Did you see in the cinema and they didnt have any subs?
If the fights rock thats all i need to hear, i have never watched a fighting movie for the story.
If a fighting movie has good acting but sucky fights then the movie sucks!

Not in the cinema.
It had English subs for the parts in Thai and Chinese and Thai subs for the parts in Chinese and English. So two sets of subs sometimes, kind of annoying but you get used to it.

What the hell is Ultraviolet? Is it based off of a comic or something? Hollywood really is running out of ideas...it's sad.Tempest wrote:Didn't we do this already? Wasn't it called "Aeon Flux"? Didn't it suck total and complete ass?
Hollywood is out of ideas.
Please tell me you're being sarcastic.
That's not neccessarily true. Normally I would agree with you, but Death Note isn't a Shonen style manga. There's not a lot of fighting and special effects for them to do horribly wrong. So, while I'm not endorsing the idea of a live action movie, I think there's a good chance it could be done correctly by Hollywood. I mean, all you'd really need are some good actors, and that's the one thing we do have. Actually, America makes all the best movies. Perhaps I'm bias, but most movies I've seen from other countries seem low budget, and sub-par quality. Not all of them of course, but in general, the quality seems higher here. Death Note isn't something that seems too hard for our directors to grasp, like if they tried to do Naruto.Libaax wrote:Please tell me its not hollywood that makes Death Note? If the movie is made in asia it has a chance.
Naruto is shallow fanservice action. Even Hollywood cant mess up something that easy up.
DN is very deep, dark thriller. Its like Old Boy i find it very hard to believe that hollywood will make a movie like that specially with a license like this they are only after easy money.
Hehe america makes the best movies then i geuss you havent seen Korean movies lately. Movies from korea, japan, hong kong is superior these days, why do you think they copy them so much.
America is only good with comic movies these days and once in a while comes a movie like Memento or Matrix.
I also thought hollywood was superior then i started watching movies from those three countries and they rock. Cause their stories are totaly diffrent.
Which is why i havent seen a good korean movie have under 8/10 in imdb.com

WTF! You don't think America can handle deep dark thrillers? Um, have you seen Silence of the Lambs? How about Seven? Donnie Darko? Possibly one of the Saw movies. These are just the ones off the top of my head. We've got great actors with true skills. I can name tons of deep movies with great acting. Most of our comic book movies suck in comparison. Plus, even though we can afford it, and have the technology to do it correctly, most of the time they fuck up the special effects and fighting. I love the matrix, but I'm sorry, Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburn have horrible form. The special effects didn't look right either, if they were trying to imitate anime, which they said they were. Meh, it's all subjective anyway, so whatever.Libaax wrote:Naruto is shallow fanservice action. Even Hollywood cant mess up something that easy up.

The movies I wanna see are V for Vendetta and 30 Days of Night, Wich is supposed to be in pre-prod at the moment. I read the comic book and Ben Templesmith has made it look awesome. He's a good artist in my opinion. I hope that for the movie, they can create an atmosphere that is as good.
There's the Silent hill movie that looks interesting too. From what I saw, the photography looked real good.
Of course there's also X-men 3, wich is supposed to be an ending to the serie. The producers said they don't say there won't be any sequels ever but this movie should end the trilogy.
Sin City 2, I hope it comes out this year.

I believe Japan is making the DeathNote movie since Fujiwara Tatsuya (from Battle Royale) will be playing Yagami Raito.
I think Ultraviolet is by the same guy that made Equilibrium. If so, I will definately see it. Big fan of sci-fis anyway.
And I tend to lean towards the asian movies because I like sad endings and the characters in their movies are more realistic, in that they are more grey than just good or bad.

Im not dissing the actors and the old movies you mentioned. Im just saying Hollywood isnt at its best right now. I agree in the 90's there were many great movies. Now its only action, sci fi action only now and then do you see a movie like Million Dollar Baby.
Gaiseric: said this very well and thats why like asian movies nowadays more. He said in his post under
