Yes you should post more. Same to all you lurkers out there, you should post, well as long as it is not noobish. But if you have been lurking a while, I am sure you have figured out what is good and what is bad by now.

Heh, I remember about caktus...we nearly chased him out of the forums. Another example of what not to do: Don't start threads if you're not good with it. Don't make the title of the thread incredibly ambiguous, like 'Berserk is' and leave the blanks open for people to fill.

Heh, he still hangs around a bit. Haven't seen him lately though.

Gaiseric wrote:I dont think a sticky or a FAQ will work. I think most noobs come in and go straight for the newest chapter or start asking questions. I know I never check the FAQ threads, but I dont think anyone called me a noob when I first started posting.

So, I say flame the hell out of them. If they cant take it or learn from their mistake, then good riddance.
sadly its so true. noobs will intensionally not read this so they don't acknowledge the fact that they are noobs. stubborn lil bastards arent they

Hehe, you're right.
I've seen only the regular members post here (so far...)
I saw that even the "I-liked-it-when-Guts-was-raped" thread is still alive..

Terrible...

Of 520 total members on this board, only about 20 people posts. I think these statistic indicates we've done a pretty good job.

It's the sad truth that noobs don't read the stickies or FAQs. Hell, I read them, but I usually skim through it, only slowing down on points that I may actually have a chance of violating. Even with the stickies on mIRC and how to leech and shit, there's always some people asking how it works and runs. Even if this FAQ is generated, a large percentage of noobs won't actually read it, because it's boring and they have a short attention span. I hate to admit it, but this may all be for naught. :?

From what I've seen so far I could think of plenty of reasons for people not wanting to post here ^^.

why yes, because i locked your thread :D

no offense, but because the vast majority of member who actually post went thru 23 pages of a thread similar to that in the old forum, thas why i locked it

That's Dos for ya...straight and direct in his posts. :P

I wouldn't worry about that locked thread RahlX. With the way it derailed in the 2nd page, I knew it wouldn't last for too long. The topic's been discussed a million times anyway, about Guts state of mind, his spirit mentally and physically, and...blah.

But I think some people think they have to sign up to get the torrents and the mIRC stuff. I think that's the main reason people sign up. I don't know... :?

What you said didn't make sense. I gave you my permission for anyone to lock the thread. But how does doing what you did prevent people from wanting to post. It sure isn't preventing me ^^.

Bah! Who cares?! Let's talk about how the noobs should be flamed!

I've checked out the roster, and about 70 of the registered members have at least made 10 posts. I'm not one of the people scarying them off, am I?!

indirect permission, either didn't expect me to actually lock it or was jus saying it to prove a point.

Yes, let's move on. Meanwhile, I'll wait with all the other noobs for the release of EG's Berserk 253.

I'm comfortable with the amount of posters we currently have. Its time consuming enough just to keep up with you guys, heh. I like smaller groups, rather than hundreds of people I can't get to know very well. Besides, more posters increases the chances of noobery. *shrugs*

Personally, I never really feel a need to post. I suppose I'll come out of the shadows and drop a post here and there.

yayyy there we go. dont be shy! we're all friends here, till one of us locks your threads!

Well, I only post when I have something to say. I think that's a good tip for newbies, which is the point here guys. Unfortunately I usually have something to say. :P

As long as it contributes to the conversation somehow. *Shrugs*

Yep, in other words, don't spam. Even if you do, make a side comment that relates to the thread. It works for me. :P

I am comfortable with what we have, but I still like new people, it brings different personalities and people to the table. I also agree with Starnum though about how with teh smaller number of people you get to know them to some extent. That is nice. But it is also nice to see random people having something to input, just as long as it is good and contributes to the conversation, and is a new idea not a old tired one. If you have something new, different and intelligent post, otherwise don't.

Edit: Read Eldo's post after typing this. If you do spam that is a good idea. I do that alot, where I say something off topic but keep something on topic in teh post as well. Sometimes we have side conversations going on.
