Ikaruga video was pretty sweet, I am not that great at the game so I don't think I will be posting any thing sweet any time soon for the game. I am still having trouble with formats and what not right now.
Any who, I got a chance to play Raiden III the other day and I have to say that it was sweet. Will have to pick that one up sometime. Oh yeah, and it is REALLY hard. But not as hard as this Undeadline shooter for the Mega Drive I played the other day.

Raiden II. Raiden is the first shooter I ever played I think. That or 19XX. My favorite shooter period though has to be....I don't know...
Old school shooters that I loved have to be Axelay and Last Resort.
I'm not the Raiden fan though >.>
The coolest crap shooter I ever played has to be Sol Divide. It was a bad game, but I enjoyed the concept.

I hear ya man. I played Sol Divide and thought it just plain blew. But as ya do.
If you thought Sol Divide had a cool concept, then you should try and play Lords of Thunder some time. That game is kinda sorta like Sol Divide in a way but is about 1000 times better. Old school shooting bliss right there.

I'm getting my copy of Psikyo Shooters Vol. 3 tomorrow hopefully.
It contains Sol Divide and Dragon Blaze. I finally get to play the real version of Sol Divide. Maybe it won't be the emulated crap that I played.

Whoa, just noticed this post.
Any who, Sol Divide emulated or not is still crap, but if you like Sol Divide, I guess this will be a nice version for ya.
Dragon Blaze on there however is one of the best shooters I have ever played and most definitely the best Psikyo shooter ever made IMO of course. My friend has that collection and I must say the ports are damn near flawless and sure beats playing it emulated. I still need to get money together for a japanese PS2 some time. The way things are right now, I will not be able to buy games for a while in general, so as ya do.
Not able to buy games, man, I thought I would never say that. Oh, dark times are here indeed.

Terada Katsuya is one of my favorite artists and he did the character design of the game. That's why I like it ^^.
Dragon Blaze is awesome though. Played it for a bit today.

Aight, I am taking a shot at a revive here. Most will probably just ignore this, but I wanted to post something god damn it.
Battle Garegga Strategy Guide
Battle Garegga is one of the greatest shmups of all time. But it is a rather controversial game due to its unique rank system. I recomend anyone at all curious of the shmup genre to check this game out. The Saturn version goes for some big cash so there is always MAME which plays it well, but you have to switch the region to Nippon through the Dip switches in order to get true default settings. I kinda wanted to show how crazy the rank system actually is in this game. And sure enough found this information filled guide at the Shmup forums. This is one of the most technical and difficult shmups I have ever played, and I hope that this sparks some interest in the game among some of the few shmup players here.
Oh yeah, I also had some shmup news.
Ibara is being ported to the PS2. Huzzah.

Are you a real big fan of shooters in which you are a guy instead of a ship Darken? Your taste seem to reflect it.

I don't think so >.>. I haven't really played border down yet... But I'm having more fun playing Homura than playing Chaos Field.

Chaos Field is kinda funky. And it really is nothing too special once you dig into it. But it is still a pretty cool game with its unique system. I have only played the DC version, so I never fully figured out how to score real well or anything.

what I don't get is how some shooters have something stupid like a baby or a toy monkey as the final bosses....are they just jokes they put into the game, thinking that arcade players couldn't make it that far?

Played Gunbird 2 as of late or something?
There are few shooters that are not cute em ups that have this wierd final boss thing going on. Tons of Cute em ups with that kind of stuff though.
Ever play Sexy Parodius? Best Cute em up, evar.

By any chance is Sexy Pardious the game that parodies Gradius with the penguins and Octupi???
I'm sure i can't be the only fool who is waiting for a sequel to Einhander.

All the Parodious games have octupi and penguins in it I am pretty sure.
As for a sequel to Einhander, that would be sweet, but it is not going to happen.

In that case i did play a Pardious game not sure which one it was since it was all in japanese all i remember is Penguins, Octopi, Viv Viper n that ship from Twni Bee. Great game from what little i played of it.........I'll continue waiting for a sequel to Einhander heck PE n Mushashi got sequels and those are the last two games that need one.

I don't think Einhander sold enough to merrit a sequel. I also think some of the people that worked on Einhander may not be there any more. Not too sure. It is unlikely, that is what I am getting at so don't get your hopes up or "wait for it."
As for Parodious, once again I am pretty sure every parodious has had Vic Viper and Twin Bee as playable characters.

I might try to mod my PS2 in a few weeks.
It really feels like I'm missing out on some shooter and fighting action without imports and the actual PCBs are way out of my price range.
What shooters would you recommend for the PS2?
I'm looking at ESPgaluda at the moment.

There are a lot of shooter gems on Jap PS2.
The ones that I think are the best after playing them are...
Dodonpachi-doyojou, not sure if that is how you spell it, but this is probably the best shooter on the PS2. Also the most expensive.
Dragon Blaze, I am a huge fan of this game and the port is really good. It is cheap as hell to compared to Dodon but is paired with a shit game known as Sol Divide. (Sorry Darken...

)
Ibara is not out yet, but you got to be excited for the most Raizing style game to come out since Raizing went under. (I love Raizing.)
ESP Galuda is a solid choice, but I would prefer Mushihimesama. Mushi is much more old school, while ESP uses the Kakusei mode I believe it is called to slow down bullets and score higher. I could never get into it but my friend swears by it.
Last but not least, the one shooter you should stay far away from is Giga Wing Generations. The port is terrible with horrible slow down, and I do mean horrible. The frame rate never gets to a full 60, it is really bad. And the explosions make my eyes bleed. Plus it is not that fun compared to Giga Wing 2.

I've seen vids of ESPgaluda and it seems like the more bullets are on screen when you slow down time and destroy the enemy that sends them, the higher your score. Then again, you probably knew that already.
The bullet patterns in the game look pretty awesome, but I thought that the fact that they're kids with wings instead of airships was pretty stupid.
If you can hook me up with a site that has some decent Cave videos, I'd really appreciate it.
It seems like they're impossible to find.

There are some ESPgaluda videos in the Cave site, but the quality is terrible.
BTW, Ikaruga.co.uk is hands down the best source for Ikaruga videos online.
Tons of stuff there.
