Re: Berserk Cosplay
Yeah, you could wear a flesh colored speedo so that you'd look like a Ken doll. Maybe that would be more appropriate, in more ways than one.

Indeed. We must not forget episodes 2 through 5
You don't really see that part of him in episode 21.

Re: Berserk Cosplay
Alright guys I'm still working out almost everyday to try and get in shape for my costume but I've run into quite a snafu.
While I was cross-referencing the manga with the anime for a better idea of the color schemes and other stuff I ran into this problem. In the manga we see Gats only with a shirt on while the eclipse is happening, hes got one on until some demons shred it off. However in the anime he has armor on at this time. Seeing how armor is not as easy to make as a shirt... I'll stick with the manga version. For his shirt I'm going with a light blue color if I can find one. In the manga it looks darker than his pants (off white color... maybe slight greenish). You can't really see it in the anime but once his armor comes off you can see some tattered remains on his waist. I have no idea how to make those cuffs for the pants.
Also I had a hard time seeing what type of shoes Gats had on. You can't really tell too much from the manga/anime other than the fact his shoes aren't laced up. However I was shopping for work shoes when I ran across a pair I think would be perfect.
Heres what I'm talking about.
Costume in general:

I don't plan on coloring those boots brown. Steve Madden's at $70...

Re: Berserk Cosplay
I don't think those are pants cuffs, I think the pants are tucked into the boots and those are the tops of the boots you're seeing there.

The anime does make it look alot more similar to pants cuffs, and that's probably simpler to do. But it would look better as the boot tops with the laces as shown in the manga. Also that picture from the artbook looks too complicated to bother with.

Just goes to show how much I know about medival clothing/costumes.
Guess I'll try to fashion something on the boots to make it look like that.
And that artbook pic I just posted was for shits and giggles... its near impossible to make. Thanks for the advice guys.

Re: Berserk Cosplay
Yeah, that's definitely the top of the boots folding down, not the cuff of his pants. Good luck with your costume Lonewolf.

you really are a noob at cosplaying if you think the artbook pic is near impossible to make. berserk kind of fluctuates on difficulty in cosumes, ie caska vs guts or shierke vs lady charlotte. i know charlotte is a total idiot, but i am really tempted because of the difficulty ... though i think more people would think it was from something else

Yeah, I am a total noob at cosplaying, which is why I'm trying to go with a unique costume thats mildly easy. And besides, I'd want a costume thats authentic whereas most costumes are frail and easily broken. Too bad I just cant throw on a bandana and call my self a ninjaThe Herald wrote:you really are a noob at cosplaying if you think the artbook pic is near impossible to make. berserk kind of fluctuates on difficulty in cosumes, ie caska vs guts or shierke vs lady charlotte. i know charlotte is a total idiot, but i am really tempted because of the difficulty ... though i think more people would think it was from something else

Re: Berserk Cosplay
Here's a hint on keeping your costume from not breaking: don't use glue or tape! Sew EVERYTHING! Leather, top stuff, EVERYTHING! Only stitching is strong enough to keep pieces together like that. For ornaments that obviously need to be made out of clay or paper mache back them with tough cardboard, then glue fabric to the edges of that cardboard with a hot glue gun then hand stitch that fabric to the fabric that you'll be wearing. Anything that will be moving or on a joint must be sewn. And double stitch in the areas where you think will get a lot of wear, especially anything that bears weight, like your scabbard. For closures use heavy duty snaps, or different levels of durability in zippers, depending on where it is. Considering that you're not wearing a shirt, the only closer you'll be worrying about will be on your pants, but considering your level of expertise you really should buy a pair from a thrift store. In your costume the difficulty will be in the accessories, especially the leather piece that goes between your legs. I suggest fake leather because it's easier to sew, and it's cheaper.
To get an authentic blood look mix fabric glue into a fake blood solution and splatter it all over your clothes. Hang the clothing while you're splattering it so that the blood drips down. For on your body you're gonna have to be really really careful with the fake blood because that stuff stains like hell. What I suggest is that you use the real fake blood for your face where you can regulate it, and on your body build up small globs of that scar stuff you can buy at halloween and keep it secure with spirit gum, then paint it with dark red body paint. For the cuts on Guts play with the fake flesh stuff and different colors of red body paint. The big one on your chest will be the one that most people will be looking at, so you can use the actual fake blood there if you feel you can be careful. Trust me, if you get a stain on someone else's costume they'll be really pissed.
As you can see, I've been conteplating a Guts costume for ever, but I don't know anyone who could remotely pull him off so I haven't done it yet. Which convention were you going to as this anyways?

Re: Berserk Cosplay
So heres an update on my costume.
Boots are done.
Pants... I have a couple options. I have a pair of blue sweat pants which I used for my Duffman costume last halloween:

But I also found a nice pair of Renaissance-type pants at a thrift store, only problem is they are white. I would need to dye them into grey/blue. Not sure which pair I should go with. Opinions?
Codpiece, about 25% done. Just picked up some belts and gonna get some scraps of leather tomorrow.
Shirt is done. Found a nice blue shirt for cheap.
And the demon horn... Looks like chicken wire and paper-mache are the way I have to go.
Oh yeah, my bodyfat is at 14.5% now.

Re: Berserk Cosplay
man, it's too blue, isnt it? the pants, i mean. guts' one is more of a grey/white one. you could also use some very light brown it wouldnt be bad, but these pants you've shown... i dont know.
are you thinking about covering yourself in fake blood too? (that'd be nice to see
the same for injures and stuff like that)
about the videos...
it's very cool that someone actually did them, but they cant scape from being a bit... stupid. the movements and the acting were so funny LOL
the cosplay were nice, specialy the SK one (really impressive o.o) and the sword on the second video gives us some notion of how difficult it'd be to swing it and how surprising to see someone doing it so easly ('cause THAT sword wasnt nearly as heavy and big as the original one and even so the guy couldnt move it right). Guts rules Ò.Ó
edit:
Man, just forgot to say it, but that Duffman cosplay of yours was very good
liked it

Re: Berserk Cosplay
I lucked out... I really really lucked out. I was able to get a friend to use a lathe and make the horn for me. The piece of wood cost about $40, and the labor was about $60... but tell me if you think it was worth it.
Warning I'm not wearing a shirt... trying to get used to feeling looked at bare-chested.
Pardon the flabby area that is my stomach... Party last night... lots of cake and junk food. I feel bloated.
Huzzah! Jesus Christ! Thats what I'm talking about!
Ok... apparently the GodHand want me to go to Otakon to chew bubblegum and kick ass...but they were out of bubblegum.
I'm so fucking psiched. (pun intended)

Its ok The Prince. I looked at my keyboard and was pretty sure it was a typo.
You're not too far off about the ass licking... though I have much higher standards than just plain old Apostles.
Its gotta be Slan's cheeks.
Fast forward to 6:50:
'Hey you vile evil woman! Don't be looking all down on me. Hey! Don't show me your ass!'

That demon horn looks great Wolf. You may want to paint it white and make it look blood spattered though, your call. As for Prince's typo, pretty funny, heh.
