The HK version was much, much better. I didn't think that Scorsese's direction in the movie was deserving of the oscar. If it was some other film besides Infernal Affairs, he wouldn't have gotten shit.
300 still hasn't come out yet. Fuck. I hate this shit.
Also how many action scenes were there in IA one or two?
I knew it would never be near as good but i have to see it on rental just to have the proof.
Tony Leung is way better than those in this movie thats for sure.
About the director oscar every expert were joking about how he got the oscar for his worst of all those that have won oscars.
You know whats funny that the week after the oscars, we read Leo is gonna make another asian remake, i wonder why

Nope, it's HK. Andy Lau and Tony Leung are big names in Asian as well as Hong Kong.
There were few action scenes in Infernal Affairs, and not many of them was needed, since the atmosphere of the movie was so damned gripping. There were like, 3 actions scenes.
Scorsese is incredibly overrated. For Gangs of New York and Aviator, I never watched the movies right to the end. Because it was so fucking boring. It lacked any style, any climaxes, any atmosphere.

Im actually are reading the book series right now which is much more complex but i wanna see this movie only cause Matt Damon really captured Jason Bourne perfectly.
Apparently he was the only one that read the books.
The first two films was like they took 1% of the stories and made up action scenes.

Saw 300, in short awesome asskickery
The negative parts that people mentionned (the annoying and incorrect harping of freedom, justice and the american way...I mean spartan) didnt bother me at all, or the general experience. Which was rather gratifying.

And you also see that he doesn't shout all the time.

No he didnt. He was basically the only one truly great in his performance in the movie (perfect casting). The rest ranged from so and so to poor acting wise (the queen sucks an ephor's cock).

I'll be amazed if anything can steal my vote for movie of the year (2007) from 300, cuz it was the shit.
Grindhouse maybe, but I seriously doubt it.

I recently watched 300.
Yes, I thought the Queen part of the movie was bullshit. I thought some of the monsters were bullshit. What the hell was the purpose of the fat guy with knives for his hands? He was there to behead the guy. Funnily enough, although the chop was in a downward action, the guy's head flew up in the air. My friend commented on that, and I told him 'didn't you know? When the head leaves the body, there is a moment where it can defy gravity'.
While I did enjoy the movie (not as much as I hoped), I do not want this director (Zack Snyder) to touch Watchmen.

No one would could possible ever want Snyder to do anything but eye-candy type of shallow action with slick cuts and stylish shots. Basically a Michael Bay type. He had ALOT of room to do somewhat well with the story and dialogue in this movie, but he made it unnecessary retarded. This movies credit should go the the technical geeks who made it look that sweet, and the art direction fellas. Other then that, there is anything of note Snyder should be commended for.
He isn't even that good in making the drama parts in an action movie (which much arent expected in at all) even a little plausible and not cringeworthy...how the heck is this guy going to do something as complex and ambitious like watchmen?

Nooo >.< don't compare Snyder and Bay. I feel like Snyder is a satisfying new director. I didn't feel like the queen's part was all bad. The acting was allright and in that kind of story about people fighting against an oppressor, you're bound to hear about freedom. I think people always react bad when the word Freedom is pronounced in a movie. It's as if the word itself has lost it's meaning to become an american cliché. I don't feel like the part ruined the movie.

I blame FFVIII's Lionheart move. Oh and Eldo, you have to hand over your dick. You aren't a man anymore.

And just like the US the Spartans had slaves. So freedom isn't a word they should throw around.

Yeah, I have to agree that Snyder isn't the best director. I don't like the fact that he added the stuff with the Queen, but it didn't bother me too bad. The honor really does go to all the special effects guys, for making the movie look and feel so much like the comic.
Well, I watched Grindhouse tonight, and of course it was pretty freakin awesome. Planet Terror was the shit, I actually liked it more than Tarantino's film, Death Proof. Planet Terror has got to be up for goriest movie ever. If it's not, then it's damn close, heh. Good shit though, go check it out. Speaking of Tarantino, is it just me, or does anyone else think that Psi kind of favors him a bit? Heh, as for me, I've been around, here and there, with a bit of lurking. Plus, I have access to all the new games that come out, when we get them in my store. So yeah, free movie and game rentals been taking up a lot of time too, heh.

They shouldn't but they do. And as far as I'm concerned, I'm thinking politics tend to be like that.

The thing is, the Spartans were pretty direct and unshameful in their point of view. Not posterity for the sake of it like in this film. They were were proud of their way of life and didnt talk about justice, freedom for all and logic over perisan barbarism like in this movie. Thats hogwash.
Even if they exaggerate like all do, their boasting would be more about killing the invaders, not preaching alot of unspartan hogwash like in this movie. They were talking like they were Athenians in this movie. Athenians is the total opposite of Spartans and their natural city state enemies.
That they way they did Spartans in this movie is 1% accurate was expected, but that they also made them bearers of democracy, equality and justice is total bull. They would mock the persian invaders for alot of things. But they still viewed themselves just as defenders who were rightfully defending themselves against invaders (just as the persians have when the Greeks have invaded them...because yes its bit back and forth invasions in that time period).
They wouldnt talk like they were Athenians, knowing how proud zealots Spartans were, their pride wouldnt even let them think in those ways, nevertheless even utter those words.

Yeah but when I heard the queen talk about their freedom, I was not thinking about equality and human rights, I think the speech was about the freedom to continue living their own way, and staying powerful and keeping their pride. That fits with the spartans no ?
I just dont think it ruined all the other good element of the movie... the stylish graphics, the mood, the fights, the music.... The script was fun too.
I'm not trying to defend the movie because I loved it or anything. I enjoyed the ride even though it didn't live up to my expectations. I'd give it a 8/10 anyway. It's well worth seeing and an enjoyable ride.

Oh dont get me wrong, I loved the movie (for what it was), I dont think I will watch another of this kind of experience that will top this in a long while. Just think those parts I mentionned was unnecessary stupid ( in overall, the completely disregarded how the spartans were and just made the badass warrior part, no hints of their mentality and way of life..which is what makes them Spartans).
And it wasnt only the queens speech, which was retardedly delivered by the actress (but I like everyone else cheered when she stabbed Theron). But also Dilios final speech in the movie, the ending speech...the actor is kickass in delivering it...but the content is all of this I mentionned. He talks about justice and freedom for all humans, and that we should stop the persian barbars due to that. Basically talking exactly like a athenian politician.
They kept mentionning it throughout the movie, hampering on it, made it clear they dont simply mean stopping the invaders. Really unecessary Hollywood bullshit.

I still didn't like the speech. I was thinking, well, this was a pretty shit speech, her accent sometimes got through, it's a pretty shit addition to the graphic novel. And yes, people applauded when she stabbed that guy. WTF? I hate people who applaud in theatres.
And that guy carried Persian currency around with him. That's not really that smart, is it? For a guy who spins the council to his control, he carries Persian money with him where he might be likely discovered. But the council was some dumb shits anyway. That was just a convenient plot device.

Yes, for a Greek, Dilios looked Irish. He's a good actor though, too bad he never got any great exposure or anything.
