Thanks alot CrazYankan .. it was worth the waiting
to tell the truth .. the 1st chapter gives me the feeling of (more of the same) ... but after (snow??) WOW ... that Post-Apocalypse plot is awesome & the past of Careula (da alita's slayer) .. can't wait for v09 .

In response from another thread: BAA LO is good, yes, but it's not even close to how great BAA was. The end of BAA was rushed, so from this point of view LO is not even a sequel, it's just a continuation. As Libaax said, short series tend to be better than the long ones, before they rot. If you look behind in this thread, I have already mentioned the lameness of some Alita's power-up, how ridiculous some enemies are, and the way her past is coming back to her. It is VERY linear. What saves it is that everything sticks together pretty well, but it's not as intricated as it used to be, you don't care for the new character as much (except Sechs but he's becoming more and more of a buffon, and Caerhula rules them all). The biggest disappointment is Nova.
Now vol8 is another story: it's the best volume so far. Developement of new characters, new story, so good that it deserved an entire serie dedicated to it. It's part of LO,

I love the GetBackersian shounen fighting satire.
I don't know what that mean.
LO is wonderful like that.
The mangaka takes a tried-and-tested shounen staple (fighting tournament), a handful of clichés (martial arts ROBOTS with AMNESIA and ÜBER-POWERFUL LOST FIGHTING TECHNIQUES and VAMPIRES with FLASHBACKS busting SUPER-MEGA SPECIAL ATTACKS), and mixes it all together to produce something that is moving, involving, and in short all kinds of awesome without ever stooping to the (low) level of quality traditionally associated with the genre.
Last Order is shounen done right, but in doing shounen right, it cannot really be classified as shounen anymore.
I love LO better too, more maturity and mature feelings than the previous series.
Get Backers manga reference, I read the manga(v1-9) but its pretty vague, I dont see what you mean too, maybe its because I havent read v08+ of LO
EDIT: let me read your post before answering back
Alright, I see what you mean, but why Get Backers? Get Backers fighting is pretty bad. Is it because the Get Backers author uses those Tried and tested staples too?

Yes, pretty much. It's not as obvious or as well-executed as in LO, but GetBackers never took itself seriously; GetBackers is simply a rehash of X number of shounen come before it, with a few twists that makes it better than those X titles. GetBackers has sort of evolved beyond that point now, though.
I like LO a lot, though in some ways I don't know if I've ever liked any of the series more than the first three volumes of the original set.
I do wish that Kishiro wouldn't get so... weird (?) with things like the circus-themed team, but he makes up for it every time Alita jumps into a fight.
Thought I'd mention that the Viz edition of this has come out... it is indeed quite jawesome.
I like that they include all of Kishiro's liner notes in the back of the volume.
Can't wait for no. 9... for one thing, it'll mean that Kishiro's new Alita series has now matched (and will like pass) the length of the original. Interestingly enough, I think he's told a lot less story in the same length of time, though... like Takehiko Inoue, he's become really decompressed.
I don't mind so much, 'cause his art is silly-sweet.
I do mind (a little), since his storytelling was much subtlier before. Gally's process to recollect her memories and growing up as a new person was much better in the previous serie. I hate the fact that he seems to feel obliged to spoonfed us the mental process of Gally's evolution, while the same information could be condensed easily in fewer pages. Making the story crispier, as it used to be.
However, Kishiro seems back in top form with the Caerhula's arc. And we can only bow.
