Yeah, I'm looking forward to the next chapter. I would like to see this fight be a good one, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

Now that's an expression of 'Oh shitz' on hıs face if I ever saw one.Femto wrote:![]()

If someone doesnt stop the fight or if Guts doesnt win i will be angry cause there is no way that Serpico should tie with Guts. Serpico isnt all that plus he is a mere human while Guts have faught Zodd the strongest of all apostles equally so Serpico should be a walk in the park....Wandering_Mystic wrote:hmm, I don't really think that look on his face is one of surprise. He's got those hawk eyes, like Griffith can get when things are intense. Plus he's not even looking at the pillar or the DragonSlayer, as if he knew that the pillar would slow down Guts attack just enough for him to make his strike. This chapter will be fantasticular. I highly doubt Miura would allow either one to die or even lose to each other so easily... So although we all know Guts will come out on top somehow, I'm excited to see Serpico display once again that there is more to him than meets the eye...

It's funny you call Serpico a "mere human." What is Guts then, if not another mere human? He has been called that constantly by all kinds of apostles, but that didn't stop him. I think you're seeing this the wrong way. This isn't about who can slay or beat whom, but rather how far one is willing to go to fight for what they believe in, for what is important to them. The spotlight has been on Guts for a long time now, and honestly, he isn't doing as well as people think. The eclipse and the rise of the demons and mutilation of his comrades has totaly torn to shreds his original search for meaning in his life and forced him on a darker, even more uncertain path of revenge and hatred. Each step he takes on this path brings him farther and farther away from his humanity (literally and metaphorically through the emergence of the beast). It's getting harder and harder for him to keep his demons at bay, and if something doesn't change soon, he will be lost, transformed into the very kind of thing he hates so much. But with Serpico, this fight is important (at least to me) to really show more of what he is hiding in himself. He has his own internal struggles, not the least of which is his stange attraction to his half-sister, which doesn't seem to entirely sit too well with him either. Let me emphasize this: He is not stupid! He knows all too well what he is getting into, and how much of a suicide it is to take on Guts one-on-one. It should be obvious to everone by now that he is acting out of a desire to protect Farnese from the chaos that surrounds Guts.
That's why I look forward to the fight. Not to see one person or the other win or lose, but to see what kind of hidden reserves Serpico taps into and how far he will go for one of the noblest thing a human being can do, fight to protect a loved one.
(That said, Serpico has to face the music eventually and realize that there is no running away from the upcoming flood of demons and the like, but I admire hiim for going against all these odds in his own way, and for not sucking royally at it either)

Femto wrote:I think it's too early to say that Guts is "the strongest human in the world" at this point. He is definitely powerful, and I personally think Serpico cannot take him directly, but c'mon, it's a whole planet that we're talking about here. Boscogn came out of nowhere and he was just as powerful as Guts. I know, he's gotten stronger, but that doesn't mean that there isn't someone out there fighting apostles for some weird reason too. Heck, Silke could arguably fry Guts with the proper spell and she's human last I checked.
Serpico could take Guts down in the right situation and with a little luck maybe. Guts was pretty much losing when he fought him the first time IMO. But I guess we'll never know for sure. Miura did a good job at leaving that particular incident open for discussion. We'll have to wait to see how the upcoming battle turns out to be sure.
