From what I can tell, Fuji needs to rough out her work a lot more. It seems like she's going straight for outlines and that's a no-no any way you look at it.

I used to be really good at drawing DBZ characters.

I should try to do one sometime.

the part of the weapon near the head is not straight enough, other than that this drawing seems better than the first pictures you posted. I like the style. Your drawing lines aren't like what I'm used to. and your imagery as well.

Do you draw that with a pencil ?

EDIT:
here's a drawing I've made for artworks I plan to use in an album booklet.

Image

I'ts a caricature of me. It's probably going to be used instead of putting a band picture in the booklet. There's one drawing for my bandmate too but it's not scanned. and, no, I don't have hair that long. It's actually near the elbows though so it's long anyway.

i use nibs and pens of course. about the weapon, if you look at the shape, i thought u could tell that it it supposed to widen after the handle. but its good to know it can be misunderstood. i'm considering changing it. well see, ill let the idea set in.

i like the pose of the body in your picture. it sets a cool mood, i think. i like the style. are u going to keep it b/w?

No I think I'm going to put textures and photography with photoshop. I already started that. I've put colors and a background and stuff. I still need to finish it. I'll post it when it's done.

about the staff. I tought that indeed you might have wanted the part to be thiner than the rest, but I think it's not usefull since a staff would then be weaker on that part.

im looking forward to the finished piece.

So this might sounds kind of odd, but this is how i thought of it: the thinner part is not weaker, but more worn down. everything that is bigger than that part is more or less padding or just light metal. something that can be worn away if it is used enough.

the actual strong part is where you get to the "bone" of the scythe's handle, which is the parts covered with a tape of sorts. below the "thin" part of the scythe, there is a section where another handle is created by splitting it. i think i might have widened the part towards the top to balance it out. if it was just strait, I think it could disrupt things. on both sides of the taped thin part of the staff, it is wider, if i made one side thinner, then the weapon might look weaker and not as balanced.

These pics were taken about 3 secounds before it downpoured.
And 3 minutes later it stopped raining, but then it was dark. I took these less than an hour ago too.

The best sky photos are always when it's partly cloudy and about to rain on a sunset, which just happened to be the weather just then. All my best sky photos have been taken in that weather.

Nice pics Sarah. There's a cool mood in thoses..

So I worked on that drawing of mine and I don'T think I'm finished with it but here's what I've got for now :

Image

As I said before, I plan on using this pic inside an album booklet instead of a photography of the band. So any critic is welcome. I want to put it as good as possible. I tought I might put arms coming out of the hair, holding a dead bird. But other than that, I have no plans to add anything else (unless of course, people comment about something I haven't tought of ).

is the face a real photo? it looks real.

comments:
the 'real' face and hair stands out a lot from the rest of the picture which is all charcoal and sketchy.
the impression i got from your original sketch was that there was this fire on the ground that was melding with his long hair. turned out it wasnt suppose to be like i imagined.

other than that it looks real pro.
=)

MournfulWoods, I think the drawing is perfect as is. Adding more will often times destroy something already excellent.

SarahofBorg, those photos are really cool, keep them coming. I must agree with you about the setting being perfect for them. The second one was the best, the color of the clouds over the water with the sun setting in the background was just awesome.

Great news! I *finnally* bought a tripod. My pictures shall come out a thousand times better from now on! No more worrying about low light, unsteady cameras, and weird angles! It's a friggin godsend!
It would have been a lot of money, but I had a whoooole lot of coupons from Best Buy. I would highly recomend joining their rewards program.
Best part about this is that I can now start taking great self-potrait shots, which are nearly impossible without a tripod. I have many photos to post once I get around to it.
Tonight I think I'm going to go through the thousands of pics on my hard drive and organize/detele some, and back up as much as I can.
