And although normally we'd expect the hero's to stay around and join in the struggle, these hero's really need a break soon. Guts should be almost dead from his wounds, and Schierke ought to be nearly exhausted magically. I don't see how they can fight against an Apostle army for very long at all in their current state, and I'd expect them to leave, then as they're sailing in the boat (which we don't really need to watch) we can watch the huge clash between armies.

I think Guts and the emperor will team up for a while, kick apostle-ass and split up again. Knowing that Guts is against Griffith, Ganishka will cease his pursuit on him.Libaax wrote:Then there is Guts who have never fled from an apostle and also he is at his best when he is half dead.
Still i think he will escape with his band cause he wont be able to protect them if he try to join the fight. Plus he cant fight both sides at the same.

I agree that teaming up with the emperor would be the smart thing to do, but if he was the sort willing to do that he'd have died long ago. A large part of what keeps him going is the purity of his feelings (and his rage) and his inability to compromise or give up on these issues. His resolve is far too strong to allow him to compromise and work with Ganishka, but that same resolve is what has kept him going so long. Heck, if we're looking for smart, most would probably say that it is foolish to challenge the God's Hand in the first place, since it is impossible for a mortal to triumph against them (though Guts will probably prove this to be false, it is an entirely reasonable and "smart" view point). The fact that such an alliance would be the smartest choice doesn't mean that it would be the best one for Guts.
I think Guts will run away from the battle, he knows when to retreat and fight another day. He's incredibly beat right now, and I don't think he could do anything. The only person that is even considered useful in battle is Serpico, and he got singed by the thunder too.

Yeah, Serpico couldn't even beat a whalephant, which equates to a lesser apostle, so he has no chance against an apostle like Zodd. Although he performed remarkably against the Emperor, surviving his attacks, and bailing Guts' arse out of fire. He has improved substancially with the mastery of the wind.
I would like to see if Ishidoro has made any progress with his weapon. It'd be interesting to see how mature he's grown.

Again, I will point out that some would say even challenging a God's Hand is the act of a fool, and that it's his pure determination and unwillingness to compromise himself that has allowed him to get this far. Besides, the Kushan emperor is far too blatently evil for Guts to be able to work with him for long. Guts may not be a nice person, but he isn't actively evil, and I can't see him working for someone who is, even to help his revenge. As for needing more then himself... you have noticed that he's been collecting allies, right? He just isn't including Apostles amoung the them.

I don't know that Griffith is any less evil at this point, although he pretends to be, and I'm sure that Guts hates Griffith more then he does the Emperor (and with good reason), but yeah, that in no way means he approves of the Emperor, or should be willing to work for him. He's not Sasuke, for crying out loud.
OK, honestly, I don't think Guts will join, or the Emperor will let him join that easily since Guts bad mouthed him. He got pretty pissed off too.Bannik wrote:guts is a fool not to join up...1 the big cheese can protect him and his friends including Caska from a lot of demons , 2 he needs more then himself to beat Hawk and his band.....seriously the guy was raised by sheep
Anyway, what's to say that the Emperor won't backstab Guts once he joins? He'll probably try to exploit him, or make a magical creature out of him. And Guts knows that. Even if Guts DO join forces with the Emperor, his allies will probably leave or voice their disapproval. The Emperor did threaten to attack the Vatican city or whatever, and Serpico, Farnese, Manifesico, Roderick are from the same city that has been declared war on by the Emperor. So think about those factors first.

Yes, Guts will not join forces with the emperor. I think he would rather die in the process of fighting all the apostles then to join forces with any. What is stronger than Gut's fighting abilities is his mental strength. It has nothing to do with whether if he is a fool. What makes Gut a hero is not his moral beliefs but his persistence in the presence of adversity.
He may run but he will never submit to his enemies.

Joining up might also have made him more of a target, rather then less, since Griffin is at war with the Kushan Emperor. I doubt it'll happen soon, since Griffin needs the Emperor to be a threat he can use to lever himself to power by, but sooner or later I fully expect Griffith to squash him like a bug (assuming Guts doesn't somehow manage it first).
At this point of time, escape seems to be the most likely option for Guts and company, facing the apostles head on in their current state will be unwise. They had better run for it while the Emperor's preoccupied. I have a feeling that the Emperor may retreat as well, to plan for a next battle. The Emperor may just leave Guts alone for now, but after declaring an interest in him and stating that they're meet again.

Even if they were in peak condition, I doubt that they could face that many Apostles successfully. Given the condition that they're actually in, it really seems unlikely. They're almost certain to have to retreat by one means or another. But then, their goal is to get to a boat, not to save the city, so maybe it isn't even retreating so much as ignoring distractions to their mission.
