What should be done about the avatar and sigs?
Moderator: EG Members
I could care less about signatures, however I left them on because I know people like them. I typically use text for mine.
bbtech allows for signature to display inline well with text and thus can sometimes take up less space than Aelous. However, there are times when bbtech takes up space because of a large avatar.
The forum templates are not broken, that is just the way they are and I think they bbtech and Aelous are one of the best free templates out there that caters to both crowds.
However, if people are really upset about the templates, then please find one that looks nice and I'll consider it.
I think enforcement of sig sizes and avatar sizes should be enforced, if any of the moderators sees that the sig is TOO big, please let the user know. Who cares if they get 5+ PMs about, their fault.
So, after all of that... what is the main problem again?
Templates, Avatars, signatures, or the fact that this forum doesn't scale very well below 800x600? Personally, if you can't at least 800x600... it is time to get a new monitor.

I actually voted a while ago, just didn't comment, didn't have time. I say neither, mainly cause I could care less. I use BBTech, and I don't find them a problem at all. I also use 1600x1200 so I find that everything is nice and small. High resolution pwns people upgrade your monitor, and go CRT screw LCD.
LCD Forever, I will never go back to CRT.
Trust me, after sitting in front of a 22" CRT programming for 8 hours straight (work) then coming home and getting online here on another one... it hurts my eye-balls.
I love my 18" LCD at home and my 19" LCD at work. 1280x1024 for gamage and working.
LCD reduces eye-strain, exposes you to significantly less radiation (yes, the harmful kind that will fuck with your sperm count), and gives you more desk space.

Anyways, what's the final verdict on this? The poll stands at 7-7 right now.
psi: The problem is not with the way the templates work, that has been discussed thouroughly before and everyone agreed that if the sig going all the way to the bottom is that big a problem, then they can just switch to BBTech. My main issue here is with avatar sizes, specifically their height. They increase the size of posts dramatically and it makes pages a lot longer. Look at the screenshots I posted on the first page, see how Buzkashi's post has all that wasted space? That's what I'm bitching about. I mainly want reduced avatar sizes so that threads get more condensed and become easier to read. We know how much spam goes around here, and it pisses me off even more, when I have to scroll a full page just to read dos' or Buzkashi's "nods."
It's ridiculous.

I fully agree with that.Arresty wrote:I guess to each there own. I prefer CRT, I have space so thats not an issue, and I like being able to use multiple resolutions, and higher resolutions, and having a higher refresh rate. Plus CRT is cheaper then LCD.

Ah, well.. redo the poll options and make it more clear.
"Avatar resize time" or "Avatars are fine as is"
I've argued this before, but people like the fact we can have large avatars. We can vote again, and if it turns out that we don't like the large avatars, then we can modify the guidelines and enforce the avatar limit.
Personally, if if the *nods* bother you... then if you have mod access to the topic, I'd delete the posts. They are spam, and are not to be tolerated. (I hope it doesn't come down to this though, its bad ju-ju)
