But when is that pikeman (Ohh Im so bad at remembering his name) gon na reappear again and join the party?
I think hes gonna be a real asset further down the road :)

You are thinking of Azan.

Or it could be his twin brother, Bazan, which was a theory discussed a little while ago somewhere in this forum. I put together a composite sketch of what I think Bazan would look like:

:kekeke:
Azan, thats right. And I think his twin brother would skip the whole beard idea so you could tell them apart. Come to think off it, we dont even know if Azan might party up with Griffith if he dont catch Guts and his party now when theyre leaving the City

I dont think Azan would party up with Griffith once he saw that he was in command of the evil soldiers.

Probably not, but then again once hes tagged along Griffith and sees this it might be to late.

Or he'll see just the greatest warriors, like Grumbeld, Locustus, and the archer guy (forgot his name). They're impressive, and (not at first glance) evil :)

Not that I think he'll join Griffith anyway...

We know that. :P It's about griffith taking his body and he's only a bodyless soul now. After all that kid had a body, an ugly one. What happened to him and is his body not this ugly anymore, I don't know.

When Caska gave birth to "it" SK said that it chose to be evil, then when griffith took its body it probably choosed to be good.

Why not use PDF?

Hi all!
First of all I want to thank you all for doing such a great job in translating the Berserk serie! YOU GUYS ROCK!!! :D

I was wondering though, since many people have difficulties in reading small-size text, why not make the image-files into one PDF-file? As you all know, PDF keeps the fonts in vector format. This way you can magnify the text as much as you like without any quality loss :)

Thanks again for the GREAT work y'all!

Peace~

ROO, that would need some converting, and what we call "tracing" of the pictures. Wouldn't work.

And Necro...maybe when Griffith reborned (sp??) he took the evil part of the child. Who knows...

I still think Griffith and the child were two completely different "persons" inside the egg.

And if he looks normal now, maybe is just because he's not so twisted anymore.

That will be a huge problem later on that Griffiths new body used Guts & Cascas son as a vessel I believe.
It might end up being a bigger problem for Griffith then for Guts and Co. After all, if Griffith is right and the feelings he still has for Guts are caused by the child, those feelings could end up being highly problematic for him (Of course, he might just be in denial and their really all his feelings, since he didn't seem to feel anything for Caska).

If we all know how adobe stores text, then why do you have to explain it to us? :P

This has been discussed in the past, but... I don't believe anyone here has Adobe Acrobat Writer , which costs a pretty penny. The idea was to get the raws, edit them then import into PDF. We would then overlay the text into the bubbles and pray that adobe did it's job to scale with the image when zoomed in. When I worked in IT a few years back in a PDF 2 Fax project involving Hylafax software and Adobe Writer, we had issues with font not staying consistant with our image we where using. Could have been a glitch. *shrugs*

Second, not everyone has adobe acrobat nor cares to install yet another piece of software just to read the content. Most people are content with JPEG or PNG and can open them via Microsoft's Fax/Image viewer, and rotate through the release.

I personally have no problem zooming in to read the small text, typically a wise-crack by Puck.

I don't mean to poo-poo your suggestion but at this point, we are going to stick to individual images.

adobe reader also takes a long time to open, and it is pretty laggy. especially for ppl that dont have really good pentium4s. i have a 2.2 and it is still pretty slow

2.2? Wow that must suck sometimes.

celeron 2gHz/1GB RAM and no problems so far.

By the way I'd also like pdf's instead of jpg/png since it's much easier to organize on your hdd. I mean aprox. 30 volumes à 200 pages berserk are 6000 jpg/png and that is about 5970 more than neccesary...acrobat reader is also free and if there is someone out there with an apple computer he can make pdf out of box. if someone send me a volume raw with clean bubbles and a translation I could try too, but my time is limited...

Volumes are one thing, chapters are another. If anything, I think we should continue doing what we are doing on the chapter front. Volumes could stand to be ported to PDF, but alas I don't think EG does volume releases. That typically has been the realm of the Hawks.

Who knows. The status quo for the time being will be upheld untill I hear different. Just so you guys know, I'm not he decision maker on this stuff. Those who are, read what goes on. So please, voice your concerns in the help & suggestion area and lets get this thread back on track.

I don't think we will make any files to pdf, that would take more effort. None of the other groups uses pdf either, and I don't think we'll going to make ourselves the exception. I use ACDSEE and it works fine for me, and I don't think the text is too small that I can barely read it.

If you do want to convert it to pdf and distro it, make sure you ask permission first. I'm not quite sure about the compression sizes or anything, but I generally stick with jpegs and pngs. pdf doesn't work for me.

Same here, ACDSee for the win. And I don't think PDF would be good for manga releases. I read e-books etc. in PDF format but it's better for pure text reading than for mangas which fully content of pictures. I would hate to read all the pictures in PDF. It's really nice to browse them in ACDSee in fullscreen mode.

PDF is the bane of my existence. It is big, slow, and utterly pointless for anything other than having a fancy way of preparing documents for printing.

If I wanted to slowly browse through a few pages of text, I'd do so, and not sit down and have a laggy scroll through a PDF document.

If numbers are the sole concern as to why people prefer pdf (keeping things in chapters) then you'll be happy to know that the solution came long before.

http://www.geocities.com/davidayton/CDisplay

CDI display is a simple but effective program that lets you read open up and go through any image files on a zip or rar folder. In other words, since most releases from scanlaters are zip or rar files, it's a comic book reader. I've used it for hte last year now, and don't unzip files anymore. It works great, you can set it to keep pages fullsize or croped to fit the max yoru screen allows, scrolls through pages by their alphabetical or numberical order and lets you goto the next zip file in the folder, meaning you can go though chapters without having to close and reopen the file. I'd recommend it to anybody, as it's a fuckload easier then using pdf.

Same as with ACDSee except the part of the decompressing.

That kinda defeats the point then, doesn't it? Organization is all well and good, but you still have a few ten thousand files instead of a few hundered.

Well, I just recommend anybody who wants to try CDisplay do so. If ya like ACD better, more power to ya.

I have a feelling that Guts will straight out deny that he's the raid leader, and Owen will somehow meet with Griffith in the near future and hail him as the next messiah. I don't really see Owen with Guts, Guts won't allow him to join even if he tells his sob story anyway. He's pretty much a deadweight. Roderick and Farnese's brother are the sole exception 'cos they're relatives. Will Guts try to save the city? I don't see that happening, but not entirely impossible though. Maybe the Hawks will intervene, they are pretty much going for saviour status here.

Miura isn't going to make it that easy for Guts to obtain a ship. Perhaps we will have another run in with the pirates? And with Azan maybe? Seems like he's nearly forgotten from all those chapters ago.
