vol 1 is good but the current series is the shits.
just some lame soap opera drama after another.

it reminds of 'young avengers'...
Man i hope not i planned to read it cause i hear so much about it.

Any other comic you have tried and like that you wish to share.

Powers and Wanted.
both are good and comparable to your favourites 'walking dead' and 'invincible' in that they are twists on mainstream superhero stories.
the x-men's 'age of apocalyse' storyline is very good too.

i am gonna get round to reading 'v for vendetta' now that i have seen the movie and like it. 'preacher' and 'road to perdition' are also on my 'going to read soon' list.
=)

Scary SCARY!!!

One minute before i checked this thread for your reply, i download Powers and Wanted. Thats crazy.

Preacher i have read up to issue 6 and gonna buy the rest in vols likewise with V for Vendetta.

You cant read classics on the comp, thats worse crime than robbing a bank ;)

By the way im gonna see the movie V for Vendetta in the weekend. It looks actionpacked, Alan Moore isnt known for that so i expected V for Vendetta to more like Sandman,Preacher style.

Same here.

Don't read anything over that. It becomes a load of crap later on.

I was a big Spawn fan back in the day.

The early issues was awesome.

Now its just garbage.

I made the horrible mistake of buying a new Spawn vol last year, man did it suck more than i thought it was possible.

I cant believe how Macfarlane can so stupid that he would give his only famous comic to writers and artist that woulndt get jobs in other places.

do you mean about the runaways 2nd vol?
the 1st vol had a plot and the characters are moving in the direction of the plot.

but the current vol is just characters with looking for a plot(ie. no plot). the characters are just running around acting busy.

if you are gona buy the 2nd vol, i suggest reading the 1st 5 issues online 1st then decide.

spawn had the cool factor. but after seeing the movie, i didnt want to read the comic anymore.

Yeah i talked about vol 2 of Runaways.

Isnt it a Bendis comic? If so im starting to hate the guy after reading the recent issues of Ultimate Spiderman,New Avengers. He is ruining great characters with his so many issues with something that looks like a plot.

Now i finaly understand why he has such a bad rep.

Thank god Brubaker took over Daredevil.

nah, runaways was never written by bendis.

but i admit that bendis' titles are going downhill nowadays.
i think he has been taking on too many assignments and spreading his creativity too thinly.

I havent seen anything that resembles creativity, i dont think he has any.

He lived by for awhile on the characters fame like Spiderman in Ultimate,X-men i Ultimate and now New Avengers.

I cant believe how Marvel can give so much power to write many major comics.

i think bendis impressed marvel a lot with his earlier works 'powers' and 'alias'(NOT related to the TV show).

i admit that powers is good. i have not read alias at all.

he is taking on too many projects now it has backfired on his success.

I have Powers it must be pretty damn good if it gave him his current position in Marvel. Alias is pretty famous too among fans.

I cant imagine those two being something awesome after reading his current work, hope im wrong.

After seeing V for Vendetta (Which was awesome) I decided to pick up the paperback collection, as well as Watchmen. It was an Alan Moore day for me, let me tell you. I strongly considered picking up The Ultimates or working on finishing my Sin City collection, but money is getting a bit tight for me.

The Ultimates > Sin City (except for That Yellow Bastard)

That's the only thing I don't like about it actually.

I've always hated pop culture references and they'll make the Ultimates lose the timelessness it could've achieved without them.

I'm absolutely loving the latest Punisher series, printed in MAX.

It's great seeing Nick Fury be a bad ass in this. 'Meanwhile, I'll try to fuck every prostitute in New York'. Brings a tear in my eye.

you are right that the associations with current artistes and events makes the comic lose its timeless appeal.
on the other hand, that "in the now"ness of the plot has its own appeal as well.

Thats why Gart Ennis surpassed Frank Miller as my fav writer.

First i read Hitman awesome,Preacher even better and Punisher v3,v4 and v5 are crazy good.

I have read the first Fury mini in Max that was awesome, i like Ennis's Fury more than 616 who seems like a wuss compared to this Fury.

Have you read Born? Punisher mini about his origin?

Lucky for me the store has Punisher v5 in TBPs, i have read two vols containing issues 1-12. In The Begining and Kitchen Irish.

Cant wait until i catch to up to it.

Frank Miller can't write a comic to save his life.

The Dark Knight Returns and the first 3 or 4 volumes of Sin City.

That's all there is.

What a great resume.

The Dark Knight Returns was the best batman comics I've ever read. I can't believe people complained that it was too dark and wanted old style batman back.

*shakes head*

I read it and I was slightly underwhelmed.

It didn't live up to the hype basically, but it was released in different times and I understand and acknowledge how influencial it was in the industry.

It was good, but it doesn't hold a candle to stuff like Watchmen or Sandman.

Frank Miller is a one trick pony, he can't write characters that aren't bitter and angry.

He did some visually cool stuff with Sin City, but that's about it.

His new Batman comic sucks as do most of the things he writes these days.
