underrated games

Post by raziel »

in another thread there was talk about underrated mangas, so i decided to take the idea to games. which ones are underappreciated?

One game that comes to mind is Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos. It's a space sim and was hella good. I think it wasn't that popular because of the steep learning curve.

Now its your turn...

King's Bounty and Marathon. The first game was on some of the really old PCs, it was usually in black in white but I found a color version and it's sorta like an rpg. You gather up armies and take on castles to overthrow villains that are sought after by the King. Marathon was one of the first fps games that I ever played, it was on a Mac and seriously, that game was fun as hell. I played it at computer camp when I was younger and got addicted to it.

Sepherra Core (can't remember the exact spelling) It was an underrated RPG. Sadly, I lost my copy.

Marathon was not underrated......

Well, the first thing to come to mind is Valkyrie Profile. That game didn't get the props it deserved. That goes for the Suikoden series as well, but it's done better.

I played VP through an emulator at 4x PS speed. I lend it to a friend and he said that there was too much side-plot and too little action. As for Suikoden...I have mixed opinions, I enjoyed 2 than 1, and haven't played the ones on PS2. But Suikoden 4 got a rating of 6.4 or something at Gamespot...

Yeah, well...other people's opinions shouldn't matter. You have to decide for yourself. However, Suikoden 4 is a disappointment in comparison to the first 3 *sigh*. It's still a good game though.

I woulda thought Suikoden would get better by the series, I even put it on the same ranking as FF. sigh, it's a disappointment how sequels don't work...

I actually thought Anachronox was a decent RPG. Gamespot gave it 5.4...although I thought it was worth that much, I still believe it was underrated....there were just a few things that pissed me off.

Well, Suikoden III is still my favorite of the series, but my best friend prefers the second one.

I think the two Zone of Enders games were underated. As for Suikoden I liked the second the best.

Hell yeah i have that! I would say Last Blade 2 as a fighter was underrated, Front Mission 3 was great but no one spoke of it, and i would add Vagrent Story but everyone knows of it and at less tried it.

Valkyrie Profile is one of my fav's and I also prefer Suikoden 2 over 3. I heard 4 was supposed to similiar to 1 and 2 instead of how different 3 was.

suikoden is underrated!! i liked 2 better than 3, and haven't played 4 yet. i don't like the reviews given out by most of these places. games like Halo 2 get a 9 because it is Halo 2. personally i thought that game kind of sucked ass.

Heroes of Might and Magic 1 and 2 were underrated i thought

They were indeed awesome, nothing like a sleek looking mobile suit like bot using that bigass cannon (forgot the name).

those people at gamespot are the worst reviewers. I usually don't care much about them reviewers but if im curious about what some think, then ign's the destination.

ketheric: yay another dreaming fan, did you listen to stabbing westward? i actually pmed you a while ago about this.

Halo is indeed overrated, my bro says its his favorite game ever. sheesh, the level design was the worst.

It's called an Orbital Frame, not a Mobile Suit. It'd have to be from a Gundam series in order to be an MS. The OF in Z.O.E. was named Jehuty, by the way.

Gamespot's reviews actually goes with my taste, but like any reviews, they'll really guides only. I rushed out and got Sudeki and LOTR RPG despite what Gamespot said, and I was really disappointed with those games....

I agree with you Halo is overrated. It was the first (in a long) time that I played a FPS , and I say it wasn't worth the hype. It's a good game, but not a favourite. I didn't like how they don't have a map. I was playing off a friend's game, and I ended up cycling around an island in the cruiser trying to find the damned place I supposed to be in!

Samba de Amigo is under-rated. I have never had as much fun playing a game as I have with Samba de Amigo.

Its not exactly under-rated, since it received high ratings, but no one played Otogi or Otogi 2. Both great games.

relax, we weren't going in depth about the game, so I opted to use a casual well known phrase (mobile suit) since this is a well known term(s) and that basically describes what it actually is. sleek looking mobile suit like bot = orbital frame

Malvado: too bad, Stabbing Westward was underrated on a different note.
