The greatest fighter is already here. SF3: 3rd Strike.

3rd Strike may be the best fighting game ever (and it is), but if SF4 makes the jump from 3rd Strike that New Generation did from Super Turbo...

I don't know...

I can't imagine how utterly insane such a game would be...

If there was a poster of this it would be the baddest SNK poster of all time. Yet another reason why Hiroaki stomps holes in Falcoon's fat ass. This Enter the Dragon inspired Mark of the Wolves artwork just oozes with awesomeness.

Yuri, Robert, Marco, Mr. Karate, Takuma
Special appearances by: Todoh (Very Right), Dan Hibiki (Very Left), and Bruce Lee (Lower right row)

Artwork that it was inspired from http://images.barnesandnoble.com/images ... 729728.jpg

I know this is an old image, but still...it's so awesome to me.

Melty Blood Act Cadenza is coming to PS2.

Guilty Gear XX / cover art :

Japanese Xbox Isuka cover art puts that to shame in my opinion.

Just wanted to let people know >.>.

What I'm upset about is the fact that KOF XI hasn't even been announced yet for a console release. It's been almost 4 months I think since the game was released...

Well I'll take it as a sign that the game is doing really well in the arcades and they are still wanting to cash in on that before they release it to home consoles...

MAN I CAN'T WAIT FOR KING OF FIGHTERS MI2. THE FIRST ONE WAS SO AWESOME!

Seriously...maybe MI2 won't suck.

It was just my usual comment, it wasn't directed at you or your post in particular.

As for KOFXI, yeah, you may be right, but Delaymore got that nickname for a reason.

MI2 will suck, just like the first one did.

lol 3D KOF

I swear... Every time I hear a MI fanboy say how awesome that game is I want to hurt them to no end...especially when they start praising Falcoon.

I seriously hope that Hiroaki sticks as the main series artist while KOF MI just crashes and burns... or maybe he could come in and clean up the trash. I don't like that idea though....just seeing some of the things that they try to bring over from sprites just looks awkward and cheesy. Maybe it's just me.

I hope that I NEVER see 2D version of MI exclusive characters in the main series. I keep hearing from fanboys how Falcoon characters are well liked in Japan...what fucking bullshit. Not one Japanese KOF player I know gives 2 shits about Falcoon and his work. They are agree that his style would be better suited for some low budget RPG.

Falcoon will never be anything more than a fan artist.

Each and every one of his designs are just terrible (except for Shen Woo maybe). People that call Ash one of top 5 character designs in KOF are fucking retarded. Don't even get me started on the MI2 characters.

I read in an interview once how he said that he was so happy because he could add so many little details to the characters in MI2 because of them being 3D models. That's proof of how fucked up his designs principles are. Little stupid details and shit don't make good design, just look at fucking Iori. He's a fucking solid, original character design that has lasted for over 10 years now and his costume is just as good as it was when it debuted in '95. He's been overused of course, but his design is awesome any way you look at it.

Falcoon's designs will be forgotten in less than a year.

Fuck Falcoon.

Found out that the designs for the new characters in KOF 2003 were not done by Falcoon. Some were even unused designs before SNK collapsed. The only thing Fatty did was the official character art.

Even characters like Oswald and Hotaru were conceived back in '98. I forgot which mook I saw that in...but someone posted the pic in one of the forums not too long ago.

Hiroaki owns.

I'm 100% sure that Ash is a Falcoon design.

So is Malin.

Shen Woo I'm not so sure about, but I'm pretty sure Falcoon talked about designing Duo Lon once.

Magaki and Adel/Rose were older SNK designs.

I hate Ash's design but not as much as I hate Alba's.

The characters you mentioned do have a Falcoonish look to them. If Shen Woo is a design by Falcoon...he is the only design I like.

Who designed Momoko and Elizabeth >.>?

Elizabeth screams Hiroaki to me.

Momoko I'm not so sure about, she looks Falcoony, but she's not a terrible design per se.

If the XI characters are not Hiroaki, they're probably unused SNK designs or most likely a mix of both.

Is SNK too stupid to realize the difference how big Hiroaki's fanbase is compared to that of Falcoon's? How about their talent?

I have no idea.

Maybe Falcoon is cheaper than Hiroaki and now it's more feasible to put Hiroaki as a full-fledged illustrator?

I don't know man, I'm just happy that Hiroaki is doing KOF now and Falcoon is out of the picture.

PS: MI doesn't exist for me.

Oh god, I shutter at the thought.

I agree with you guys about Falcoon's designs not being memorable at all. All of his fan art and design are just not memorable.

Japanese Hokuto No Ken Tourney Vid

Pretty cool stuff. Unfortunately the excitable announcer and noisey crowd make it less than perfect. It is good to see that Kenshiro isn't as bad as I thought he was going to be. The first vids I saw had no one playing as him.

Everyone's "Fatal KO" Moves

Pretty awesome looking stuff. I'm not sure how I feel on the moves in terms of fairness and balance (In the video I posted above this one, a guy got his Fatal KO off like 15 seconds into the round). At least they look cool. And now I KNOW I want to play as the fat guy just so I can Pimp-Slap someone as my Fatal KO and then yell "I'm the Juggernaut, Bitch!" The last one in that vid is interesting, since it seems that Shin has a Fatal KO where he commits suicide. I don't see any tactical point to the move (He didn't seem to be able to take his opponent with him or force a Double KO) So I assume it's just for kicks, unless maybe it charges his super bar, or brings down the opponent's defense towards other Fatal KO moves.

The funniest thing I've seen today

I love the guy who is playing Shin, waving his arms around in the least threatening manner possible.

That's a tough call, the current status of American arcades may make it tough, but from what I hear, it's the fourth most popular arcade game in Japan, so it's very possible we might get an arcade version.

Supposedly it will be coming out on PS2 in Japan, but the date when it does come out is a point of conjecture amongst people. I've heard everything from last month ( ) to next November, to some time in 2007. Most people in favor the late release think that SCEA won't let 2-D titles out on the PS2 until PS3 comes out and they have other things to worry about. Given SCEA's actions and supposed views on 2-D games, this doesn't seem too far-fetched.

*EDIT* - Found some stuff out about some of the confusing Fatal KO moves in that vid.

The part with Jagi isn't all his Fatal KO. The move he does prior is one of his other super/special moves. Apparently it's a throw of some sort that if hit forces the opponent to answer a question. If they answer wrong (as shown) they get hit and have to answer another question. If they get the second question wrong (which is what is shown) they are put into a very long stun. That stun enabled Jagi in this vid to pull off his Fatal KO which is simply him blowing up the barrel.

Shin's suicide KO does indeed have a purpose. The next round Shin gets a full "Star Gauge". The Star Gauge is just below the health bar and consists of seven pieces (stars) in the form of the The Big Dipper. Certain moves when hit decrease one or more stars from your opponent's gauge. Apparantly one rule in the game is that a single combo can't take more than 3 stars. Anywho, once your characters Star Gauge is depleted, they are able to bit hit with Fatal KOs. Apparently at the begining of each round after the first you gain one star in your gauge (Assuming you lost at least one in the previous round). So if you know you are going to die and have a match to give away, you do this move to yourself and get all seven stars back on your gauge instead of just one.
