Chapter 1 - Normal - 2,322,960 - 68 Max Chain

All - Normal -3,815,220 - Chapter 3

I can chain all of Chapter 1 with a reasonable amount of bouns ships pretty consistently up to the part where those 4 large ships that shoot from the sides come up towards the end of the stage. I could improve my bullet absorbtion skillz though. I haven't really looked into Chapter 2 and onward and I'm obviously far from 1cc'ing this game. I'm pretty sure I could get to at least Chapter 4 on a single credit if I didn't take so many risks in chaining stuff though.

That's what happens when you own so many games like you do, you never have time to master any of them.

In any case, my plan of action has been to play only with single credits, which means I'll have less opportunity to try crazy stuff the further I go along but I'll master the early stages through trial and error + repetition. I've played Chapter 1 at least a hundred times doing that.

Get your ass on MSN to chat about it!

I hear ya, I own far too many games. Oh well, as ya do.

I definitley agree on the trial and error style of playing shooters. That is how I play all of my shooters actually. I play untill I lose my credit. I start over when that happens. Good for keeping track of score I say.

Metal Slug is somewhat of a shooter, so I'd figure I'd post this here:

http://www.gamespot.com/arcade/action/m ... index.html

New features include:

- Health bar.
- Ralf and Clark from Ikari Warriors (!).
- Different stats depending on character chosen.
- Special attacks depending on character chosen.
- Ability to change between two different weapons.
- Special scoring system, dunno the details.

Low res sprites in high res backgrounds, but I'm still excited nonetheless.

Looks like, at least from the stats, Ralf and Clark are once again pallet swaps (although I should hope they do some KOF moves for their special attacks, like the Super Argentinian Backbreaker or the Galactica Phantom). I probably won't play them much though, since my home boy Tarma is in this game! w00t @ teh (original) glasses man

I was looking at the screen shots of the character select screen. The Ikari team is fast!! Surprising that the girls are more powerful than most of the gents. Which is coo, Eri is teh one I will be playing when it comes out.

Chapter 1 - Normal - 2,588,300 - 78 Max Chain

All - Normal - 4,563,030 - Chapter 3

:kekeke:

I messed up my chain once before the final bonus ships in Chapter 1, I didn't even try to chain the zigzag ships in 1-4, I could've gotten more bonus ships in general, I could've killed the boss at least 4 seconds faster and I still need to work on better bullet absorbtion so yeah, there's still room for improvement in that score.

EDIT: Chapter 1 - Normal - 2,850,900 - 88 Max Chain :kekeke:

Didn't break my chain once, but I had to let a lot of enemies go. Still room for improvement, but I'm quite happy with this score.

EDIT 2: Scratch that, I won't be happy until I pass 3 million. :D

Chaining all of Chapter 1 is not too hard, at least not after you've figured out the most efficient and safest way of chaining enemies. If I am to top 3 mil though, I'm going to have to take more risks in certain places (those damn zigzag ships in 1-4 piss me the hell off!).

I have some spare cash on hand, so I am going to try and rig up a system to record play. It should be fun once I get going.

Later on, once I know what the hell I am doing with editing and what not. I want to try and contribute more to these forums by posting reviews of little known games kinda in the fashion of that Neo Geo shooting special you posted Femto. I also plan to start some threads that will hopefully increase the activity the gaming section gets.

Bump - Aight, I got all the recording stuff taken care of. So far, it has been pretty sweet. I am still debating what kind of format I want to use to make this come out great. I want good quality, but I can't have monstrous file sizes. Here is a pic of the set up any way......

Was Mushihimesama the shooter we played at Jazz's place Ayanami? That music (The whole game for that matter) was on fire!

Correct. :D The game is on fire as a whole. There are a lot of gems out for the Japanese PS2 shooter wise. Looking at getting one of those pearl white ones. 8)

Necrowned!

Pretty much only Ayanami will be able to appreciate my latest feat, but I'm posting it anyway.

Progear - 5,085,710 (Bolt/Rivet)

I am proud of this score, and of my performance. Bro, if I could have known beforehand to record this, I would have, it as an epic performance. I got halfway through stage 3 before even losing a life, and that's because my finger slipped when I went to bomb (D'oh!). I managed to One life the stage 3 boss, and got like 80% through stage 4 when I died. Got me an extra life at 3 million. I am pleased. I tell, you, during the last part of stage 3 and most of 4, I was like the freaking master of evasion. There were some parts where it was luck, but I was pleased to see my pattern watching was paying off.

Oh, and Rivet pwns evey other gunner. Chain is nice, but I just like Rivet better. I got her to level 3 by the end of stage 2. She's my girl now.

Pretty good score Tempest, glad you found a shooter you can triumph in.

Any who, my score......

Ayanami - Progear - 5,227,570 - Bolt / Nail - Stage 1-4

Hop on MSN some time Tempest, I can give you the video of my play. I did have the record button on.

EDIT - New score for ya Tempest......

Ayanami - Progear - 5,422,710 - Bolt / Nail - Stage 1-4

Have ya had time to play as of late? I am sure you have toppled your old score by now. I am having a hard time with consistancy as of late.

I haven't had a lot of time to play lately. Last time I played I got to stage 4 and was just under the 5 million mark, but I couldn't get quite far enough to beat my old score. I'll keep trying though, gotta beat yours sometime

I hear ya man, play it when you can.

By the way, what is the highest level you got your Gunner to?? I got her to level 5 once, and only once, but I am wondering if there is something higher......

I've only gotten to level 3. What does that even do? Does the level make the gunner more powerful? And what affects the different characteristics, the safe/active/care or whatever? Jewels/Rings?

To be honest, beats the shit out of me. Your gunner does look like she is about to orgasim when you get level 5 though. If that is worth any thing to you of course.... :kekeke:
