I actually enjoy it on the right at the moment. You suckered me in, so don't change it.

I feel like I need to throw in my 2 cents on this one.

Keeping the avatars on the right is ridiculous. I dont think I've ever been in a forum in which it was on the right side.

I feel like I'm in Europe and driving a car on the wrong side of the road or something.

Better get used to it, as it is the default on phpBB3 meaning that as boards upgrade... they too will be on the right hand side.

I think you should randomize it for every post (or thread) just to keep people on their toes.

Well, he said that "right" is the default, maybe it's a little tricky to move it to the other side.

Anyway, instead of being random, why not alternate sides for each post? It wouldn't look bad either.

We'll waiting for psi to find the time to do it. With the recent DOS attacks and so forth, it wasn't a great time to implement such changes.

Also, although poll results show more than 60% of the people voted for the left side, remember this isn't a democracy, nor do the votes outcome mean absolute changes. psi primarily wanted our opinions and he is quite happy with the avatars on the right. He told me that there will be a choice in the user control panel or something to choose between left or right side, to appease those, um, 4 people that voted for the right out of 30.

by default i meant that is how the theme/template was coded. There is no magic switch.

I just updated to phpBB3 rc3, and the default is still on the right hand side.

I'll go ahead and implement the left hand side profile when time permits but it will make updating this theme more difficult in the future. Oh well, such is life.

So, what does everyone think?

I think it looks crap-tastic.

So, if anyone wants to spend some time fiddling with CSS to make it suck less, then by all means send your results my way.

I had a bitch of a time getting things to look decent, which required me to put a min-width of 1024px to make sure it didn't fuck anything up. So now our 800x600 users can't view the forums without scrolling to the right and left.

Next up that annoys the hell out of me is the fact that I can't read the content without looking at the profiles. I'd much rather just read the content and move on, having it on the right allowed me to ignore it till I wanted to look at it considering that it never changed. The important part is the content, not the profile.

That is from someone who reads other forums and has been around for awhile.

So, now you know why.

That's exactly what I said. You read the same profiles again and again because they're at the beginning. My vote is still on the right.

Also, the banner that displays when someone is online is now running in the wrong direction and is mostly hidden behind the avatar.

Edit: And as soon as I post that, I see the banner is now running in the correct direction.
