Ayanami wrote:Oh and Femto, do you know exactly how bad the input is on console ports, like how many frames you lose??
It depends on the port really, but in general, there are things that you can easily do in the arcade that cannot be done in consoles. 3rd Strike on the DC has issues with the timing in parries for example and in MOTW the sound lags. Buffering is sometimes different and inputs and hit boxes can be affected too. The PS2 ports of 3rd Strike and '03 are really good actually, they actually fix quite a few of the arcade bugs in the PS2 version of '03. But even the 3rd Strike PS2 p0rt has that extra Aegis hit that makes it different from the arcade.
The guys behind Evo are fucking stupid for using consoles in a fighting game tournament, arcade + Supergun is the way to go. Look at SBO, they have the freakin' arcade cabinet for the contestants.

but i dont think everyone plays and practices on true cainets though... But i do see why it would make a difference.
I learned a lot more 3rd Strike on the PS2, so I have not experienced the parry issue, might have to throw it in the old DC to check it out. As for the buffering, I have yet to play a port (at least any decent DC or PS2 port) that had buffering issues yet. Evo has most of there games on DC, I thought the DC was pretty damn faithful to its arcade counter parts.
I was thinking about posting my action game collection tonight, but I started looking at it... and said F*** that S***. I'll save it for some other day
My Racers are
Gran Turismo
Gran Turismo II
Gran Turismo III
Gran Turismo IV
I finally went home and got the rest of my games.
So without further ado, my 1337 PS2 collection:
Guilty Gear XX
Zone of the Enders: 2nd Runner
Final Fantasy X
Ico
Onimusha 3
Xenosaga Episode I
Xenosaga Episode II
Shinobi
Castlevania: LOI
KOF 00/01
Silent Hill 3
Devil May Cry
Devil May Cry 3
Kingdom Hearts
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection
Gradius V
Rez
Viewtiful Joe
Disgaea
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Soul Calibur II
Capcom vs. SNK 2
Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution
Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga
Keep in mind that I've bought other games, but I just sell back those that I don't think are worthy of my collection, i.e. Bujingai and Phantom Brave. PB was awesome, but Disgaea should be enough until Makai Kindgom gets here.
Lame. There were some great ideas in there (clashing was awesome), but the combat just falls flat on it's face. There are no combos at all, you're just going to mash the same attacks over and over.
Bottom line is, if you want a good action game, get Ninja Gaiden or DMC 3, Bujingai is average at best.

Add another to my PS1 list. I picked up a sealed copy of Castlevania: Symphony of The Night today, at Blockbuster of all places. I know a video game store around that is selling sealed copies for $30. How much did I pay? $25? No. $20? Nope. $15? No way! Free? No, I wasn't that lucky, back up a bit. $6.99? Bingo. Sealed, never been touched by other grubby human hands, out the wrapping goodness.

Ok, when he says that, bitch smack him across the face. Just because something is "old" and 2D doesn't make it bad. I could sit down with my SNES and play Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 3 (6), and Breath of Fire II for the rest of my days. SoTN is by FAR the best Castlevania EVAR. And I am even a fan of Lament of Innocence. As we can see by the original 3-D Castlevania for N64, and the 3-D version of Street Fighter, 3-D doesn't neccessarily mean better.
