I hate wine. In fact, I prefer a bottle of beer over hard liquor any day of the week. It just tastes better.

You just have to drink it more, it's like the first time I drank beer, it tasted like urine.

Blasphemy! Beer is god's gift to man!
And I have tried wine on several occasions, but every I do it just confirms my opinions. It just doesn't do it for me.

Rule of thumb: don't drink beer you can see through, more than likely, they made it just like you do when going to the bathroom.
Dark Beer, Stout, and Ale only

Wine > Beer > Hard Liquor
Now that list is just for taste though. I love wine, but I love beer almost equally as much. I hate american beer though. It is the worst stuff, tastes like water with a hint of bad beer.

American beer is garbage. German beer is the shit.
I wish I could buy beer from Ecuador without having to travel 1 hour in the subway to do so.

Is that where you are originally from, and what is the name of the beer. Might have to try and find it and try it. I love new beer.

Nazgul: Does mouthwash count? You don't have to swallow for the effects to set in, so that also includes rubbing alcohol.

We can use alcohol for those kind of things.

well since muslims can't drink.. i'll just take up their slack... and psi is right... a nice murphy's extra stout is the way to go... for someone from virginia... he seems scottish in his beer tastes

My family lineage is of the Wallace clan, I posted about my father somewhere in the forums here.

Besides, Virginia is "Old Dominion" hell, we are a Commonwealth, not a state that has it's history with the 'ol Virginia Company that from report had access to some of the finest spirits and dark ale money could buy. If I'm gonna drink, it isn't gonna be crap. Greygoose Vodka, Drambuie, Harp Ale, Guinness or Abbot Ale for me.
Since alcohol can be absorbed by the skin, if you bath yourself in rubbing alcohol you get the same effect without drinking. However, Nazgûl point is that it isn't the alcohol (or it's other uses) that is the problem, it is the act of getting inebriated that is a problem.
At my Uni, in the bio labs we have some strong Alcohol we use to scrub down the tables when are finished with them. If you get a fresh batch straight from fed-ex... just dunk your hand in it for a few seconds and you'll feel it.

hmmm, since when couldn't you get everclear? 151 is pretty rough going... tastes kind of like gasoline. I just finished a small bottle of Absinthe from that a friend got for me when in Ireland. The taste is pretty bad, but the effects are nice. Best beer that I've had is probably New Castle Ale. It's true darker is usually better.

I dislike drunks and so I don't ever want to be wasted.
But good wine, good liquers (Baleys, Umeshu, and Chineze Appricot Liquer), and good cactails are great!
I haven't aquired a taste for beer though. To me it just tastes bitter.

Well, once you get past the point 'to get wasted' then having a beer or something else becomes enjoyable. The objective is to have fun, but to not let the drink you are having be what makes it fun. Drink to the buzz, and leave it alone. Know who your friends are, to me... they are not my friends till I have a drink with them. There is something to be said about people letting their guard down while drinking, if they are really your friends you will laugh and have fun. If they turn out to be assholes, that is good to know too and to try to dissociate from them as quickly as possible.
It isn't that I don't trust people who don't drink, it is that I have a harder time trying to feel them out as friend or foe.

thats true i guess. i usually get a bit more open minded and free if im drinking. Some people get angry, others get sad and so on. and yeah absinthe is green

Pilsener.
And yeah, these days, in a country I cannot yet call my own, I can't get myself to drink until stupidity. I've tried, but I always end up regreting it. Back in my country it was fun to when there was a party or something and it was always the same 4-5 that lasted until the end talking shit for hours. I cannot find that kind of people here. No offence, but americans my age just seem to want to drink just to get drunk like the rest of the people, not to have a good time.
I miss those days.

The best drink in my opinion is homemade booze and Coca-Cola/Pepsi/Sprite mixture.
Raw Koskenkorva comes second after that...
The objective is to have fun, but to not let the drink you are having be what makes it fun
That's true

As far as Christianity is concerned, the bible states, "Drink but don't get drunk." And let us not forget, Jesus' first miracle was turning water to wine.
Now, as for myself, there are at times nothing better on a cool summer day than kicking back with few choice friends and drinking some beer, getting a good buzz going, playing sports/fighting games, and getting to playfully talk trash for the fun of it.
Now, I hate wine. First and only time I drank it I only drank like a single drink, got no buzz whatsoever, and woke up the next day feeling like crap. A fluke perhaps, but it marred my trying of wine from then on. Being not the richest fellow, and living in Oklahoma I tend to go for Bud Ice when I'm going for beer. After about two bottles(has to be in a frosty bottle btw, cans are horrible) the taste really doesn't matter. At some point around 5 or 6 I usually enter happy fun zone. Due to some very unfortunate incidents involving vomiting and such, I've learned to take my time with it. As far as shots go, there's nothing I've found to be better than a half-shot of peach schnopps mixed with a half-shot of crown royal. It goes down smooth, doesn't taste bad at all, and doesn't burn you up inside. Chase it with some schmirnoff ice and you've got a hella good time on your hands.
But yeah, my measure of whether I like a dude or not goes something like this: If I had a few beers with this guy, would he be fun to hang out with, or just be stupid and annoying?
And really though, what the hell would be the point of New Years if not to drink some?

When I turned 21 my parents gave me some chem strips that you dip into your drink to test if it has been drugged. Really makes a girl paranoid for her first time in a bar with those in her purse.
As for my drink of choice... Hard alcohol with juice is always nice. That or a good port.

Hey, my grandmother says we are related to Robert the Bruce, I believe its through the Stewarts.
I dont care for the taste of beer or wine, but I can see getting used to them if I drank them more often. My favorite drink is cold water and scotch.

I have no way to back this up, but, my brother, when he went to visit my father, said that there was this book on our family history, and according to that, I'm related to this line of Dutch knights.

Dutch Knights eh? Well, I have no way to back this up, and it's really just the mad ravings of a wild man, but I'm the direct descendant of William Wallace! No wait...that's not right.
As for drinking, I don't do it that often, but generally when I do, I tend to get totally sloshed.
