Malvado: Yeah, I love to mess with perspective like that when I'm doing my backgrounds.

arke: Just Photoshop. That's pretty much how far I've gotten with the program, flat shades of color. It's pretty basic too, I just use the polygonal lasso to select an area and paint bucket to fill it in, in another layer of course. Then I just mess with lighting a little.

Ayanami: Yeah, I understand that most people only draw in their free time. Only a few us are dumb enough to choose it as our career.

I hear ya bro, I don't plan to progress to god like level or anything, but I do look at books on ocasion to try and get better.

I have a paper due soon, so I am going to take a small break, like it matters right, I am sure no one cares about me posting sub par work.

Yeah, here's a picture of the main character of my manga. It's not finished though, and some of the coloring is wrong. I think it's pretty cool looking though, especially the face and hair. This one was drawn by an Aussie by the alias Maru. Oh, and the character's name is Ksi. Let me know what you think about the character design. ;)

It looks like a different person drew from the neck down. Oh well dont kill yourself over it. You should just listen to my motto that I thought up "Reality is what you make it, why torture yourself" :P

That quote makes more sense in the story actually. The characters have the ability to manipulate reality, see.

to arresty. I have a book i picked up a while ago that i haven't used too much yet, but it is GREAT for people starting out as far as anatomy. The book is "Anatomy for the Artist." by Jeno Barcsay. It shows every muscle/bone in the body, how it moves and etc. Proportions of the body in men/women, and children. Over 280 pages long, with about 75 pages of dynamic figure posing. You should be able to pick it up at Barnes and Noble for around $20.00. I would highly recommend it... now i need to go study out of it too lol.

dayam! Femto, you're rockin this thread. Btw, 2nd animation piece you uploaded is down. I'd love a re-up if you could. First one looks FANTASTIC. How many frames was that total? Nice stretch and squash, and flowing cape too. Damn cool. Oh, and with what did you color those life distortion pics with? They look awesome. The use of color, reflections, and stylistic shading is fantastic. Clean, but sketchy, real and exaggerated. Awesome stuff :D

J2 Cool: It's good to know that somebody here knows about squash and stretch, it's pretty good when he lands, but I'm missing a single frames where he settles. I can't remember how many frames the whole thing was, but you can advance frames in quicktime if you really want to know. And yeah, the secondary motion in the cape came out really good, but if you pay attention to the hair only, your realize how poorly it was done in comparison. I got away with it though, because it's a really fast action and the cape detracts from it. And, I mentioned this before, but those drawings were colored in Photoshop. Anyways, I'm re-uploading the second vid for you, but I'll warn you, it's isn't really animation, it's more like a bunch of stills moving around the screen. I'm working on a real piece of animation now, I'll probably upload it when I have something less rough.

Starnum: Yeah, I remember seeing the pencil version of that drawing, it's come a long way since then. You know how I feel about anime-like artwork but it still looks as good as it did back then. The coloring is good too, but you can tell it's unfinished. The shading on the face looks much more completed when compared to the body. I'm really curious to see how this turns out, but if this guy puts as much work on the body as he did in the face, then I'm sure we can expect good things.
I wish I had better Photoshop skillz.

I have to totally agree with what Eldo said.

Yep, that’s my main character, Ksi. The story is named after him, heh. I’m glad you guys like the drawing. I agree with Femto, if Maru works as hard on the rest of it as he has with the face and hair, then this illustration will be something to make me proud. It’s thanks to him, and especially Femto, that I’ve been able to actually look upon the creations of my imagination. It really means a lot to me, and I tell Femto that all the time.

Anyway, I’m glad you guys like the way it’s drawn or what not, but I was also curious as to what you think about the design. Not the way it looks, but what the character consists of. I mean, does he look like a cool character, with a cloak and blue hair and all. What do you think of his outfit, which is supposed to be mainly black, by the way. See, I’m an artist too, just the writing kind, heh. Just as an update, I’m currently working on chapter 12 of the story. I’ve written about 260 pages so far, and I expect this to only be about a fifth of what’s to come. This will make the longest I’ve ever worked on a project without giving up. I won’t quit either, b/c I decide this is the one for me. Oh, what a glorious day it will be for me when I start getting it officially published as a manga.

*His eyes become alight with the sparkle of hope*

Ahem, anyway. If I write at least fifty chapters, which is what I’m predicting, I can only imagine how many volumes of manga that would be. Heh, it may be as long as Berserk *shrugs*.

Oh, and by the way, if you have any questions, or want to know more about Ksi, you can check the role playing thread in the Gamerz forum. I've said a lot about it there. You can post questions about it there as well, if you have any. I'm also talking about the game I made up that the story is based off a lot in this thread *shrugs*.

Starnum: I do have one question bout Ksi. It looks like he has european style clothes, but is using a japanese style sword. Whats up with that.

Yeah, your right, Griffith's sword had a hilt more like a rpaier and it gives it that saber feel. However, a katana is a two handed sword. The one in the pic seems to look more like a one handed sword. Dunno, guess we will only know if Starnum tells us himself.
