I played Manhunt and that was the most garbage game ever. I look to this great comic strip from Penny Arcade: http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?d ... 2-01&res=l

Hehe. Nice comic MrJotaan.

Freedom Force was another great underrated game. I'm looking forward to the sequel that is going to be released soon.

relax, we weren't going in depth about the game, so I opted to use a casual well known phrase (mobile suit) since this is a well known term(s) and that basically describes what it actually is. sleek looking mobile suit like bot = orbital frame

Malvado: too bad, Stabbing Westward was underrated on a different note.

I am relaxed...I was just making sure you knew that. Most people don't you see. I hear people say mobile suit all the time, but they don't realize that's a Gundam exclusive term. *Shrugs*

Another underrated game was Bad Mojo. Most of you probably never heard of it, but it's a game where you are transformed into a cockroach and run around amok in gritty places like sewers and pipes! Not for the faint of heart, there's some fish that leaps out of the water and giant spiders that may scare the hell out of ya....

Oh, and let's not forget Shadowrun.

I was thinking about this game the other day. Definitely a lot of fun. Always nice to play a 2d platformer every now and then (yes, it was 3d but it played like a 2d game)

Suikoden is my favorite series. While 4 is by no means a bad game, it's most likely the weakest of the series so far. It doesn't help that a lot of the fan service was lost by making it a prequel set so far apart from the the rest. I want my returning characters. :( And at least one member of the Howling Voice Guild.

I remember when I first saw Valkyrie Profile mentioned in a magazine. It looked and sounded incredible...But no hype meant I forgot about it. Then I found the intro on the internet. Couldn't find the game in stores and forgot about it. It took me too many years to finally look for a copy and buy it. Definitely a game worth the wait.

Here's another good one: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Fairly fun, but I could not find another soul to play this with.

Seeing as how some games mentioned received excellent ratings but went largely unnoticed by the general public, perhaps the thread title should be changed to "Underappreciated games" ?

I gotta go with Rez. It didnt have amazing graphics, but the gameplay, style, and music were great. Very unique and fun game.

I'd say Rez as well. The perfect blend of music and imagery yet in a video game.

And The Zone of the Enders is NOT underrated, the game just isn't that good. The music and graphics are awesome, and the controls are tight, but for the most part it just isn't fun. The boss fights are just horrible. It's not that the game completely sucks (some parts are really entertaining), but it's not really underrated. At least the second one isn't, I haven't played the first one.

You should check out Z.O.E.: Fist of Mars, for the GBA. It's an awesome tactical RPG. Really great story.

Hey, no big deal. I'm going to try to stop correcting people so much. They tend to take it the wrong way. I can understand why, but my intentions are never to be condescending or anything. I guess it's just me...or hard to understand in text or something. Anyway, it's all good. ;)

I had both of those games. I beat Berserk a while ago but it doesnt work anymore and my Rez game just stopped working after the 4 or 5th level.

Rez is indeed a sweet under rated game. I also think that Albert Odyssey for the Saturn and Vagrant Story for the PSone are under rated and are very, very good. :)

The top 5 most underrated games for me are:

1. Guardian Heroes (Saturn) - Sega (best beat'em up game of all time...look at how much it sells for on Ebay!)

2. Valkyrie Profile (PS) - Square Enix

3. Omega Boost (PS) - Polyphony (Gran Turismo guys...Best rail mecha game EVER!!!)

4. Guilty Gear (PS) - Arc System Works

5. Ikaruga (GC, DC) - Treasure[/b]

I agree with Guardian Heroes, as that game does indeed own. However, I don't think Guilty Gear is underrated. Valkyrie Profile is a good game but I would not call it number 2 on this kind of list. And I can't say I am fond of Omega Boost.

Valkyrie Profile is not overrated, it gets extremely repetitive after a while.
