to that Erik Larsen column if you can, I'd be interested in reading it.
Vertigo live on trades. I check trade wise which sells best. Vertigo do better than most superhero in trades. Which is a given since many people buy trades when they are new to a series that existed a while.
I know DC wont pull the plug on Vertigo titles cause many of them are like 100 Bullets,Fables criticly acclaimed. 100 Bullets and Fables together have 20 Eisner Awards.
I just wish more people tried Vertigo books cuase they are missing many great ones just cause they arent Superhero.
Anyway where are you on 100 Bullets? I am on vol 7.
The column isnt only about that but further down its about how to make yourself heard by showing in sales which comics they should keep making and which not to make.

It's amazing how he can make every character look completely different from the other.
On the one hand, you have someone like Michael Turner who draws pretty much the same hot woman over and over with only minor variations.
On the other hand, you have Risso and the countless women he's drawn all of which look entirely different, can easily be told apart and all of which are every bit as good looking as the next one, but in very different ways.
His drawings have only the exact number of lines and shades necessary to show the picture, nothing less, nothing more. His art is polished down and boiled to it's essential storytelling elements without Jim Lee's detail or Adam Hughes' flash (which is not to say that these two guys are bad, they're just good for different reasons).
I've learned a lot from just looking at his art.
He really is amazing.
Honeslty? The book is worth buying for the art alone.
Add Azzarello and the dark, twisted world he's created and 100 Bullets is a no-brainer purchase.
PS: Risso pisses all over Frank Miller.
PPS: I read the Erik Larsen column and he's right about lots of things.
