Great job, guys.
And by the way, I told you he was going to use the Dragon Slayer as a lightning rod.

Thank you for the release !
Almost done downloading, going to seed while I read this chapter and then some.

I admit, I didn't think of the lightening rod thing. Though in the real world, being that close to a lightening rod is still enough to kill you. Ironic, I'm listening to Ride the Lightening :O
I did see the apostle allying with Guts coming, as well as Guts refusal. But the rest was good

Finally, a real leap in the progression of the story.
(SPOILERS)
Here I thought this was another generic 'epic' battle but then a short discussion of the B.O.T.H's takes place.
Zodd was a very nice touch.
Perhaps.. Griffith will intercept his 'fathers' death?

Ah, thanks guys..
Although I was a bit disappointed by the deus ex machina ending of that twist, but it was to be expected.. just didn't expect that the emperor and gutts would interact, but that's cool.
And I love gutts attitude, the enemy of my enemy is still my enemy, 'specially a god-durn apostle!
...I'm still waiting though for when gutts gets to meet the king of elves.. I'm hoping for a serious powerup for gutts, alot more insight into the dogma of the world, and hopefully to see caska get healed and do some whoopin' of her own.
although the hawk vs emperor which is up will be cool, it's just monsters vs monsters, but it's always cool to see griffiths lil pet-minotaur go buck-wild.

man how the hell is Guts keepin it together? i mean he does have some down time in this chapter, but damn! he should be should be in a coma by this point. we've heard it remarked time and again for a while now that he can't be human with that type of strength and endurance, even before the armor and the brand. i'm starting to wonder myself.

i'm also looking forward to seeing Caska back to a little more normal. Although, i doubt things will ever be the same between she and Guts again. it's not as if she will have forgotten the past several years. She will likely be someone else almost completely. that's gonna hurt old dude pretty bad. if their relationship changes so drastically, Guts will have nothing but his hatred for Griffith, leaving him also changed. --or-- Caska could snap out of this shit she's in and rededicate her life to taking Griffth's head as well. it'll be interesting to see what goes on. can't wait!

I have a feeling she won't ever snap out of it, but she might regain sanity at least and maybe fall for Guts again. I doubt she'll ever remember her past.
That's the predictable result anyway, which I honestly don't hope happens. Sick of predictability...

Berserk is rarely predictable. Who would’ve know that Ganishka would offer Gatts a position in his army. Although, if Casca does regain her memory, I doubt she’ll leave Gatts. I mean, as said, that would cause him to go into a remission, and just go back to wanting nothing but revenge. I don’t think Miura is the type of guy to let his characters digress, but I guess we’ll find out eventually.

I'm rooting for a rejection by Casca mainly because i don't believe he would "regress" backwards, but progress forwards in his path. and it makes sense that he Ganishka would feel brothership with guts since they are both very similar. I would have LOVED to seen what guts would have said if this happened while he wasn't trying to get casca healed. but honestly, everything that happened seemed pretty on point story wise. you can tell miura knows where this is going lol.
edit. his path being the one i see him taking. if you guys dont know my standpoint yet, its that he is going down a path similar to griffiths but opposing him and at somepoint there is goign to be a climax between them.

Of course Miura knows where the story is going. He's to fucking good not to. However, why the hell would you want Casca to reject Gatts? You're a freak. It's not like Gatts isn't going to go after the God Hand after he gets her to Elfheim. As I've said many times, in order for them to have any semblance of a normal life, the God Hand must be eradicated.
Besides, Gatts loves Casca. If you don’t think having her reject him would send him into a state of depression, then I think you underestimate his feelings. *shrugs*

Excellent work as usual guys and good luck on your exams Eldo!
This city has become quite the battle ground. Its interesting that Griffiths great offensive was lead by Gutts and a young witch. I Wonder there is potential that their exploits could spread to the population and be a sign of hope beyond Griffith. If a former hawk general took away some of Griffiths glory could there be repercussions? Just a thought. This may be the first great battle where the Emperors army is pushed back but its far from being the end of the war, and there is plenty of opportunity for the captain of the Raiders to earn more glory whether he wants it or not.

So much swearing...
I don't think Buzkashi is old enough to read this chapter.
Starnum wrote:Who would’ve know that Ganishka would offer Gatts a position in his army.
It was slightly unexpected, but it's nothing we haven't seen a million times before.
Seeing Zodd filled me with joy but a few panels later that turned into indifference. Here's Zodd and he's cool and breaking heads as usual, but now what?
I hope this is all going somewhere, or I'm going to start bitching about Berserk again.
What I hope happens in the next few chapters: An all-out war between The Apostle army and Ganishka's or something similar (it's been long overdue after so many chapters of nothing/build-up).
What will probably happen: Nothing (i.e. Ganishka runs away).

I launched the executive decision that Guts should swear like a sailor or like the brute he is, and that 'piss' or 'pissant' be included in there. I was thinking, 'what would Garth Ennis write?'
It seems they are all playing into Griffith's hands right now. Griffith is now 'rescuing' the town from those evil Kushans. What a hero.

I kind of have hopes of seeing Ganishka kick some major ass. Not because I like the guy, but because we need some more visual confirmation of why this guy might be even close to a threat to Griffith. I want to see him back up his claim of frying countless apostles to a crisp with his lightning.
And then I'm wondering if Zodd will actually see Guts before they manage to slip away. I doubt Zodd will pass up a chance to once again engage in battle with Guts if he knew he was there, unless maybe Ganishka got in the way (i.e. throwing lightning bolts everywhere from up high)

How do you fight a badass cloud like that anyway?
Posted: Sun Jun 11, 2006 11:22 am
by elric le tueur d'amis
as an apostle,he is still mortal and must keep an human body part hidden somewhere, the cloud thing is only an avatar,a magic illusion to inspire fear and seem more powerful(Ganishka powers are the same as Zeus, who used a lot his charisma to keep his domination on the minor gods).
I think that if Ganishka is better than the average apostles it is because he adds some artificial energy to his innate gifts(energy given by the great kushans sorcerers and the "apostles power plants"),if Griffiths destroys those helpers,Ganishka will be a small fry for him.

I enjoyed the talk between the Emperor and guts...
Show how much guts have recovered from his spiritual injuries.
raider wrote:Thank for the translation. Amazing Band of the Hawk Airforce.

I don't think they are a match to this monstruous apostel...
But at least they are a good opportunity for gut's team to escape...
In short, A GREAT TWIST OF STORY !!!

great Chapter
I don't see Guts fighting Zodd next chapter because he would get raped in his condition.
I do wonder who will mention Guts was a former Hawk first, Zodd or Caska in Elfheim.
and I want to see Farnese realize that Caska is so much stronger than her.
I want to see the lead apostles from the Neo Band of the Hawk all go after the Emperor.

I was very surprised that the Hawks would come to the rescue in their Apostle form. I mean, to me that would seem to make it a lot harder for the surviving populace to see them as saviors. While on the one hand, they did save what's left of the city, on the other hand they're fricking monsters. Not really what you look for in a "savior". I do think it's highly ironic that Guts and Co. took down the only parts of the Kushan army (except the king) that could be any sort of threat to Apostles. Those whalephants seemed like they could fight at least the weaker Apostles, and the head mage was very impressive with his Kundali creature, but they've all been destroyed, (the mage is alive, but he's a small fry now) so all that's left is the Emperor. Still, seeing him and the other Apostles fight will be interesting, since current indications seem to be that he is the strongest Apostle of all. It'll also be nice if he takes out some of Griffiths Apostles, since that army of Griffiths really needs to start being reduced if Guts is ever going to have any chance of gaining his vengence.
