I paid to see the Passion in theaters and now have it on DVD. I'm not into religion(well kinda) so as you suspect I brought it for the violence.

From what some of you posted, it's about how you have a dislike towards Christianity, not like it was said directly but indirectly and I think this is a mistake that both Christians and Muslims make. For example, don't write off islam because of what happened to September 11th and don't write off Christians because of the crusades. All you have to do is take a look at both religions, see if what they did coinsides with what they believe and when it's clear that it doesn't, don't generalize the religion because of it. I know this might be somewhat off topic but at the same time, it's on topic because of the general feeling I'm getting from people.

Whenever you look at famous people who take part in the religion, whether it be muslims or christians, don't assume that they represent the faith, it's a very silly thing to do which will only lead to many misunderstandings.

As the band Tool said: "Think for yourself, question authority."
don't forget this one from tool too. "Deaf, blind, dumb and born to follow, what you need is someone strong to use you."

I didn't see The Passion, and I don't think I ever will.

The first week it was out, this old lady just walked up to me while I was outside my local arcade and asked "Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ?"

I said thinking she meant if I believed the religion and not that he was an actual person. "No."

She then said, "You know he died for your sins right?" I have never had any one come up to me and say this before, I thought people were going crazy from the movie.

Other than that, uhhhh, Tool rocks. :D

While I applaud Tool and people like them for their honesty (And a few kick ass tunes) I am wondering when non-comformity comes right around and becomes a type of conformity. I see all these kids dressing in black and shit, cause it's now the cool thing to do to be dark and emo and all against everything. They go in and buy their wardrobe from Hot Topic (Which is owned by THE GAP for all you young "rebels" out there). I want to find every person that has that shirt that says "You laugh because I'm different, I laugh because you're all the same" get them all in a room, with said shirt on, and watch their heads explode. As I laugh at them.

Don't get me wrong, people who actually believe in the idea of non-conformity and having valid reasons for their views on the government, religion, whatever, I can respesct, but when I see those people I don't see any $30 shirt and $50 pants. Hell, I find it rare if the clothes those guys are in totals more than $20 all together.

As for the Passion (aka The Jesus Chainsaw Massacre), didn't see it, don't want to see it that much. I know Jesus was tortured and died, and that is really all I feel I need to know about the matter. And I am a Christian in case anyone cared.

Since when do people care about being or not being conformists? That line of thinking will probably get you killed. It is all about what makes you feel better as person. Some people like the idea that they are not alone in the world, and can leave everything to Jesus. Other people have different beliefs which is great. As I said before in another post, I would hate for the world to be monotonous. A heterogeneous mixture of culture/people/ideas/beliefs is what makes the human race creative and beautiful.

I on the other hand take responsibility for my actions/in-actions. If anything, the only person that is going to die for my sins is me. I've learned to live with myself. I love pondering the hard questions in life.

This whole discussion is making me think of how much Miura based the Vatican in Berserk off of christianity in the real world. He includes alot of the terrible things the church has done, and has the people blindly following thier faith. He does a really good job of showing that side of the church.

As far as I go and Passion, never saw it and never plan on seeing it. Looks like a giant piece of **** that is just a way to stir emotion in people so they send Mel Gibson money. He is rereleasing another version in theaters, all the people who saw the first one will go see that one as well, and buy it on DVD. Its all BS to me, and all the sheep just fall into line to give away thier money.

Yeah, the Vatican in Berserk does resemble christianity remarkably, when arguing about the Vatican in Berserk I usually refer to it as the "Christian Religion" instead of what it is supposed to be. I believe Holy See isn't it??

then you obivously haven't bumped into anyone that seen the matrix. Oh and the vatican does good and bad like everything else in this world that is human. Since most of europe followed christianity of course you will see mainly a bad side since the more you control the more is wrong.

Oh and Vatican is Catholic, don't compare it with the rest of christianity. I'm more of a satanist then christian but that comparision pissed me off.

edit: Maybe I should breath and go to gamefaqs boards to yell at some fool for asking if "Final Fantasy XI: online" is online or not. I'm so going to kill that person.

My bad, you are right, Vatican in Berserk should be considered Catholic.
I am no expert on the christian religion and the sub categories or what not, and I won't pretend to be.

I know this, but at the equivelent time in the real world only the Catholic church existed. It was before the protestant revolution, therefore I am fine clumping it as christianity, but I know that the vatican is mimicing the Catholic church, but it was the only church and therefore only christian religion at the time. Now as far as good and bad, Miura really only takes some of the bad, and for most of the dark ages, most of the things the church did was bad, why do you think they even had a protestant revolution. People were pissed at the church.

I will give the catholic church this though, they were not near as bad as the protestants at torture. The protestant religions that did do inquisitions and such, were much more severe than what the Catholic church did. The Catholic church had a no bleed policy, because if they caused someone to bleed it woudl be wrong, so all thier torture devices were designed to prevent bleeding, but still inflict pain, the protestants did not do this on the other hand.

Interesting....I did not know that.
The Vatican in Berserk obviously did not follow that rule in its torture methods......

So does G4techtv. Or it used to before it fused with Techtv. Brought me to tears but now I don't have to switch channels....I want my damn unscrewed back!

Does a sole TechTv still exist??
I used to watch it all the time, then my cable company decided to screw me over and take it off the air.

No it's only fused with G4 now, the all videogame network. So it's just a Technology channel with lots of videogame coverage. Half the "gamers" are idiots though.
