Libaax wrote:when Peters spider powers becoming mystikal was when it got good.
I have to disagree with that. I found that extremely terrible. It was a bad decision to retcon his origin.

They didnt really retcon, the spider side of him or whatever said in The Other that he coulndt have know that the spider who bite him had mystikals powers or not, that it was his childish mind that thought the radiation gave him his powers.

For me i always found his radiation spider origin to lame and clichè, reminded me too much of Daredevil's origin.

I do like that he got his powers from a mystikal spider. My fav part of ASM since the original Venom story is the arcs when Ezekiel showed up and we got to know where his powers really come from.

Its so sad that since the other they havent showed his new powers like the seeing in the dark, feeling the vibrations in the spiderwebs.

I hope after CW they go back to that.

Well, the mystical side of the 'spider' didn't work for me. It feels like eradicating a well-established origin and adding mystical bullshit into it. Yes, I think that mystical crap is bullshit. It is considered a retcon when they say 'Peter thought it was radiation but it was actually a mystical spider' after over 30 years of having that origin. I might be conservative about this, but I think some things should be sacred, like their origin. I guess there are people who like it, that's why it sells. And I think Daredevil came later than Spider Man, so it should be 'Daredevil's origin reminded me of Spider Man', Daredevil has been accused in the past as an imitation of Spider Man.

Yeah of course i know DD came after him but i find it boring that they both had almost the same origin.

I found all origins with radition very lame, Hulk etc.

I dont always like mystikal stuff but in The Other and the arcs before it his new origin was done in a very good way.

If they dont make him start using his new powers minus the stingers(they are stupid), then the other and the arcs before has been useless and that would suck to waste the best thing that has happened to him in more than a decade other than old "MJ leaves PP for the 10000 times"...

JMS killed Spider-Man for me.

Peter David will probably do a good job with his book, but Ultimate Spider-Man is where it's really at.

I read the first three hardcovers and I honestly cannot see why Libaax dislikes them so much.

I had absolutely no problems with the Venom arc and the issue where we see what goes on inside the Goblin's head was top-notch.

"Tell him about the circles."

My only complaint is that too many people know Spider-Man's secret identity.

Still, I'll be buying the next 2-3 hardcovers over the next few days.

Have you read the original Venom arc in amazing? Or the carnage in amazing? What did you think about Carnage in USM?

That many people knows his sectret annoyed me alittle too.

The first arcs with Green Goblin was very good prolly better than most Green Goblin stories in amazing but after that it went downhill for me.

About others comics i adore Planet Hulk part 2 specially how he goes from angry to a leader to the slaves etc. His fight with Silver Surfer was nice.

I read three more Ultimate Spider-Man hardcovers and I still can't see why Libaax hates it so much.

I do like the Carnage in the regular Marvel Universe better (mainly because of Cletus Kasady), but I don't understand why he's so sandy over the one in Ultimate.

The only thing that's left a sour taste in my mouth so far was how they took Gwen out of the picture.

Way too small for such a great character.

Yeah what they did to her and how bad the carnage arc were was when i started to get annoyed with USM.

I cant believe how they changed Carnage some kind of a clone or something specially since the guy that became Carnage in MU was awesome crazy. He even made Brock look sane sometimes.

About other comics, i have found a new fav writer.

Brian K Vaughn, i read him alittle in Ultimate X-men but Ex Machina and Y The Last Man are amazing.

Specially Y the last man is so wierd like Vertigo should be. I love it :)

Bendis does that for a lot of characters. Suddenly a guy's walking down a street...and a piano falls on him.

Hehe well I havent doubted you on that, or any other comic you have recommended(more or less forced to read what you read when it comes to comics anyway), but this one was fucking great, suprisingly so.

Hope Ex Machina is half-good, and I will be a very happy consumer of popular culture.

The above poster also reminded me I should read the Civil war issues, should be fun reading a more recent spidey issue that isnt USM.

the latest ultimate ff is great as usual. i am always excited to read the next page. and the art, more accurately, the colorist is amazing. justin ponsor is really a different breed of colorist.

i started reading "marvel knights: four". just the first issue.
its intriguing. penniless and homeless ff? thats a good story to tell.

i dont think anyone mentioned david mack yet. i apologize if we've gone over this, but i am really into with the Kabuki series and the other side stories relating to it.

David mack is one of my favorite american comic book artist. its takes a good while to understand what's going on because of the perspectives (in Kabuki, not the side stories done in regular comic book form). if you haven't read any david mack, you should. i highly recommend it. its one of the few comics that creates an elegant bridge between japan and america. basically, he knows his shit.

If you like him try his short Daredevil run, he wrote a very good storyline about a deaf girl.

Just bought the first three Civil Wars. I have to say I'm with Captain America.

Well that's one thing we can agree on, Buzkashi.

They're pretty much making the pro-registration side look like villains though.

I mean, Reed is being an asshole to Sue, Spider-Man is telling people to pull guns on the anti-registration side, S.H.I.E.L.D. is hunting down people that are trying to save lives and Iron Man beats Captain America to a pulp.

There's also the fact that the heroes always have the odds against them and in this series Cap certainly fits the bill, at least so far.

The series was supposed to be as neutral as possible, but I find it difficult not to side with Cap.

god damn... now i feel like a loner.

Did you guys see how Spidey went from not being sure he choosed the right side to attacking Cap and co in CW3 like he wanted to kill them.

I am not with Cap cause his side is right, i am with him cause Tony is acting like a Nazi as seen in CW: Frontline issues. Plus the fact that Tony and co work for the goverment annoy me more than Reed being a jerk.

I finished off right when Thorr came. Does the main line of Civil War go past issue 3 as of now?
