I think most of what Grahf means, is that there is this whole cast of good characters, that we don't get to see. How many captains did we really see in action? If they are alive, they should do something.
And it's not even taking into account Ichigo's dad, or Ichida. All of those are good character, and it's frustrating to not see them. Maybe Kubo is "saving" them to get a better impact, but it's still frustrating.

We did see Ishida not soo long ago and he is busy with his training no point in focusing on him right now. About his dad he prolly wont appear before the big battle.
I think this mangaka is amazing at using the hole cast i mean we have seen captains,Ikkaku and co,Ishida,,SS when they showed the commander and the white haired captian,Ururahara and his crew.
Right now more Ichigo and the current shingami crew on earth plus Viazard the mangaka will focus on for a good reason.

I see what you mean, you are still focused on the SS arc, which was definitively one of my favorite arcs ever for shonen.
Since then, things somehow got downhill and all these nice characters just disappeared more or less. But we got the introduction of a whole new cast of characters (vaizards and arrancars), and well...we don't know too much about them right now, especially the Vaizards. The new characters are not as attaching as the ones back in SS. The plot advancement hasn't been breathtaking as it used to be. Renji is useless at most, Hitsu shows a sparkle of brillance here and there, Matsumoto is eye candy at best, Madarame is the strongest out of the group IMHO and what has the other guy done since coming to earth?... ?
I mean I would some much rather see Yamamoto, Kyouraku, Ukitake, Kurotshuchi, Komamura, Unohana, Kenpachi not to mention the V.C. that we haven't seen in action before. But we have already seen these guys on earth fight in the SS arc and now. To tell you the truth I really wasn't impressed with most of them.
Now I'm aware that SS can't mobilize their strongest Captians for obvious reasons. But if there were a ranking amongst the Captians in SS now. Hitsu wouldn't be in the top five.
In the end I think that that there is a lot to look forward to. But there is a flip side to that coin.

I for once like that this arc is much diffrent from last arc and like that they focus more on a group of characters instead showing a little of them all.

If she were really powerful she would try to stop Aizen but she didnt even try knowing she didnt have a chance.

Top three for Kenpachi?? sure. Shunsui and Ukitake stay in the top three because they were trained by Yamamoto. I could possibly give kenpachi fourth but that is a reach at best. He isn't better than Byakuya.

Kenpachi will probably learn the name of his sword. He will then be a freakin monster.
However, it might lessen the character's coolness. THe "me against the world" image might be gone then, and he made it clear that he didn't need his sword to win, that only the weaks need that: he will have to eat his words.

anyhow can we not know how strong they are? They fought a legendary Reiatsu to a stalemate.
As for Albator's point for the matchup. He is a 100% right. Also with his ban Kai if he fought anyone other than Byukayu with that Ban Kai he would have lost. His Ban Kai was at that point was only effective against that kind of attack.
I think think the main reason he is having problems at this point as well is the fact that he isn't as prepared for some of these enemies like he was in the SS arc.
In the end everything is a big "if".

Well, if we are comparing the captains considering of what they have done so far, i´m putting Tousen right near the top, i mean he choped Grimjaw´s arm like nothing and he was what? number 7? And he can beat Ichigo with one arm now.
The whole upgrade to a Menos (Is that what Aizen and co. are now? i forgot) must create a huge gap.

I'm curious to see Aizen fucking own someone. All others could wait in line. I'm damn sure the next fight Aizen gets into is with Kisuke 1 on 1 or Kisuke and Yoruichi. someone is going to die in that encounter and it isn't going to be Aizen I know that for sure.

Kenpachi did also just pwn Tousen in Ban Kai form as well. So as lib said we can't take much of Tousen, captain tousen, abilities.
But now that he is with Aizen and Gin commanding Espada its damn obivious that he has in fact become stronger.
Though we still aren't sure how the stronger SS captains have improved.

I am pretty sure they have improved enough to beat espada.
But prolly not stronger than the third group of arankars. First type was gilian which already was almost stronger hitsu. The other two types must be alot stronger than gillian type.
