I figure I may as well add my stupid theory to the lot. This'll be a long one, and very unlikely, but anything might happen if you look far enough down the line, right?
*spoilers, obviously*
First a short one: I think Silatt will survive this ordeal and not only bring pride to the Bakiraka, but replace Ganishka as the Lord of the Kushite Empire. Dunno why...Prince Silatt just seems like he can do it. I also think he's somehow related to Raksasha of the Neo Hawks, who was exiled from the Bakiraka who-knows-when. Raksasha's exile is probably vital to the Bakiraka's current standing among the Kushan clans, and its undoubtably tied to Ganishka as well. That being said, I believe that Raksasha or maybe even Silatt will be the one to slay Ganishka. Otherwise it might be Guts, and if Silatt is involved that may prompt him to travel with Guts for a while seeking truth or Raksasha or the Hawks or what have you..
Now, for my big theory...............*drumroll*........be warned, its crazy as hell:
I get the feeling that Rickert will eventually rejoin the Griffith and serve him as a powerful member of the Neo-Hawks. Perhaps I'm reading too much into what Griffith said to Rickert on the Hill of Swords as well as what Guts said about Rickert not being able to hate Griffith but I believe Rickert wasn't left as the only other surviving member of the Hawks just so he could live a boring life out in the boonies with Erika. There's also his unexpected rescue by the Skull Knight, and then there's Godor's death, Rickert and Erika are the only ones out there now.. Finally there's the day Guts left the Hawk, other than Caska who had her own reasons...wasn't Rickert the only one to cry? Sure you might say he was just childish back then but, a child's dream can be quite a strong bond. Theres no question that Rickert genuinely believed in the Band of the Hawk, and in Griffith.
I don't think Rickert can let go of the Hawk Banner. Take the Hill of Swords for example, Rickert did all of that alone, for his pride as a Hawk. He'll never be able to forget that part of his life. Even though he was the youngest member, and it was hard to take him seriously back then with his baby face, in his heart I think Rickert will always remain a Hawk Soldier. If its true that he can't forget the past, and if its true that he can't hate Griffith...I believe he'll seek out that Hawk Banner again. Perhaps to confront Griffith himself at first, but in the end... I think he'll be the last sacrifice of the Band of the Hawk.
I know that most will think, Rickert won't join Griffith, he betrayed Pippin, Judeau, Corkus, everyone...but perhaps in Rickert's mind Griffith didn't betray their memory, or maybe thats what he'll convince himself of after seeing him again. The purpose of the Hawks were to push Griffith toward his dream. Each and every one of them was willing to place their lives on the line, sacrifice themselves if necessary, give up anything to ride into battle by Griffith's side. They shed their blood for him. He may feel like the Hawks died for that unspoken oath they beared, and he may decide that he, as a true Hawk, still believes in Griffith's dream. Or something like that, yanno the usual twisted logic that makes people do stupid stuff and fight the hero. He may even call Guts a traitor to the Hawks for standing against Griffith.
Another thing...Rickert always struck me as the weakest of the main Hawks crew. Even Corkus had his moments to shine, it wasn't much but it was more than Rickert had. It wouldn't surprise me if Rickert didn't feel as useful to Griffith as the others, like he was just chasing after them and never quite measuring up or something. Pushing himself as hard as he could, but he could never be like Guts or Caska or the others. An integral part of Griffith's dream. He may eventually convince himself to fight Guts in Griffith's name to prove something to himself as a real Hawk Soldier. Especially if he's granted power superior to other apostles by Griffith/Femto and tries to take Guts' place as Griffith's black knight.
Finally, If any of this comes to pass I'll feel sorry for Erika if Rickert has developed feelings for her over the years. It would be pretty depressing if he were to sacrifice her to stand by Griffith's side again and continue pushing on towards his dream, and regret it in the end when the vortex comes to claim his soul. It'd be even sadder when he and Guts clashed. The last Hawks fighting amongst eachother, and how Guts would feel looking down at Rickert after his body returns to its true form. Then a sad burial scene, leaving Rickert's broken sword on a battlefield... What a tragedy that would be.. Especially if Rickert got an awesome death scene like Judeau.
This theory is probably about as screwed up and out there as they get without laughin it off, you can blame my overactive imagination.

akurei not sure that the Manga will go that far but if it did I think that would be a good twist to the plot. Here is some thing to add though Ricket does join Griffith and becomes an Apostle, mean while you have Guts getting Caska back and making another baby saying that they were done with Griffith until Guts hears about Erika That is when Godo visits Guts in a dream or aperition or something. Telling him to avenge his daughter and embuse the drangon slayer with is soul to turn it into a firey sword of death.......
Just had to add that in
Just had to add that in

Thank you sir, may I have another

I dont thinkhe really cares what rickert wanted in this situation. I think he wanted to preserve rickerts memory of griffith becuase in some wierd way, he wanted to preserve the love that he had for him prior to the incident...ya i am GUts' psychologist so i know this kinda stuff...Sandman wrote:For him to grow as an adult thinking that Griffith is a good guy would be wrong he needs to know the truth so he can know what a selfish bastard he is. This should be a choice for him to make and I think Guts is going to wait until he is more grown up.
well stupid theory i guess. guts' name was meant to be spelled gatsu, miura just whiffed when they asked him the question and has been to embaressed to clarify it.

As I see it, Guts told Rickert the whole story.
