People may not agree, but actually the characterization in the beginning and the change due to the black suit were not badly done. What really cost the movie were real bloopers like jumping past the American flag just before the final battle, or the corny reconciliation scene with Harry in the end. (Not even mentioning the pseudo passers-by dropping random spider-man praise on Peter.
And of course that the final battle was a major bore, it was really all show and no substance. Not even spectacular, because it felt rehashed, somehow.

Also, the sandman was unfitting to the the Peter/MJ/Venom constellation, they should have left him out. Even a non-black-suited Peter could have gone haywire on the Sandman after finding out that it was him who killed his uncle. It didn't NEED the black suit to do it, and could have been kept for later.

So I'll disagree with everyone who said leave Venom out, no the Sandman was too much.

[Edit: This somewhat contradicts what I said earlier, but upon thinking about the movie again I've changed my conclusion.]

I still think the fist fight between Harry and Peter in the Mansion was the best fight. They went hard.

Are you kidding, the part were Peter breaks windows trying to hit Harry's face his a bad action movie cliche that goes back to the 80's.

*cough* John Rambo *cough*

Seriously, the dude's awesome, and I can't wait to see the new movie. I remember when they first started talking about it, years ago. I thought it was a false rumor, something that would never happen. Yet now, it's truth. Yeah, the guy's like sixty, but he's in shape. Besides, you don't have to be superman to blow people away with a superior arsenal.

He may be one of the only men who can take down Chuck Norris. *Serious look* Think about it.

Chuck Norris shadowfights against bullets. I doubt there is any chance in a close combat too, Chuck actually makes a tree fall with one of his kicks in a movie or TV show don't remember. Sending people flying is not difficult to him and he doesn't need any explosives.

Yeah, but when Rambo puts on his bandana, he's completely invincible. So I guess it'd be a standoff.

And it is a great cliche. No hoverboards, no wall running, no arm blades, just plain whoop ass.

Everything you say is true ("Killing is as easy as breathing" Hell yeah!), but let's face it: Barry Bond is a minor league player compared to him.

I just saw Pirates of the Caribbean 3, and damn that movie lasts long!! Dun worry, no spoilers :P I never got bored during the movie though... I think I liked the previous 2 movies better.(?) There was a lot more action in this one, but sometimes too much? Anyways, it's certainly worth looking, perhaps I expected more, or perhaps too much... 8/10? Go see it yourself... you bastards :D

well if you say 2 is better than the 3rd PotC then I'm definitely not going to go see it. i hated the 2nd one because it was too drawn out and thought the entire direction of the movie was stupid and that it would have been decent with all of the last 30 minutes chopped off.

Funny, I thought the second movie was much better than the first. I'm looking forward to the third much more than I was looking forward to the second.

Dead Man's Chest might very well have the best cliffhanger ending ever put on film, Empire Strikes Back be damned.

I love how Barbossa, after complaining about not being able to taste apples a couple times in Curse of the Black Pearl, takes a nasty bite out of an apple when he comes back in the second one.

I love those little details.

At World's End, how can i say this.... if you enjoyed the second movie, you will like the third. The third movie, though quite long, keeps you wanting more. AND there are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo parts in the movie where you have to be all like "oh snap i remember that fromthe ride."

I say go watch, it finishes the unplanned stories very well. OH YAH, THE MOVIE JUST LOOOOOOOOO FUCKING GOOD too. HOnestly the shots they do and the effects, completely amazing.

EDIT

Movie should have been rated R, no seriously not that lame pirate joke, the first fighting scene will make you think that way.

FORGOT TO MENTION....

There was a huge cheer for the Transformers trailer, which actually gave us footage of Optimus. My real only concern is that its Micaheal Bay, but i think that trailer got more cheers than Live Free or Die Hard, which will be awesome.

PotC 3 was, IMHO, better than the second, but it was still nothing more than an enjoyable, action and effect heavy adventure flick. At least it wasn't as boring as the second, and unlike the second movie there seemed to be some point to the action scenes.

Oh, and the bonus scene after the ending credits will really not please you. Well, it didn't please me, there were certain expectations I had which were not fulfilled...

Too much comedy and making too much fun of the hero. Which was lame in the first there was a good balance beteween fun stuff and cool stuff.

Knocked Up was very funny and quite enjoyable, though not as good as 40 Year Old Virgin.

I also picked up The Fountain and watched it recently. Everyone I talked to said it wasnt that good and it was too confusing or trying too hard to be something its not, but I really liked it.

Well, I did go see Pirates 3 last night. It was the first real date I've had with my wife in years. Thanks to my mom for babysitting. I really enjoyed the film though. I especially liked the battle on the maelstrom. I'd definitely agree to at least an 8/10 for this film. Also known as 4/5 stars. ;)

I enjoyed Pirates 3 as well, although I had some problems with the plot and some questions about some of the concepts they made. It's a truly beautiful film, I might go watch it for a second time later.

It should be noted that Pirates 3 was filmed before a complete script was done, but everything worked out quite well. It's best not to be picky about the film, and just enjoy the ride.

I also went to see that movie last night. I actually liked the storyline. I am probably getting soft, but I liked the way the 2 love-story intertwine (is there such a word). I somehow found it well done, with a possibility of history repeating itself. I hope they leave it at that though, and don't go with a #4. Maybe they'll go with a PREQUEL trilogy, Rise of the Black Pearl! Oh the novelty!

I doubt we'll see another Pirates of the Caribbean movie, but who knows. The love story was fine, but I didn't like the marriage scene during the fight. It broke the mood of the battle, and made the enemies they faced seem rather pathetic, if they could hold a ceremony, even a pitched one, while fighting off mermen on the cusp of a maelstrom. *shrugs*

*Watch out spoilers*

So many long and useless parts in that movie, really, really, really could have made the movie way shorter and still has good.
Deceived Chow Yun Fat didn't even give any good fighting..., still he acted is part ok I guess.
I think Will and Eliz looked out of character when they were acting dumb on themselves and trying to be pimp pirates. Pimping a Miss into a Pirate King in 3 movies seems to just ends up in her screaming a bad speech to a bunch of pirates who turn Emo all of a sudden.

I'm annoyed at all the Calypso talk and her actually chickening out with a simple storm, the useless pirates lords ending up being a total joke in the end was pretty lame too.
I agree, the ending fight would have been way better without the marriage, but the marriage would have made me suffer anywhere you would have put it, guess they had to please the female audience. And the fight needed a plot to look alive because its not a Jacky Chan movie where you look at fights only for the good moves.

Personally, I didn't like the ending, feels unfinished to me, when I saw that ending, I thought it was so lame it looked like an alternate ending or a joke, even if it was their goal, I still felt like I was ripped off.

Overall, I don't think they did a good job at wrapping the series up. Still I'd give the movie an acceptable score. I also doubt another movie is coming.

AWWW MAAAAN. I had kids with me that insisted we get up and leave before the credits were done because they were tired. The teenager even fell asleep and missed a few pivotal moments.

What'd I miss???? No worries, I plan to see it again. Maybe today :P

I missed that scene too, because I was in a rush to leave so I can go home in time (my train comes every half hour), but I've been told what it was anyway. I just think that scene, and the 10 year thing was a way to get rid of Will and Elizabeth in the next movies, and focus primarily on Jack and introduce new characters and plotlines (within that 10 year time frame). I felt that Chow Yun Fat was just a plot device, to be killed so Elizabeth could become a pirate lord. As for Calypso's 'wrath', I didn't think it was a simple storm, there was a freaking whirlpool. While more was expected of her power, I could only guess that Calypso has not fully recovered her powers after being bound to human flesh for such a long time. I think the marriage scene was just there so Will and Elizabeth could screw at the end. No marriage before sex and all that. If you're looking for a great plot, then you've come to the wrong place for Pirates. It was never meant to be a movie driven by the plot. At least it's not as senseless as Jackie Chan movies.

Despite some of the flaws, I found it enjoyable, and would love to see it again if I had the time (which I doubt). I have learned not to be so picky about the films I watch nowadays, and just enjoy the entertainment value. While I did feel the script was improvised on the spot, it was still a good ride.
