Not everyone thinks Family Guy is any good. I thinks its a lame copy of the simpsons who are about 100 times better than the family guy.
The only okay characther in family guy is the baby,he is fun sometimes.
I hold The Simpsons and Futurama much higher than the FG.

I watched Tom & Jerry, He-Man, Looney Tunes, TMNT and Popeye as a kid.
I don't recall watching Transformers from TV but I had lots of Transformers comics that I scavenged
from second-hand bookshops. They were like 2$ for five of 'em

I was in Turkey when I was a kid. There I had the chance to watch both -some- US cartoons and Japanese animes. The ones I liked were Spiderman, He-man, Voltron, Transformers, GI Joe, Tom & Jerry, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Gundam, Rose of Versailles.
I didn't know anything about manga but I was following couple of comics like Conan the Barbarian, Rom The Spaceknight, and Thor.

I miss X-Men cartoons...
Too bad we get all the rejects in Australia, there's this Megaman anime based on the GBA game, and I actually woke up early a couple of days ago and watched 10 minutes of it. It was pretty shit.
Might as well mention that SD Gundam anime is shit as well.
But anyway...anyone see the new remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? I loved reading that book when I was a kid, nearly wanted to bolt in the cinemas to watch it, but my friends have some sort of ego that prevented them to be seen purchasing a ticket to that movie. I guess I'll have to watch it by myself, one of these days.

Saw Charlie and the chocolate factory yesterday night. (BTW, If you don't care about the first one or this one, just disregaurd this.)
Umm WTF ... no songs! All the opma loopas were the same 60 year old Philippineno man ... even the women! And Willy Wanka was ... eh, well he sucked.
I take the no songs thing back, there were four, the 60 year old ompa loopas sung four songs that no one in the audience could understand because it was drowned out by the most annoying background music ever.
I rarely get upset about a movie but uh Tim Burton really fucked this one up almost strategically. Crushing whatever charm the first one had to ass dust, reminds me of his days making "Mars Attacks" (If you haven't seen it, don't.) Bad move number one was trying to give Willy Wonka a background and fucking it up. The Willy Wonka in this story was wwaaayyy to one dimensional to attempt such a feat.
After I saw it I found my self running home and watching the original to wash the stink of the suck ass remake off me.
If you didn't read the whole post, I'll sum it up for you in two words ... It sucked.

Well I got the Charlie and the chocolate factory book in elementary school as a prize for being a brilliant young mind. I liked it, but I can't find where I put it. It...well was origonal back then, as you may know the concept was used in many other cartoons (Dexter's lab. e.g.).Saiyah wrote:Saw Charlie and the chocolate factory yesterday night. I can't wait for it to come to the local cinemas.
And guess what: the book has a SEQUEL...(wow, what a surprise, huh

and another thing: Mars attack was what it was supposed to be: a hilarious fucked up parody. I liked those nerdy aliens...ak ak ak ak

Well I have to say, I've never read the book, But if it was anything the mockery of the original movie I saw, I wouldn't bother giving a read.
The bottom line is I'm comparing it to a movie that came out in the late 70's that was actually cool to watch even if you were older. This new remake has slow witted jokes, a poorly written musical score, and the most shallow back-story I've ever seen.
If you watched it and liked it good for you. But IMO I'd toke up till I lose a brain cell or two, watch the original, and pretend it's a shitty remake. At least the real characters will be there.

I didn't like the original Charlie and the chocolate factory (I think I am the only one I know that didn't like it). But I enjoyed the new one. Not a great movie, but it was worth the five bucks I paid to see it. And I heard that it follows the book more than the old movie.
I liked The Island too. The shameless product placement was absurd. There were a few scenes/stunts that were just ridiculous. But there was tons of action, amazing special effects, and the plot wasn't too shakey. And Scarlet Johansen was very sexy.
Last week I saw Wedding Crashers. Boring and predictable plot, but who goes to see a comedy for the plot? It was hilarious. If you liked movies like Old School, and Anchorman, I highly recommend Wedding Crashers.
Devils Rejects is not playing at any of the theaters around here. Damn Utah. They never showed Equilibrium here either.
