What's generic about it? They're cool, previously established characters, from an extremely awesome anime. Is it the fact that they’re in bikini’s? Maybe it’s that they’re not striking incredibly dramatic, yet entirely pointless posses, like in most American comics. Is that it? What, do they need to be wearing powered suits, which took millions of dollars to animate with high-tech computer technology, while battling a plethora of undead zombie lord ninjas and ultra cyber alien pirates? The art style and character design is utterly generic, perhaps even bland depending on who you ask, and the bikini idea isn't particularly original either. Berserk, Biomega and even Zetman are far from as stereotypically "anime" as the picture you posted.

This man isn't wearing some exoskeleton and the pose he strikes is far from extreme- he's just a man in a suit with a particularly low-budget mask.
In comparison to the first picture, the image above is relatively generic, as far as real-life goes. Once you enter the realm of japanese animation however, pictures of the type you posted are dime a dozen, while the one above is almost guaranteed to stand out.

Now let's get back to making this the best thread ever.

Saying something is generic isnt nessecarily an insult, they just use a formula that works and that is standard. But yeah, the pics of those chicks were quite generic for anime/manga.

How could you take any of that seriously? Okay, well maybe the picture is generic, but the respective animes "Betterman" and "GaoGaiGar" are very unique, so that's all that matters. Besides the art in GaoGaiGar Final is very nice, even though it's not extremely detailed, like Berserk. Duh, of course I can tell the picture is kind of generic, I'm just fond of the characters. Actually, it's just that "I fucking hate" snide ass, useless, pompous remarks, but oh well, whatever.
