I think Miura did that for foreshadowing so when you first see it during the first manga you can see the connection with Guts.MrFelony wrote:anyone notice that the deformed guts and casca baby only had one eye too? same eye as guts too. also i love the effect guts cape has, as if it is darkness itself
Just my thoughts on it.
All this talk about foreshadowing, perety resently i was rewatching the anime and i suddenly noticed that in that dream Gutts has in which hes being chased by that thing he cant cut that includes that bastard i hate, Gambino, at the end, the monster which was all black and didnt look like a spesific thing (in the anime only) just before Gutts wakes, the face of that monster turns into the face of that cannible snake like monster in the first episode. If u rewatch that part ull notice it. So guts, was having a dream of the future. However im not shure if this also happend in the manga. tell me what u think.

I think the nightmare where Guts sees Gambino with his dog looking with the face of Gambinos wife and Gambino is taking his head up and down where Guts cut it.
*edit: Watched that Episode again. Seems like I was wrong. *Looks for the right episode* But you can see the Snake Lord at the end of episode 21 confession when the griffiths behelit swims in the lake*

Yeah, i was talking about the Snake Lord, the monster at first looks like Zodd, but for a split second his face changes to the Snake lord. In the manga though the thing chasing him i think was a nightmare version of the Black guy that raped him.
Oh and sorry I'll do spell check from now on.

Right, the Snake Baron does appear as a brief reminder, which kind of connects to the first episode, later on in the anime. In the manga, the dream that’s being referred to, it is Donavon that’s holding him down at first, but in the anime that never happened, so it’s Zodd. However, I’m sure that in both cases of anime and manga, the face turns to that of an evil Gatts. It’s like a mind trip that he has, because he’d just killed the boy Adonis. It was like his mind was putting him in the other role, and it kind of tripped him out. I don’t think it was the Snake Baron in either case though. It was like, Gatts looked at his hand again, which was Zodd’s. Then he was kind of like; whoa it’s me. I think it steamed from the fact that he felt guilty for killing the kid. Take another look at it and see if you get what I mean. *shrugs*

I agree with Starnum on this one. I am pretty sure it was Guts own face he saw. I think it mainly had to do with him killing the boy Adonis. Before that whole seen he saw Adonis as a young version of himself. He sees him getting pushed way beyond what any boy could by his father(for guts his father figure) and that reminded him alot of his own childhood. Now when he accidentally kills him, it brings back even more memories, since it was almost like killing himself. That hit him harder than the manga or anime really let on, I am pretty sure that entire dream/nightmare stems from that child alone, and the killing of him, its not that he killed a child, but that he killed someone who was just like him.
I checked episode ten, oops I had the two dreams mixed together. I never notice he was Zodd in the second dream before. Now it makes more sense. He felt he was just like that little kid he killed. Man that episode really made me feel sorry for Gutts. I never used to like him before that episode.

But I don't get why you would watch an anime if you don't like the main character. In other anime it's okay, 'cause there are often more then one main characters. But in Berserk it's all based on what happens to Guts.

In case you didn't realize, the baby is Guts' not Griffiths. So that would not be a valid excuse.isse-pisse-päron-pung wrote:Afaik men can't give birth. Thus he had to unwillingly screw casca even though he wanted gattsu so much
Now I personally always loved Griffith. I don't like him as much now. I liked him alot at the beginning because I love great military leaders, so at the beginning it was cool to see him do all that stuff. But now I think he is just weak, since he had to sacrifice everyone to get his dream complete. Guts woudl never do that, he woudl fight all odds to achieve his goals, without sacrificing what he cares for. That is true strength.
Also Guts is one of the best characters in any story out there. He was pretty 2D at the beginning, but now he has really developed. After volume 4 you really start to feel for him, and understand why he is the way he is. You really see him grow and change. You watch him from his birth to where he is today. You see him go through all parts of his life. Its not common to see this much of someone in a story, and to still make the characters development realistic and believable.
